I don't know, I like the design of Smoky Quartz. The difference between Stevonnie/Smoky Quartz and Garnet/Opal/Sugilite/Sardonyx/Alexandrite is that Steven is half human. Stevonnie looks mostly human because of Connie and SQ looks mostly gem because of Amethyst. You also have to take Steven's whole look into consideration because he's a pudgy little kid. Expecting him to look like a full gem fusion is stupid.

Overpower, the work you're looking for is overpower.

Garnet cannot overpower Jasper. She can certainly hit and Jasper will feel it, but Jasper is clearly physicaly superior, if only by a small margin and has more combat centered tricks up her sleeve, and her punches hit as hard as Garnet's with the gauntlets on. Her helmet is an extra layer of protection that Garnet doesn't have.

In a pure 1v1 final destination Jasper has the advantage, but Garnet has future vision and is less hotheaded. She's better suited to using variables in her favor, such as the ship's reactor.

Garnet can defeat Jasper if variables are present, but she cannot overpower her and loses in power and in a battle of attrition

I don't know why anyone is salty over this. Fusions are an enormous power boost. The fact that you MUST be a fusion to even scratch Jasper is enormously telling in how strong she is. Nothing about this is unbelievable.

The only thing that bugged me is that Jasper barely tried in her last fights with fusions. If she could nearly beat Garnet, she could hold her own against other fusions even if she wouldn't ultimately win.

This show HAS to get renewed past season 5/3B, unless Yellow Diamond is the only true Big Bad we get (which would be disappointing). In the fight on the ship it was shown she could hold her own against Jasper, throwing her in the reactor was just way to make sure the victory came but it doesn't mean Garnet NEEDS variables. Hell she was shown to be just as powerful as Jasper when Jasper charged at her and she stopped her. Jasper may be superior considering she was basically made for fighting but it doesn't mean someone like Garnet couldn't over power her or defeat her.

I definitely want them to be future antagonists. Yellow Diamond could be dealt with on Earth, the gems could deal with Blue Diamond on Homeworld, and then the final battle could be some massive showdown against White Diamond and Homeworld with the Cluster, and Temple fusion, and a bunch of healed corrupted gems, and humans fighting back. But I meant that even if YD was the only antagonist and the show ended with season 5/3B, I don't see how they'll be able to put in their usual variety of episodes and finish her off at the end without the ending being bad or feeling rushed.
