Ok I have a theory about the nature of Rose and her relationship with Pink Diamond.

For a moment lets imagine that the Pink Diamond is young and inexperience theory is correct.

So lets ask the question of why Rose seem to be so diferent from other quartz, unlike Amethyst or Jasper, her weapon and abilities are defensive in nature, she also has some odds powers like healing tears, the ability to float and create an army of plants. All those powers seem pretty odd on a warrior unless she wasn´t created specifically to fight but to protect.

Then the question becomes what if Rose´s powers are unique by desing?

I could imagine a scenario where Yellow or any other diamonds custom made Rose as the perfect body guard for their youngest "sister" on her first colonization mission.

That would explain why Rose had all those defense base power, the shield, the bubble, the healing tears, she was created to protect and heal her master if necesary, with her floating ability she could have serve as a bodyguard and a parachute and she could summon an army of plants in the unlikely case of being outnumbered by enemy forces. Imagine the irony of a Diamond killed by a Quartz designed specifically to protect her.

That scenario could paint the rebellion not only as a failure of the empire but also personal to the diamonds. What would create more drama? a ramdom solder rebelling a killing a diamond or some one close to the autority betraying the trust of the people who made her?

Well you have to remember, fusions are a weapon of war, so all in all, they aren't used very much by Homeworld forces, except in all out war. It's one of the things that separates the Crystal Gems from them, in that they readily and regularly use fusion, and between various gem castes rather than the same gems fusing. I don't want Jasper to join the gems, but I also don't like that she got corrupted.

Undoing the corruption seems like end-of-the-series level shit. Once Steven can do that, there's no reason for him not to un-corrupt all of the bubbled gems, and tens of thousands of gems being introduced does not seem like a healthy direction for the show.

So essentially, Jasper's character has been killed off. She might come back at the very, very end of the show, but who cares at that point.

I was looking forward to her being a recurring, assholish villain, causing ruckus and plotting shenanigans.

Jasper's corruption is different from the other corruptions. She wasn't corrupted from the nuke, but essentially caught it like a disease. She was also JUST corrupted, as opposed to being corrupted for thousands of years.

She could easily come back.

We know corruption is of the mind, and the biggest hurdle is that they don't remember who they were. Jasper was herself until very fucking recently, so she obviously remembers herself. She also as a very tangible connection to Steven, even more so than Centi, and look how far that got her.

Also, she's the only gem in existence to be corrupted through fusion. For all we know that means she's easily fixable in a way the others aren't.

I also like another theory that states that PD was the Gem-making expert of the diamonds. I imagine that she was trying to make a new type of Gem - a Gem Healer - and she used a quartz as the base because they're so much sturdier than other gems. Much like in your theory, none of her powers would be directly attributed to combat due to her new role as a healer:

- Bubble to protect self and others
- shield replacing normal weapon as a sort of redundancy guard
- floating herself and others as a safety precaution
- sentient plants as scouts as to not risk injuring herself or other gems
- healing tears, induced by an increased sense of empathy for the injured.

Pink Diamond hadn't counted on her creation feeling sympathy for non-Gems, and thus the rebellion came as a surprise. However, it would also explain Rose's mindset of it being okay to not be what you were designed for; she was a healer with the design of a warrior.

Sidenote: I also think that Era 2 gems like Peridot are shorter with fewer powers not because they're running out of resources, but because the other Diamonds didn't know PD's exact process for making Gems.
