Hello Storyteller.

>let's see how far we get into this
Tired?

Also, just putting this out there, but I have rather serious doubts anyone on /co/ has actually seen or cares about The Rocketeer. Just saying.
>>
>>85034529
I don't think you'd get away with this today, but it's all done with a light ironic touch, which helps
>>
>>85034543
yeah, tired and achy and cranky, and this is long
>>
>>85034560
>>
though >>85031744 isn't even 10 stores, it does make me wish cw2 is failing everywhere else
>>
>>85034545
Kind of like the racism in Rising Damp.
>>
>>85034545
>I don't think you'd get away with this today, but it's all done with a light ironic touch, which helps
Eh, they are discussing ways to avoid being exploited, so I doubt this would raise any stink.

>>85034560
>yeah, tired and achy and cranky, and this is long
>cranky
I thought that was my thing.
>>
>>85034670
Convergence 2.0
>>
>>85034670
It feels like the six stores Rich talks to are the exceptions, the main CWII book sounds like it's selling well for the most part

maybe the sell through in general hasn't been so hot? but even still I don't expect sales to dip much since shops know they'll probably sell out of the bins
>>
>>85034637
>>
>>85034670
I'm also seeing Twitter falling over itself to spin "Middy's doing well in trades" into "This proves DCYou was an immense success that they killed early because they hate progressiveness"
>>
>>85034740

goddammit, MIDNIGHTER'S GETTING ANOTHER MINI! like that's maybe the best out of everyone in dcyou.
>>
>>85034543
With that I agree with Busiek, stop calling sequels reboots.
>>
>>85034740
lol, how do they rationalize away the sales figures? Just 'the industry shouldn't work like that anymore'?
>>
>>85034765

best result that is. i did love it tho.

need to get that vertigo book of orlandos
>>
>>85034768
What about the Reboot reboot?
>>
>>85034780
"Clearly the trade sales are so huge that they should have kept the failing ongoings on so they'd make more trades"

IDK, it's Wheeler logic, it ignores fiscal reality as usual, and it also raises the question of "so how are the other trades doing"
>>
>>85034816
>>
>>85034543

i've seen it and totally Did Not Get It (except John Locke as Howard Huges) but I'm so on board with the pitch for the new one.
>>
>>85034834
>>
>>85034787
I can take or leave Cyborg Superman (but Cyborg Superdad is a +) but I'm actually really looking forward to Orlando's Supergirl Rebirth. And I'm there erryday for "Lar-On, Kryptonian Werewolf"
>>
>>85034859
>>
>>85034874
>>
>>85034816
relaunching them as sequels would give more #1 money though

>it also raises the question of "so how are the other trades doing"
if it gets a sequel I'm guessing it did okay
Midnighter must've done better than the rest for it to be singled out
Didio said at SDCC that poison ivy's trades need to do good for a chance at another book since she did just okay in floppies
>>
>>85034768
Wait, this is a sequel, thus making it a legacy thing? That makes it even less of an issue.

>some black chick sees the exploits of pulp hero
>"That's cool. Imma do that!"
>/co/ REEEEEEEES
And again, why is anyone raising a stink about this? No offense to any legitimate fans, but The Rocketeer is the classic pulp thing that people barely remembers exists. Come on.
>>
>>85034884

oh, the League's gonna fuss over that, they already think they were promised an ongoing
>>

>>
>>85034916
It's weirdly revisionist, given the time period.
>>
>>85034816
Maybe they can do a Midnighter coffeeshop AU where Midnighter brutally kills and hardcore fucks different people in coffeeshops each issue.

The Ivy thing is weird. There's people that'll stan real hard for Ivy, like even on this board there's the one anon who's there for any true love Harley/Ivy stuff regardless of the context.

It's in the same space as the Batgirl stuff I guess. There's an incarnation of the character that doesn't line up all that much with the history, but people want it real bad.

Yes, we wouldn't want any historical innacuracy in a story about a guy who uses a jetpack to fight Soviet super science. A black chick doing that would be ridiculous.

I like how the trade sales of one book suddenly equals the trade sales of like 20 books

general sensitivity about perceived "whitewashing" has gone up especially since the GitS thing, but this isn't whitewashing, even if it might be Mighty Whitey, but the nitty-gritty of what a "co-production with China" means has been completely omitted from most angry reactions, as has the distinction between what a mainland and what a diaspora audience dig

I don't think ScarJo is a very good action girl actress. Some actors/actresses have the physical presence for that, some don't. Most successfully as Black Widow who is pretty background in the Marvel movies.

