Depending on your perspective and what you like about the show, Sadie's song or hit the diamond.

Sadie's song was basically a 9 minute pop music video with a cross dressing gag thrown in at the end. the crew even said they rushed it and wished they had done better.

Hit the diamond had some fan service stuff in it, and it jarringly showed a side of a few characters that had never even been hinted at, and introduced the tard-squad without any context making HW seem like a joke. Wrap that up with the "LOl-teh-sO-ranDOM!" plot of "LETS PLAY BASEBALL FOR NO REASON!" made a lot of us question where the show was going, and if it ever was as good as we thought.

how does naming a specific example mean its the only one I can name? besides it really was the worst

but honest its just a piece of the trend that slowly turned everyone against AT. It has no clear direction and the writing shows that, they invent random plot threads, forget, retcon or ignore them at random

Finn, Jake, PB and Marcy all have developed a lot over the seasons, but they also completely forget that development and will act out of character if the plot of an episode calls for it

Could this show ever come to a conclusion that wasn't the utter defeat (or befriending) of the Diamond's and the controlling ways of Homeworld? That would have to be a ridiculously huge leap forward from where the plot is now, but without it a conclusion would have a sense of persistent danger and unaccomplished ambitions for the characters which would be unsettling to end on.

Name all the arcs that never got completed. There is no "trend." We have multiple new writters almost every season. Name all the episodes where they act out of character. PB and Marcy have always been consistent.

I have a bit of a crazy theory. What if Steven doesn't become a crystal gem, what if Connie doesn't become a crystal gen, but Stevonnie does?

Think about it for a sec; she's clearly worthy, given she defeated Jasper, and there's been some reasons to believe she will.

Steven and Connie both already have an amazing relationship, no doubt. Maybe even a bit romantic. So why is Stevonnie returning so much? Connie was pretty much only present during the episode to fuse with Steven. It's not bizarre to assume Stevonnie's been returning for some crystal gem foreshadowing. Not only that, but there's going to be Buddy's Book and Stevonnie's Training coming up soon.

So why would they stay permanently fused? Connie could potentially be dying of old age or a terminal illness, prompting Steven to keep her safe in Stevonnie.

There's no clear answer either way.

Honestly, the only thing I haven't seen refuted fully is the hair color issue at this point.
Pearl's hair is, according to the book, pink. We've never seen a single gem change their hair color.
Only Garnet changing from cotton candy to her current color, but that is more from mixing her hair colors better as a fusion, so there's no evidence a normal gem could do so.
