What's the difference between Suicide Squad and Thunderbolts?

This guy said it pretty well. The Thunderbolts are public figures. They have freaking action figures made of them. The Suicide Squad is a deep cover government operation. Thunderbolts also actually have some hope of redemption. Most members of the Suicide Squad are incapable of seeing past their own egos and petty wishes.

Thunderbolts are villains pretending to be heroes, it only turned into a Suicide Squad copy 10 years down in the road.

x-force are heroes many of whom are often regarded by the government to be criminals
