Comics have literally nothing to do with it. The reason for the movie not happening is because of Perlmutter vs. Feige. Perlmutter wanted to do an Inhumans movie but Feige didn't. Feige wanted to do movies with female leads, and Perlmutter didn't because you can't sell toys for girls.

The compromise would be that Perlmutter would get Inhumans and Feige would get Captain Marvel. Now that Perlmutter isn't involved in Marvel Studios and Feige has total control, inhumans movie got scrapped and is likely going to get replaced by a Black Widow movie and more movies about female, LGBT, and minority heroes.

The option was Inhumans or Liberal Propaganda, and you faggots made your choice pretty clear.

Here's the thing though, they're not going to use TV actors in a major movie and if they did a movie, it'd be about the Royal Family. That's why Attilan and the Royal Family weren't allowed to be used in the show because they were going to get used in the movie.

But if AoS is allowed to use them in the show then that would mean either:

I never understood this complaint. Inhumans aren't second rate Eternals. Eternals have more in common with the New Gods than Inhumans in many ways, particularly tonally. I think people just see one Kirby creation that is distinctly his own and for whatever reason feel the need to take ones particular side going "this is Kirby's true greatest creation!" and shit rather than embracing them all. The Eternals and Inhumans serve two totally different and distinct functions narratively and for the universe's mythos. The Eternals are Gods in grand Kirby fashion hence all the greek myth parallels. The Inhumans were about a totally alien society. A place whose culture, history, way of life, and everything is so completely different than what the rest of humanities is. The big draw for Inhumans stories were always about culture clash. Either an inhuman living amongst the rest of society (like Medusa and Crystal often did) and how they would react, a non-inhuman going to Attilan and reacting to their culture (most notably Quicksilver but most superteams had a handful of trips there), or Attilan and inhuman society/culture vs. another nation/culture's (Inhumans vs. Shia'ar/Kree, Inhumans vs. USA/humanity, Inhumans vs. X-men)

Although, I guess they actually are second-rate Eternals in-canon.

I never understood the Game of Thrones comparison either, since that's not what they are at all. Yes there's a royal family, but it's not like there are OTHER royal families. There's only one person that ever vies for the throne and that's Maximus, who you can only have scheme his way up so often. You could probably do one good season off of that, but without making them a bigger part of the universe or having a bunch of crossovers which would be pretty much impossible.

I think the biggest issue is that to do Attilan justice, you need a way bigger budget than TV can do.

We know Perlmutter was the money man at first. He kept budgets down by paying the actors like shit. Because he hated that Xmen were at Fox he wanted to push the Inhumans as a replacement.

Feige didn't care about Inhumans but did want to make movies with female and/or black protagonists. Perlmutter didn't want to make those movies because he didn't think they'd sell.

After Age of Ultron slightly underperformed Disney reorganised Marvel Studios. Feige pushed Perlmutter out and Inhumans (which was Perlmutter's baby) got shelved indefinitely

Yeah, think about how fucking massive the X-men franchise got at the height of the popularity. It became so out of control that it's kind of hard to say you're a fan of the "x-men" and more that you're a fan of any number of the hundreds of x-men characters.

In the case of the Inhumans, that's basically just the Royal Family, and not really individually (besides Crystal) but as a whole. Fucking no one is going to bat for Triton or Gorgon and the only one that really deserves a solo series is Lockjaw, but as a unit combined with the setting of Attilan, they're great.

Which is why this only blitz on new inhumans everywhere kinda spoils that. It just introduces a bunch of new characters largely at the expense of the core. I want to read about bartender Black Bolt, not NYC Detective and his partner The Other Fire Guy on the Team. I don't want half my Crystal and Gorgon book spent on an arc for African Earth Bender.

Kevin Feige is president of Marvel Studios. Until September 2015, Feige answered to Perlmutter and they disagreed about many things. In September, management structure changed and Marvel Studios became kind of independent from Marvel Entertainment - Feige now answers to Alan Horn, Disney CEO.

Perlmutter's decisions affect comics and TV shows. He is responsible for the way Inhumans are promoted in comics. He used to affect films as well (I think that Inhumans film was his idea, but I'm not sure about that), but Feige had a hard time working with him. Their feud is one of the reasons why MCU films don't give a fuck about MCU TV shows.

The allegations - leaks coming from mostly Feige's side - was that the publishing side of Marvel had too many notes and would nit pick things to death, plus because the creative committee all had regular jobs (Quesada, Bendis, etc) it took too long for them to even give the notes.

I don't know how much input the Creative Committee had. Whedon said people didn't want him to use Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver and that sounds like it might have come from Perlmutter's side (why use two characters Fox also has the right to use?). And there have been stories that the publishing side wanted the Infinity Stones bullshit built up and the character-based stuff cut down.

It's hard to know, though. Feige naturally would argue that the movie would have done better if there hadn't been so many people who had the power to give notes. Disney agreed with him and let him consolidate his power. We'll see how it works out.
