When does the review embargo lift?

Never
Why is there even an embargo on reviews
>>85059657
Because it's shit
>>85059591
Now.
I saw it, it's shit.
You're welcome.

Red carpets right now

Why do you think? If something might not get a favorable review, companies will do everything they can to make sure potential customers don't hear that it's shit for as long as possible.

Which is funny, because with twitter they've lost that fight for the most part.
>>85059657
so when the movie is bad, people who haven't seen it yet don't hear that it's bad
>>85059657
Sometime to prevent spoilers to circulate to quickly on the web.

This is the real answer. There is always an embargo on every movie, the only time it's indicative of quality is if critics aren't granted pre-screenings at all (which is rare, and for blockbusters it's almost unheard of).
I say this as someone who hated BvS and has low expectations for #skwad.

>Why is there even an embargo on reviews
Every website and paper want to be the "first" to review the film, as that can earn them more clicks. To make it fair, since often reviewers don't see the advanced screenings at the same time, the idea is to give them equal chance to publish at the same time. This also stops people from writting shitty short reviews in order to publish faster.
Now, having the embargo too close to debut is obviouly bad. But having it any earlier than three days prior is uncommon. CA3:: Civil War had an unusually early review because Marvel was confident that it would be praised, like 2 or three weeks prior.

For companies, it's so they can have a better control on how the public hears about the movie.
But I've seen quite a few journalists say that they like embargo's because it gives them a chance to reflect on the movie/game/whatever instead of having to rush out a review as quickly as possible.
As long as they don't come after a movie's release, I'm okay with them.

Incoming standing ovations men women and children crying over the beauty of the iconic imagery in the film.

>Why is there even an embargo on reviews
I think it's fairly obvious at this point that it's because the movie sucks dicks.
>>85061256
Is that always the case?
>>85065718
Yes. If a movie is good and the company producing it is confident that it's such, reviews might even come in a week in advance. Holding off reviews until premier is blatant damage control.
