No, I enjoy it. I wasn't too sure the first time I watched an ep last week but I sat down and watched all that there was today and had a swell hour.

why do animators even think the camp setting is interesting at all?
not a lot of people went to camp so its hardly relatable for most viewers
camp shows always fall into the same cliches as the last camp cartoon
and the shows that were camp shows weren't that popular anyways so its not like they're tagging along to an established trend
>>
>>85017028
Are summer camps even real?

Anyway, I've always liked stories with kids going on adventures. Get that Stand By Me feel going.
>>
>>85017065
if a writer wants to do stories about kids going on adventures they can make the setting more domestic so its more relatable for the viewer
there are really few shows about a group of actual kids going on adventures
>>
>>85017151
Setting kid adventure stories in a camp rather than just in some urban environment has multiple advantages:

-The kids are in a new setting that is unfamiliar to them, meaning there is more for them to explore and discover.
-Nature presents varied environments and that can evoke different moods (a spooky forest, an awe-inspiring waterfall, etc)
-Nature also presents endless unique challenges that the kids may have never encountered before (dangerous wildlife, getting lost in the woods, climbing rocks and trees, etc)
-Camps bring together children of varied backgrounds, personalities, and interests, allowing for a quirky cast of main and side characters.
-The bringing together of characters with those types of differences and watching them form friendships can be more entertaining than with characters who are more similar by virtue of a more localized setting.

Just to name a few.

Camp Weedonwantcha actually makes sense because it's not a camp, it's just kids abandoned in the woods with no adult supervision. Camp Lazlo also made sense because the actual authority at the camp was locked in a closet and Lumpus was just an escaped mental patient.

No other camp show makes sense because they DO NOT let kids just run around the fucking woods unsupervised. They don't even let members of the US military do that!

>>85027752
Wouldn't it be less edgy than a place where terrible parents abandon their kids to die? We have a kid seemly burying another kid right in the begin of the comic
>>
>>85031038
>they DO NOT let kids just run around the fucking woods unsupervised.
As someone who's spent almost every summer of my childhood at camps, generally they have structured activities throughout the day, and then maybe about an hour or two of free time each day. They don't generally don't mind if you wander around a bit, as long as the adults know where you are going, and you don't go too far.
>>
>>85034452
I'm sure they do. Will they have enough is the question.

Something cute written with heart, and feeling is objectively less edgy than a series where kids cuss for comedic effect, and with a blatant Hitler character.
>>
>>85035000
Dolph is great though. Plus, yeah, they're completely different series with a similar premise.
