What was sad is she was a victim of circumstance.
One of many A sweet natured bright young girls consumed and tossed aside by the behemoth of show business.

She wanted to be an architect.
She died wanting to be an architect.

She spent her entire life being someone else because its who er show business parents wanted her to be.
Then the people who gave her fame wanted her to be.

She began to associate being loved with being anyone but herself. Its easy to picture turning to substance abuse to cope.

Ive seen it. Normal fags with real genuine passions that they have to hide because the've been made to be ashamed of the things they love.

She only brought it up to Bojack because she was the closest thing to a real friend she'd ever had.

Honestly, I agree that it'd be a cop out but its difficult to see an alternative solution after three seasons of soul-crushing depression. But the writers are smart so I expect them to end his story in a way that's appropriate without being contrived.

That's what makes it so fucked up. Sarah Lynn was on the same downward spiral as Bojack. They were contemporaries in being shitty people and they found solace in each other for that. And then she dies after winning an Oscar, the same award Bojack wasn't even nominated for, after realizing that award didn't bring her any of the self-actualization she thought it would. Bojack basically watched himself die and now he has to deal with that fact until he actually does.
