I can't say. Like, I don't know who calls the shots at Channel Awesome that makes all their content so terrible. Is it just that they know nothing about filmmaking? Doug seems to take all his knowledge from cartoons, from the overly shit SFX to the way his physical comedy is staged.

Every movie they've made has been technically trash. Kickassia was incredibly amateurish, it's clear they spent all their budget flying the cast to Molassia. But then they didn't improve at all for Suburban Knights or To Boldly Flee.

When he finally got that studio for Demo Reel, I was expecting a leap forward, but it never happened. It's incomprehensible they spent all that money on a soundstage then only used the offices that are attached to it for shooting, and a small room to the side with a green screen (you can see it in some of the BTS videos). Like, I actually can't believe it. The soundstage seems to have only been used since for the Pop Quiz Hotshot show, which was just a terrible, high-school tier set - and even on that, for the pilot episode they used the wrong equipment throughout (like a shotgun mic as the host's handheld mic).

Linkara I've noticed has a similar problem - he got all this money for his movie - spent it on renting out a soundstage - built a reasonably convincing set for a starship on it, but then that's where the professionalism ended. The set was lit with house lights, so it looked like shit, and the camerawork/sound/etc was no better than any of his web videos. The 'bar' in the movie was someone's living room, and the alien planet was the back half of the studio they weren't using, so it just looked like a soundstage with cardboard boxes. It literally seems like all he cared about was having a starship and paying for people to fly to him to talk about how good he is on camera (since that's all the movie's dialogue consists of).

I'm amazed the jannies haven't gotten to this yet.
