This. Anyone who actually got sad at the ending was tricked into thinking they were supposed to thanks to the music. No emotional impact to his 'sacrifice.'
But I'm still interested to see what happens next. Will evil Rick come back now that he's separated from Morty? Will Morty man up? Will he escape on his own?

Yes, this is called "directing."

Except a good director would have been able to give the scene impact without it by making us actually care what happens to Rick. If Old Yeller was a silent movie, you'd still be sad at the end.

I dunno. I mean, he's shown a lot of growth over the season, and has shown a lot of concern for his grandkids and his daughter. Not to mention that we don't know what he or his friends did to get on the government's bad side, or why. There's a whole lot that we don't know about Rick, so it's kind of hard to really pass judgment. He definitely has a dark, dark past, though.

Most viewers are invested in Ricks and Mortys relationship, even without music people would had still felt sad. They are not tricking the audience by using music in a medium with sound

Fucking ingrate, after building that kickass daycare center and everything.

If you wanted a reaction image thread anon, then just say so

Does anyone really care? This sin't going to have any impact on Rick's Character. He's still gonna be a giant dick to everyone.

Did people legitimately cry to this scene and the others like when rick killed that weird baby thing, like i was sad about it like "aww" but not crying about it
>>85764495
Serves you right fucker! 'bout damn time.
>>85769850
He'll also escape out by the first 5 minutes of the 1st episode next season
>>85764495
Is him being in prison supposed to make me feel sad? Rick is a literal sociopath, what kind of gaslighting Stockholm syndrome are you guys on that you care about this asshole?
>>85771563
This. People treat this scene like it's a lot deeper than it actually is.

This is bullshit, mostly due to the fact that silent movies always had soundtracks, if not inlaid directly on the projector's film stock, but now I'm picturing a Laurel & Hardy style Old Yeller adaptation, so thanks for that mental image.