>Black inductees found discrimination and segregation prevalent in the armed forces. Military and government officials rejected desegregation, some asserting the belief that blacks were inferior. Segregation policies reflected the notion that blacks did not make adequate leaders and worked best under white supervision. The United States Army enlisted black soldiers into separate regiments; the Navy confined blacks to service roles as cooks, janitors, and waiters; the Marine Corps, for much of the war, excluded blacks altogether. African-American servicemen were sent to segregated training camps, often on military bases in the South where black GIs were harassed for defying Jim Crow laws or, simply, for wearing a military uniform. Army base chapels, mess halls, and entertainment centers excluded or segregated black soldiers.

>Even Nazi prisoners of war enjoyed more rights than black American servicemen. German prisoners of war held in United States military bases were commonly permitted to dine with white U.S. soldiers in facilities that excluded black U.S. soldiers. When Lena Horne, an African-American songstress, performed in a southern GI camp, German prisoners of war were given front row seats while black servicemen were relegated to the back of the theater. Horne delivered her performance in the aisles before her follow black Americans, but, shaken by the experience, she ended her military tour.

Most of the comics "media" hates DC. The pro-Marvel bias is real (it may sometimes be justified, but it's still real).

I think Marvel just has more leverage with these sites to cut off their access to interviews, previews, etc. So they always have to tread carefully in attacking Marvel. Even with something like the Cap Controversy, a lot of the posts chose their words very carefully (unlike on Twitter).

DC doesn't have the same leverage so they can be dumped on at will.

I remember reading that Tony Jaa watched wire-fu movies and didn't realize they were impossible, which is why he does such crazy stunts in his movies.

I kinda wish J'onn would stay in his true form all the time. Honestly, he doesn't look that strange. At most, he looks like he could be out of a Mass Effect game.
>>
>>85037034
I mean he's already a green neanderthal in bondage gear and a cape, being a freaky alien might make him seem LESS bizarre.
>>
>>85036191
...There are laws against mind-reading?
>>
>>85036925
This is such great art for J'onn
>>
>>85037034

didn't he have it for a little bit like post-Infinite Crisis? or maybe a mix.

If Johns wants to use his power for good he needs to get J'onn back on the JL permanent like. Dude is the heart!
>>
>>85036787
>I said "then how come animals don't fly, surely they don't believe in gravity", to which he shook his head and said "you don't get it, dude."

lmfao

Yeah, the green man look kinda gives off a bit of the uncanny valley effect. His "Fear not, hoo-mans!" look is a little off.

>>85037111
In the 31st century, there are. But then, J'onn is in the present, and will surely never be in a situation where he ends up living in the future. :^)

Is that John fucking Cleese?

Martian Manhunter is underrated as fuck.

Probably partially because of his jobber status and JLU "I'll try to read his mi-AAAUUGGGHH"

I've gotta read the Ostrander run of his someday.
>>
>>85037276
Ugh. That's a bit real.

>>85037295
That however, is hilarious.
>... Alien.
Nice touch.

Ostrander is good

there's a Mahnke issue in there that's relevant to our interests

I grew up with Marvel and I vastly prefer DC nowadays.
>>
>>85037405
Same here. But I never hated DC at all.

Some people are just born console warriorz.

>>I don't think ScarJo is a very good action girl actress.

She really isn't. She's horrible as Black Widow, and probably the most genuine delivery of a line she ever gave in any of the MCU movies was a dainty little "Thank you" at the beginning of Age of Ultron.

G'night OP

Thanks for posting as always, Storyteller.

This trade was a bit disappointing aside from the J'onn story at the end. JLI is a bit hit and miss, honestly.

Justice League Americas, based in I'm gonna guess Brasilia? That's a solid series pitch.

If "Hero" is any indication, Heavy Form. That movie was hilariously propogandic IMO.

Both companies have good stuff and absolute shit, and both companies have been run by complete incompetents. Having a horse in the race is stupid. Just like what's good, and get mad when normies don't know who belongs to which company, like Carol Danvers being completely unrelated to Shazam.

>>85037490
We have to get more Rodan out of this profile.
That's gold right there. 6 inch lifts to be more imposing! Constant quoting of cowboy movies!

>her father disappeared some twenty years ago

Well, that gun certainly isn't loaded now.
>>
>>85037590
Razumihin is basically the Russian Clock King, and his aides are basicly Lady Nikolai Volkovs on the road to diabetes.

These profiles are fantastic, yet more proof that Who's Who is vital.
