I wonder how this is playing out in her bug brain.

Thinking of ants and bees, younger ones stay in the hive/colony to tend to young and the queen, older and veteran ones leave to do the more dangerous gathering tasks. Scouts are generally born into that role. Usually its just warriors that go everywhere.
But their race don't seem strictly insect tier since they have understanding of respect, insult, compliment, and trade/services.

Yannit has been graduated from a small dwelling and assignment of low level tasks to live in the main structure of the settlement, with what could fairly be called a "stay at home scout" I suppose.

Some people said she won't go nuts because feeling like part of a group would keep her sane, but now she's going to encounter even less people aside from skittery guards. Even Isher may have to go back to grunt work unless she gets a promotion.

This exploration of culture and psychology/anatomy is the meat and potatoes of this comic, and the pace is good.

Like what others have said, SAI's stabilizer tool is a godsend. But with that said, any artist's lines will tend to start out as scratchy, short instances of "petting the line," but after a few years (or faster, if you do a bunch of exercises focused on it), we tend to notice that our hands have become slightly more steady and comfortable when drawing important lines.

Hey- while this thread's up, let me ask something. What are the locals' thoughts on the foreground/background shading in this one?

Initially I was going to use flat/hard shades on both the background and characters, but out of curiosity, I gave the characters hard/flat shades, but went with soft shading on the backgrounds.

I'm not completely set on any method just yet, but I do like how the different shading styles seem to help the characters in the foreground "pop" out a bit more, while also allowing for a bit more definition on the rock surfaces and such.

Did this have the same effect on anyone else, and/or did the foreground/background shading styles seem to clash at all?

We only know from author info leaks that they do go into heat, and that Kass is going to have a hard time during it.

Considering the Matriarch is able to dictate when and who they fuck and that females almost never leave their safe space, they must have some degree of control. Also that they always have guards present, and don't just fuck them by default. Or she may only have made the connection between "in trouble for selling something to someone" to "bought a thingy from a Yinglet, turned into a femYinglet".

Since we know she's both clever and long-planning, we're not really sure what she knows and what she's playing at.
