Dr Seuss was a furry freak...welp time to burn all my books
>>85418828
I like how he created the Horton character with Jim Carey in Mind when he'd turn his cartoon into a movie. Seuss was nothing if not forward thinking.
>there exist authors or cartoonists that aren't furries or pedophiles

So?
>>85418828
>Not wanting to flow the fuzzy poon
Well why don't you just come out and admit that you're gay?
>>85418828
Did he make any erotic stuff for real though? Like Tesuka.
>>85419902
At the Suess store in Chicago there was some furry nudes

Carl Barks did worse.
Spoilered because, there's nothing TECHNICALLY showing, but it still feels... wrong.

If you're old enough to string a halfway decent sentence together and post on 4Chan, you better not be reading Dr. Seuss anymore.
>>85429257
Dr Suess is for all ages. My high school gave every student a copy of "Oh The Places You'll Go" as a graduation present.
>>85420043
>Carl Barks draws furry porn and Disney still let him work there.
>Harlan Ellison screams about sucking cocks while doing a Mickey Mouse voice in the cafeteria and he gets fired on his first day
It's just not fair I tell ya.

We read the Butter Battle Book in a Sociology class junior year.
>>85429257
I'm a kindergarten teacher and reading back on some Dr.seuss this dude was fucking brilliant. the colors, the world building, being fearless to just create new fucking concepts on the spot, word play. some of his books are fucking great.
A proud moment of mine is when I had a huge conversation with the little guys using the book On Beyond Zebra.
It's really nice how unfucked little kids brains are and how perfectly Dr.Seuss can play with that.
>>85429257
wow anon you're so cool and mature
>>85429257
>>you can't appreciate solid authors/artists just because they mostly did media for babies
You sound autistic. Almost everyone loves Theodore Geisel. Also his work was more than his children's books, he has a lot of political cartoons and a lot of paintings not made for any particular age group. Dude is well loved because he was generally creative and inspiring.
>>85430394
Oh and to continue, even a lot of his books for tiny children had double messages for adults. Horton Hears a Who, for example:
>Geisel supported the Japanese American internment during World War II. His treatment of the Japanese and of Japanese Americans (between whom he often failed to differentiate) has struck many readers as a moral blind spot.[67] On the issue of the Japanese, he is quoted as saying:
>>>But right now, when the Japs are planting their hatchets in our skulls, it seems like a hell of a time for us to smile and warble: "Brothers!" It is a rather flabby battle cry. If we want to win, we've got to kill Japs, whether it depresses John Haynes Holmes or not. We can get palsy-walsy afterward with those that are left.[68]
>After the war, though, Geisel overcame his feelings of animosity, using his book Horton Hears a Who! (1954) as an allegory for the Hiroshima bombing and the American post-war occupation of Japan, as well as dedicating the book to a Japanese friend.[69]
>>85421948
>People have been furries ever since the beginning of time.
You're thinking the tail is wagging the dog. Humans have been making anthropomorphic representations of anything and everything, not just animals. Plants, trees, rivers, mountains, trains, toasters, sausages, love, luck, death, justice, freedom. Animals are just one subject out of many, they aren't anything special in this regard.
When everyone's a furry, no one is.
>>85430601
>>85421948
oh look it's this argument again, gotta love it. Definitely still gonna side with that it's in all peoples nature.it's everyone on /co/ is self-aware of it. Furry is an internet maymay buzz word

Get to it. Go look for those treasure maps at yardsales or something, Smutdiana Bones.
And has there been any word of the artbook Tezuka's wife was talking about after the discovery of his stash?
>>85429257
By that logic, none of us should be going on this board anymore.
>>85439135
Didn't even know there were plans for an artbook. Closest thing right now are vols 1 & 2 of Eros 1000, which isn't an artbook but a compilation of sex-themed stories from Tezuka's manga (some of which have barely anything to do with it).

No Way! Dr. Seuss was very forward-thinking, that's why he made Cat in the Hat with Mike Meyers in mind! Look at how great he was!
So sad we had to deal with those awful drawings until his real inner brilliance could come out.
>>85429257
you've obviously never seen his WW2 era political cartoons before

Barks used to draw adult and/or political comics before Disney, drawings like these are just meant to be funny.
Pic related was sketched when he got retirement from his job.

>>85418828
All cartoonists are huge perverts. I'm surprised anyone on /co/ wouldn't be familiar with this simple fact.
>>85443892
There isn't but he mentions the incident in one of his books. He's joking to a group of animators about a Disney-themed porno when a member of staff overhears him and he was sent out.

>>85443961
Wasent walt notorisly wierd about that sort of thing.
Maybe the one artist to never draw anything lewd
>>85443961
I remember the story, he told it on one of his segments of a show that they used to run on early Sci-Fi Channel (long before it became Syfy, the Syfilis network.).
Basically, Harlan could do a mean Mickey Mouse impression. He got hired to work at Disney, and went to work. They showed him his nice office, he went around and met folks and did the handshake and tour bit, then it was lunchtime, and he went to the cafeteria and sat down with other folks and they started shooting the breeze. Some folks asked him what he planned to do and he started joking around about making a porno, doing the voices and stuff. Everybody was rolling on the floor for a bit, then it got quiet, and Harlan stops and turns around, and there's Walt's son standing right behind him.
And that's the story of how Harlan Ellison got fired on his first day of work at Disney.
>>85443959
In 99.99% of circumstances, if a cartoonist, animator, or otherwise visual artist says they haven't drawn porn or lewds they are absolutely full of shit.
>>85445327
Maybe it was just very specific brand protection? He had a very defined vision of family entertainment and whimsy, and if the public even got a whiff of it it might be destroyed.
Of course you can't catch all of it but you quash what you can see.

Because drawing nudes is almost mandatory for budding artists. It helps them work on anatomy and poses so they can have a better understanding of how the human body works.
