Followinginitial online reports,The Hollywood Reportercan confirm that Johns now holds the title of President & Chief Creative Officer at the Warner Bros. division, answerable to Diane Nelson, who remains as President of DC Entertainment, President of Warner Bros. Consumer Products and President and Chief Content Officer of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
Johns received the new title when he waspromoted to head up DC's movie division alongside Jon Berg back in May. Already on board todevelop the standaloneBatmanmovie with Ben Affleck, it has since been revealed that Johns co-wrote the screenplay for Patty Jenkins'Wonder Womanwith Allan Heinberg, from a story by Johns, Heinberg and Zack Snyder.
The new position comes six years after Johns — whose comic book writing resume includes a 50-issue stint onJustice Leagueand lengthy runs onGreen Lantern,The FlashandJustice Society of America— was named as the CCO of DC Entertainment, a position which saw him involved in the development of TV shows includingThe FlashandLegends of Tomorrowin addition to DC's growing movie slate.
As his duties outside of comics grew, his comic book output decreased; in May, his final (for now) comic book titles were released: the 50th issue ofJustice Leagueandthe oversized DC Universe: Rebirthspecial issue, which started amassively successfulrelaunch of DC's superhero line in which creators worked with Johns to find new directions for the characters such as Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Arrow.
Johns' new title is one of a number of changes to the DC hierarchy in recent months; a number of additional internal changes have been made including John Cunningham going from VP of Content Strategy to SVP Sales and Trade Marketing and Amit Desai from SVP Marketing and Global Franchise Management to EVP Business & Marketing Strategy, Direct to Consumer and Global Franchise Management

Weird, I thought his promotion to CCO was much more recent than six years ago.
Still, happy for him living thr fanboy's dream.
>>84902673
Does that mean GL will appear in Justice League movie?
Credit where it's due, Rich had it first last night. I guess he does have some sources.
Good for Geoff but every time I hear about his promotions and shit I get selfishly upset because it means he'll be away from writing comics longer and I don't really care about movies or other adaptions at all.
So based cereal Lord is really going to save DCEU after saving comics.
>>84902792
Rich is right in some form or another like 80% of the time. He's also the only cunt writing about Marvel and DC who doesn't just copy-paste press releases but gives some actual insight to shitpost over.
I really don't get the hate
>>84902673
Green Lantern film when lads?
>a comic nerd went from writing ideas to DC, to being a top writer in the industry, to essentially being in charge of the entire damn company
Hard work pays off, dreams do come true.
Bad times don't last, but Bad Guys do.
>>84903108
Because he's an aggressive nerd and it's only ok to be an aggressive nerd if you do it anonymously
>>84903108
he bullied scanbro, fuck him
Why isn't he a woman president already.
>>84902883
>saving comics.
He wrote a shit ton of edgy comics that sold so much the company made it their house style for writing, and when they got called out on it, Johns put the blame on Watchmen
So we're gettig a fuckton of sellable Marvel-tier shlock and when they get called out for being stale... que blaming the Avengers or somthing
>>84902749
too late films already in production. Definitely in the next one.
>>84903188
Can you not read the OP? Diane Nelson is the President
>>84903154
>All of the fucking money WCW had and they never thought of sending Scott to a decent rehab or a shrink at the very least
Is Didio finally off the hook for being the go-to scapegoat for everything /co/ doesn't like that DC does?
>>84902792
He's already had legendary runs on Flash, Green Lantern, JSA, & Superman; as well as some awesome runs on Aquaman, Justice League, Hawkman, Teen Titans, Booster Gold & Shazam.
Not to mention Infinite Crisis, Blackest Night, Forever Evil & ReBirth.
He's done it all.
Can we get him to send some notes to the animated guys because they just keep fuckin up and it aint funny no more.
>>84903343
I want more
It's not fair
>>84903154
So this is the power of thr Hypercrisis.
Not bad.
>>84903337
It was the 90's wrestling, the solution to booze/painkilles/drugs was essentially more drugs/booze/painkillers.
Its funny, SCSA was pretty damn clean...all he did was drink beer.
>this will delay his return to writing Aquaman
I'm glad for him, I really think he is the type of guy who can flip the trend the recent films have left because he is so in love with nearly every DC cape that he won't be happy until everyone else loves the characters too.
But damn I want him writing more.
>>84903343
>Johns Teen Titans
>awesome
whoa now son
Let's not say anything we're going to regret
>>84903352
We can send him a card, like /v/ did with Kojima
>>84903438
Abnett's Aquaman is currently pretty great right now at least.
>>84903437
>...all he did was drink beer.
He must have done that off-screen because you can't convince any decent amount of beer made it into his mouth when he was in the ring.
>>84903438
He said he was still doing the Aquaman arc with Abnett. I have a feeling he'll just outline the plot and Abnett will mostly do it on his own though.
