When you bring the mind, space, time, love and wind stones all into the gauntlet it creates the ultimate being: Captain Space. He can basically do anything, hence why Thanos is the actual creator of the DC universe but he used his powers to erase his own memories and send himself back in time to fight the X-men. It's pretty boring being the god of the multiverses, so he decided to try and become an space pirate and conquer the universe that way.
