Co production. They actually just gave them money. It was an attempt to expand into foreign markets.

Hard to say if it was successful, it got a cold shoulder like most foreign movies but it did lead to studios making cg animation.

Disney and DW domestic stuff still crush it but at least if they disappear they don't take the industry with them.
