don't like the costume. but the footage was…fine
>>
Looks really good, but that suit is still god awful, and almost worse in action.
>>
>>85583669
The suit is really bad.

Like, really bad.
>>
>>85583669
Did they ever sort out that Diefledermaus and American Maid thing?
>>
They should have re-used Warburton's costume. Or at least get rid of the mask. Doesn't work well in live-action.
>>
>>85583669
that was pretty funny
>>
>>85583669
why did they get an old man with no chin to play the tick? this is the worst thing ever

Because the creator of The Tick said so

Batmanuel for life
>>
Patrick Warburton was better.

Why can't they use Putty?

Costume looks like total shit. Why does everyone insist on these crapy over designed costumes these days?
>>
>>85583993
Nope. Still Owned by Disney who are generally not willing to let other people play with their toys.
The new show's produced by Sony so characters from the Warburton show could show up.

>>85584383
Warburton's still involved with the show. He'll probably show up if the show goes to series (If they do a version of "The Tick vs The Tick" He'd be a fun choice to play Barry).

They chose to cast someone else (and a damn inspired casting choice too) because they wanted it to be a total reboot.

>>85584418
The Tick does it because everyone does it (you know it's a parody and all)
Everyone does it because smooth surface look terrible in CGI.
>>

>>
>>85583993
>>85584540

Wait what

What's going on with American maid
>>
>>85584624
There's a bit of a clusterfuck regarding character rights.

All characters created for the comics (e.g The Terror, The Tick, Arthur) belong to Ben Edlund.
All characters created for the 90's cartoon (e.g Die Fledermaus, American Maid) belong to Disney.
All characters created for the 2001 show (e.g Batmanuel, Captain Liberty) belong to Sony.

The new show, being created by Edlund for Sony, but without Disney, can't use cartoon characters.

Yeah.
He's got the voice and the charisma, but the look is all wrong.

Uuf, that suit. I mean, does it look that bad on purpose? It has to, or else they should fire the costume designer (if they even have one). Yikes!
>>
>>85583669
Why the new actors and new costumes? What's wrong with the old ones? It's not like this is an action series, who cares if they're a little old?
>>
>>85585442
I think they felt like doing something new with the concept, I guess.
>>
Oh wow. I was wondering how he'd sound. I think it's spot on. He sounds like a cheesy silver age hero or narrator.

I think he sounds as good as Warburton or the toon. Dunno why people act like Warburton is the be all and end all for The Tick. I even helped petition the show by mailing spoons to Fox back in the day, but I am open to a new actor.

Don't see why people have such an issue with the costume. I could have like a simpler one better, but this does look kinda modern and it does look more like an actual bug exoskeleton. Kinda neat.
>>
>>85585240
They got the same costume designer from the Warburton series
>>
>>85585442
Because its not a continuation and they wanted to do something different with new interpretations of the character

Just finished the pilot. The Ticks voice is amazing.

Just got done watching it, It was damn good, be interesting to see where they take it as a full series, and Haley as The Terror is great. I hope amazon picks up it and John Claude Van Johnson, because it's damn fun too.

It looks ugly and overdesigned, just like a lot of modern superhero costumes. Its clever. The 2000 show's costume was shiny, more saturated, and full of fake musculature, just like the 90's Batman movies.

Thought it was pretty good.

The original live action show was a sitcom, and it did it pretty well. But this has used the lessons learned from cape-tv since then to really hone shit down.

But fuck yeah, Arthur and Tick

Peter is pretty damn good as The Tick too.

Yeah, me too.
It has that whole "serialized cape series" look but it's just taking it for a ride.
In effect making Tick look and feel even more ridiculous. It's awesome.
>>
I didn't like it. And I didn't really get what they where doing was a piss take. Not when half the episode is spent about Arthru's dead father and mental issues.

Maybe I am just being a NOT MUH but the show doesn't really work long form plot and should really focus on being a silly super hero parody.

Also the Tick totally killed a bunch of dudes

It was in the comics, then cartoon, then FOX sitcom.

It's one of the founding jokes of the franchise. No matter how many times Tick's story gets re-told, those jokes will always be included when he first steps foot into Arthur's "base".

I know it's going to be a Prime-exclusive series soon. I wish there was a way for me to support the series without having to pay for a subscription. I want the show to do well, I have zero reason to use Amazon outside of this. I order maybe two things from the site a year and don't watch any of their other shows.

Does anyone know if I'll be able to just buy the episodes one at a time when they come out?

>>
>>85584801

Warburton is literally like 60 now. He's not ever going to play that role. Don't be stupid.
>>
Watched the Pilot and liked it for the most part despite a few misgivings

Pros:
>The Tick's voice is great
>Arthur is cast pretty well
>The Soundtrack fits the tone well
>Not audibly laughing funny but amusing enough
>The Terror was pretty entertaining for the little amount of time he was in the pilot
>I'm interested to see where the plot goes, especially with the possible mindfucks

Cons
>The costumes are fucking awful
>Really fucking awful
>Literally all the costumes for every character has been terrible so far, they just looks so incredibly cheap
>The Tick's actor isn't all the physically imposing
>>
Why are people acting like Warburton was the de facto Tick when there was a voice actor who played him well before the live-action show?
>>
>>85584560
Nah, he's just a pretender.
>>
>>85591122
Arthur's is just so bad.
The goggles and the wings just look...horrible
>>
>>85591122
>The Tick's actor isn't all the physically imposing
Yeah, I would put that up to the costume design as well. I think everything in the show is great, even the actor, but The Tick himself looks so small. He's taller than Arthur, sure, but a padded chest and shoulders as part of the costume would really help a ton. I wouldn't even mind that his face doesn't really look like the character's if he were just bigger overall.
>>
>>85591354
I mean fuck, why couldn't they have just gone with the original TV show's outfits? They looked goofy, sure, but they fit the tone of the series. These costumes looks like they're trying to play it straight and realistically but it falls flat on its face since they're so cheap looking.
>>
>>85591403
FOX probably owns the rights to the suit itself and I heard the suit was really expensive to make in the first place. Maybe this one is more cost effective, or maybe Ben wanted to do satire on modern day designs for characters like Superman. I mean, Arthur's costume looks WAY more expensive than the FOX version, so.
>>
>>85591459
I'm not saying they need to use the suit exactly, just something that looks enough like it. I think the over the eyes cowl is an improvement for instance. And I'm sure there's been at least some advances in costume advances since then to the point they could make a suit like the first TV for a lot less money.
>>
>>85590676
That's more or less how the comic was; the Tick himself was funny, and there was always some kind of absurd shit going on around him but he lived in a grimngritty late 80s/early 90s comicbook world where weird, oddly 'dark' shit would go on around him. Hell in the very first arc you also had this odd thing where the Tick would start having blackout issues if he let the 'realness' of the world actually get to him. So far this just feels like a straight media/time period update of the comic, just focusing a little more on Arthur, as he had almost zero actual development in the comic.
>>
>>85583669
>>85583669
Gotta say, I know nothing about The Tick, but this preview is uninspiring.
