I know this board has varied opinions on the topic of raceswapping characters. But are there any characters where you prefer the racebent version? Only official examples.
Pic related is Jetta from Jem. Christy Marx, the creator of Jem, intended for her to be an African-American in the cartoon. However this was the 80s and Hasbro feard having a black person as a villain would be deemed racist. So they gave her a choice between British, Australian, and something else I can't remember (German? French?) Marx chose British. 30 years later the comic reboot redesigned Jetta as a half-black British woman.

She wasn't black though, she never was. There's only I think 1 or 2 panels where she's actually colored black and that is known artists error. She just didn't have red hair in the old comics and had darker, curly black/brown hair.

They were smart to pick a charcther that wasn't as popular
Those as a Canadian I think it would have been better to have her be middle eastern or Indian to better represent how canada is diffeent
