That was the plan until Bob Hoskins died. He was already old enough that he wouldn't have been able to do all the physical slapstick required.

I would love to see a grand comic-cartoons cameo movie.
But the circumstances that led to Roger Rabbit were quite unique and i doubt that the Big Two will have such a opportunity again.
