This is without a doubt one of the most pointless retcons I've ever seen. NOBODY was bothered by the fact that Osborn and Sandman had the same hairstyle except for John Byrne. It's neither good nor bad, just completely unnecessary and contributed nothing.
Ironically, this retcon was itself retconned because Marvel declared that Spider-Man: Chapter One was non-canon.
