I dunno: I think Del Mundo was great in this issue. Here's an exercise to demonstrate just how great an artist he is: imagine this issue without the word bubbles and sound effects--completely mute, no dialog but with the same art. Can you tell what's happening between characters by the way the way the artist sets up each panel and depicts body language, facial expressions alone?

I think you could in this case. That's a lot harder than most people realize, and Del Mundo excels at this sort of thing. It's easy to keep people engaged with a lot of action, but to do an understated and subtle story like this and keep it interesting through the interpersonal tension depicted is really, really great.

I picked up the first arc because of the Cho art (it was about as forgettable and pointless as I expect from Pak who tends to churn out paint-by-numbers mediocrity); and dropped it as soon as Cho left (the second artist was AMAZINGLY shitty just using photoshop filters on photographs for backgrounds ect).

I only decided to check this out because of the Del Mundo Black Hulkbusting Panther showing up everywhere; but I was pleasantly surprised at how well this whole issue came together.

I agree with the people saying that this issue works due to the great art (the mood, expressions, and choice of shots ... the VISUAL storytelling) without which it'd just be a boring filler issue of people standing around talking and posturing.

But I disagree with the people saying that it sucks or that the writing sucks. It doesn't. It's just mediocre.

Great art can't really keep completely shit writing from being completely shit. If you doubt that then go read the main Civil War II issues that this ties into where the art has been absolutely stellar but they're still a chore to slog through.

Panel 5: Amadeus is reaching for the door--which we can clearing infer, even without seeing the door knob or most of the door--the power of the body language in the previous panel makes it apparent what Amadeus wants. Note that we can't see all of his face, but Maddy does, and her expression makes it clear that she thinks it's a bad idea.

Finally, note the way the action and bodies in all of these panels are set up to lead a reader's eyes cleanly and rapidly through the action on the page: Maddy is placed closer the the right of the first panel, making it easier to move to the next panel on the right; Amadeus' frown leads down off-panel to the next panel; the strong vertical lines of the hall lead down through the entirety of the panel, and the scene is off-set a little to the right, leading off-panel a bit to the next panel, completing the page.

It's the little things like being able to depict expressions, body language and space within a panel that make a big difference.

Dr. Midas and The Orb broke into Uatu's place to steal weapons from his armory, after getting caught by Uatu, they managed to rip out one of Uatu's eyes which apparently keeps everything he's ever viewed stored in them (so all knowledge of everything in the history of Earth).

Fury saw that Uatu's place was broken into, so he went to check out what was up. Once he realised that one of Uatu's eyes and a bunch of his weapons had been stolen, he demanded Uatu tell him who did it so he could stop them before horrible things happen. Uatu went all "I do not act" and so he wouldn't tell Fury who did it.

This pissed Fury off and he realised that the only way to find out who did it would be with Uatu's other eye. So he killed Uatu and stole Uatu's other eye hoping that he'd be able to use it to track down who did it.

Original Sin was a pretty shit comic.

If it's his job to kill Banner before/during a transformation, then he'd logically have to be on Banner 24/7 for...the rest of his natural life right? Well, anyways, that entire plot is so fucking stupid and I hate that Marvel editorial let Bendis cook this shit up. Banner would never entrust his suicide to a guy like Hawkeye in the first place. They don't have that kinda history together in the 616. Also, Banner is usually OK with the Hulk as we've had 25 years of stories hammering in the fact that Banner is Hulk and Hulk is Banner. They are 1 and the same and have come to agreements with each other. It's why the Hulk has usually been more intelligent instead of the brainless misunderstood monster seen throughout the 70s and most of the 80s. Stories like Planet Hulk or the Hulk family stuff would never happen with a rampaging Hulk that Banner is too afraid to let live.

It turns out that all this time, Fury has actually been a secret cosmic assassin that's been single-handedly taking out 90% of the threats against Earth, from demons to aliens to who knows what else and had a secret space base full of various cosmic weapons and tech.

Why would a writer bother to show this page in the middle of an emotional scene? Why show Clint training in the middle of nowhere, far from any action, and show us that he is following the news? Why, if he's not going to take action? And why is he in a cabin, in a forest, and not in a small town or something if the public opinion, acording to CW II 4, is alright and supports his actions?

I'm calling it now: Clint and Hank plot a plan to put Banner out of scene for good, faking his death. Bruce is alive and he's living in that cabin, and Clint is now woth him, until the CW storm ends. The worked on the plan when Clunt got hit by the vision, went to Hank, told him about the arrow and they then went to Banner with a fakedead arrow. Clint offered himself as a sacrificial lamb, even if that meant that he was going to face the worst senence posible.

He was supposedly "cured" of his Hulkness, but I always thought that was bullshit because he was born with the power as opposed to being some science experiment copycat.
