What are the best runs in the series what are the worst runs? Who are the best writers and artists?
Discuss anything Amazing Spider-Man #1-#700
It's all downhill after #38 desu. Romita, Conway, Dematteis and particularly Roger Stern's stuff is great but Ditko's is some of the best cape comics in history and no one really comes close.
Also be warned that there were tons of Spidey comics like Spectacular, Web of, team-ups, annuals etc. etc. so you're not gonna get a lot of the full runs just sticking to ASM

Luckily I found a torrent with all of the annuals and mini series included. I'm on issue 2 and so far the writing is laughable to say the least but I understand why. The art i'm in love with. There are some actually really great moments so far.

Just checked my folder. I have all 39 annuals. And in the mini series section I have Swing Shift, One More Day, Kraven's First Hunt, The Short Halloween, and Brand New Day. Does that seem good enough on top of the 700 issues?

If your goal is just to read all of ASM then you're fine but there's a good deal of mediocrity so if you want the best Spider-Man comics I would just go by the better runs. For example I would say Roger Stern's is the best run the character next to Ditko's and by googling I came up with this insanity:
Amazing Spider-Man" #206, #224–227, #229–252, #580, #627–629, "Amazing Spider-Man Annual" #15–17, #22, '97, "Amazing Spider-Man Family" # 7, "Marvel Team-Up Annual" # 3, "Peter Parker: Spider-Man" Vol. 2 # 11, "Spectacular Spider-Man" #43, #45–52, #54–61, #85, #259–261, "Spectacular Spider-Man Annual" #3, "Spider-Man: Hobgoblin Lives" #1–3, "Spider-Man: Revenge of the Green Goblin" #1–3, "Spider-Man Team-Up" #2, "Untold Tales of Spider-Man" #–1, #25," Untold Tales of Spider-Man: Strange Encounter," "Web of Spider-Man" #12, "Web of Spider-Man Annual" #3

Thanks a lot, I just found ANOTHER torrent full of the extra stuff and I think most of this if not all of it is found in there.

The early stuff is fun. I love the 80s stuff - namely Michelinie's and McFarlane's run.
McFarlane is my Spider-Man artist and I love the tone and story direction in the 80s.

That's good. It's such a pain in the ass but I guess comics were month to month back then, Kirby was really the only guy thinking in terms of an easy to collect longform story

*my favourite Spider-Man artist. I meant to say
>>84948660
Hey I just started doing the same
I've only read the first 6 but I'm gonna read it all
even the shitty parts
>>84948660
Once you get to the Clone Saga it's the point of no return. Spider-Man has never recovered from that.

I actually read the Venom saga about a year or two ago and I have to say, I loved it.

Same, good luck on getting through it all.

Which is very sad, I really hope once Marvel gets their shit together (if it ever happens) they can bring back good Spider-Man stories.
The Green Goblin teases are god tier

Yea here he is hanging with Jonah a full 8 issues before Harry is introduced and a full 14 before we're give the name Norman Osborn

The whole Strom issue really helped establish the reveal.
