Just marathoned the new Home cartoon series. I really thought it was cute, and genuinely funny on occasion. It reminded me of their Kroods show in that it really surprised me; I expected it to be boring and poorly executed but then it turned out pretty great. Should I watch Peabody and Sherman, next? I hated the first episode, but I hated the first few episodes of Bojack too, and eventually learned to love it.

In the meantime, anyone else notice the overt reference to Rick and Morty? And I'm not talking about the fleeb.

can I skip the movie? for some reason the show looks a lot more appealing then the cgi movie
>>
>>85621137
I was wondering why they would make a series of this movie but I saw that it's Netflix. They seam to run shows of movies that are average at best for some reason.
>>
>>85621305
Home the movie was WAY better than I thought it would be. The previews made it looks like a typical "lost alien" movie.

It isn't. The aliens invade earth, take over, and force all humans into a refugee camp, basically. Tip is the only human in hiding to avoid this fate, and eventually befriends Oh. From there it is mostly predictable, but not at all what the previews looked like.

It is not necessary watching, but you will likely miss a couple in-jokes.

Hey, Kroods was way better than it had any right to be. Better than any of the Shrek sequels, that's for sure. Better than Monsters vs Aliens, Megamind, and Despicable Me, too.
>>
Hilarious
Beautifully animated
Great VA
Smokin milf
>>
The movie isn't bad despite it's awkward three ending pacing

> better than Megamind

whoa now anon
whoa.

I liked Kroods a lot as well but lets not spout irrational insanities like cavemen, here.

This is not the Voltron:LD thread and even then that show is not good at any means.

VLD is like if Paul J Smith went to Filmation after Walter Lantz closed down his studio, thats what VLD is like, this on the other hand is garbage.

>>85621137
I loved it too OP. Wish I could take screencaps. Some MILF might bring /co/ on board.

What was the reference?

TIP'S TINY TITS
>>
>>85625359
I'm hoping something weird happens to Tip in the second half of the season. Something on the level of the brain pumping from the movie.
>>
>>85625359
Just watched the first episode, Tip was a hideous deformed ragdoll in CGI form but she's cute enough here for me to watch the whole thing.

>>85625615
It's funny how much more tolerable every character becomes in 2D.

Even Oh isn't aggravating.

>>85625838
I'm numb to ultra simplified art style at this point, and in stills the fact that they're Flash puppets is glaring but it's pretty fluid for what it is (I believe this is a Titmouse production). All a matter of taste I suppose, I'm not a "CalArts boogeyman" memer

Thurop Van Orman is an executive producer and a lot of incidental voices. That should count for something.
>>
>>85628565
He also "developed for television" which basically means he was the co-creator
>>
>>85629227
Will Home develop a similar following as that show that shall remain unnamed? Will fans call themselves "Homeys" and make OC Boov? Will Thurop Van Orman be forced to resign one day and cause a fracture in the fanbase?
>>
>>85629484
He's busy anyway

Loved the book. It was way more funnier than the movie. Not that the movie wasn't cute but they could've done a whole lot more with it.
>>
>>85624490
I literally storytimed this book a year ago.
>>
I appreciate that it doesn't end on an abruptly dramatic cliffhanger like a lot of Dreamworks' shows have been lately.

>>85631705
This is only the first half of season one.

Well, you can never tell for sure.
Croods managed to throw in a parody cliffhanger in its first half and Voltron has an actual cliffhanger in its first half too.
>>
>>85631574

I can't tell if you seriously think that means that everyone should be aware of it
>>

If you're going to watch Peabody and Sherman, skip the first four episodes. The second episode has all the problems as the first and tries to do a plot (a character pretends to be another character and lampshades all their quirks and flaws) that should'nt be done during the second episode of a non mini-series show. The third episode wastes it's animation (some of the best in the series thus far) on a poorly written script full of gross out, annoying characters and plot holes. The fourth episode starts to improve but it still has a conflict fueled purely by characters that are overly stubborn/selfish, a bunch of gross out and Peabody being a complete idiot (he never tries to find a way to remove his handcuffs).

Thankfully, by episode five, things start to truly improve and it hits its stride between episodes seven and nine and season two is quite a bit better overall than the first season. Although I won't say it's exactly good, it's plots become passable, characters make less mind numbingly idiotic choices and the gross out is reduced, albeit is still present following the first season. Even if the epsiode aren't good writing wise, they're always near eye porn levels of gorgeous thanks to its fantastic art directing, diverse character designs and expressivity that surpasses even most frame by frame animated toons as of now.

As of now, the best episodes by far are Peabody's Parents, World Records, Secret Agent Sherman and Ruff Guyz. Also one more thing, everything changes in the season two finale.
>>
>>85634756
Oh, it's time travel.
If Doctor Who can fix the collapse of time and space on a semi-regular basis, Peabody surely can.
>>
>>85634947
Actually, due to circumstances I can't tell you due to spoilers, the current Peabody doesn't have the means of fixing the past by the end of the finale.
>>
>>85635122
I mean, those guys probably die, but the time travel story P&S they left behind can probably fix things and become the new prime P&S
>>
>>85635338
Thing is though, Grunion has the WABAC and the past P&S have no idea what happened to their current counterparts. I know because the show has at least four more seasons to go, they will survive but just possibly, the present will be screwed with for quite a while.