>>84903476
He'll respond to stuff on Twitter too.
>>84903451
>>Let's not say anything we're going to regret
It's too late. They said Infinite Crisis was awesome.
It was always too late.
>>84902749
GL will debut by saving the entire JL and being hailed as the greatest hero ever.
>>84903522
Yeah but I like the card idea
>>84902749
>GL Corps movie
>Hal, John, Guy, Simon all star in a trench warfare-esque film against yellow lanterns
>End of movie, the four are given permission to return back to Earth for R&R
>See Justice League and the damage done while they've been away
>GLC v JL
>>84903479
I won't deny that it's good and I am enjoying it, but that teaser Johns left at the end of his run was something I wanted wrapped up
>>84903600
>Kylefags on suicide watch
as it should be
>>84903381
I'd love for him to write Wally again...or do another Hawkman run....or do a Shazam run.
>>84903451
It's the second most readable Teen Titans run after Wolfman/Perez
Not saying much but this is truth
>>84903451
He wrote a great Conner Kent
>>84903640
No one likes Kyle
>>84903614
Yeah? I wanted all the teasers from Flash Rebirth to be wrapped and instead we got the New 52.
>>84903704
>Zoom/Kadabra war literally never ever
it still hurts
>>84903337
>implying Hall hasn't been to rehab over a dozen times on both WCW's and McMahon's dollar
Also don't forget they had X-Pac to deal with to
>>84903688
Too bad he is fucking dead now.

THANK YOU BASED CEREAL LORD
>>84903814
THANK YOU BASED JOHNS
>>84902673
is this like a figure head position? does Johns have a background in business?
I'm being selfish I want him back writing comics.
>>84903875
>positive things
He will not have time to write comics
>negative things
They put in charge a "comicbook nerd" that had never read Wonder Woman until some months ago and is obsessed with his pet characters worse than Bendis.
And has a very limited knowledge of DC heroes.
>>84902673
It is the only sucessfull person in DC, so it is not surprising.
>>84903919
He has been credited with some business-y moves as CCO, like getting the rights cleared up so BATB could use Superman and Wonder Woman. This seems like it's still mostly a creative position though.
And I thought this was just a wacky new poster, not the secret celebratory announcement of a new king.
>>84903806
It's normal to confuse Booster Gold with Animal Man?
>>84904068
Thank you based Johns
>>84904074
That's obviously Green Lantern
>>84903814
THANK YOU BASED JOHNS
>>84903814
Thank you based cereal overlord
>>84904068
>Justice League ends with the them going to a diner & eating cereal
>>84903688
I'll agree that Lex being his other daddy makes sense, but Johns ruined Conner's fun personality and paved the road for Lobdell's run.
Johns writes some great shit, but sometimes he makes the most boneheaded decisions.
>>84902673
Can he fire Guggenheim?
>>84903654
Hawkman in JL when?
>>84904618
He could be he chooses not to because he hates Arrow now that they've abandoned his OTP
>>84904677
but he*
whoops
>>84903814
THANK YOU BASED JOHNS
>God Emperor Johns soon
Cereal comics incoming
>Johns becomes the Stan Lee of cameo for the DC movies
>>84904931
>Every DC movie has a shot of Johns eating cereal in the background.
You know what, even though there's some stuff that Johns has written that I'm not really fond of, I can't fault the guy's enthusiasm for his craft and trust that he'll at least have the best intentions about wanting to write good stories about superheroes.
All his recent problems in the DC before he stopped writing are more due to the fact of him over-promising versus what we actually get in a periodical release. Maybe being booted upstairs will actually give him an outlet for those ideas more broadly.
>>84904068
>Cereal for the Cereal Lord!
>>84902749
>implying Johns doesnt want this snydershit to crash and burn so it can be done properly
>>84902883
Now if only he save TV
>>84902673
I can now hope for a JSA movie. Pls make is happen, Geoff.
>>84902673
So, can I hope for Red Hood to appear in DCEU?
>>84903154
Didn't he start out writing fan letters to DC writers as a kid? I'm sure I've seen pics of his letters before.
>>84907297
The ones I've seen were sent by him as a young adult. Young Justice and Waid Flash.
>>84903699
I do
>>84902748
>>84902712
>>84902673
They're setting him up for the fall.
>>84902749Reynolds already recorded his lines, they don't need to do any more filming because they have a digital version of him left over from the solo movie
>>84902673
talk about failing your way upwards
>>84903209
>Johns
>edgy comics
u wot
>>84907297
He sent a letter to a book about how he thinks Lex Luthor should be Superboy's father.
Then he got a job at DC and turned that idea into a reality.
>>84907933
He's very much a hyperviolence guy (I remember seeing, I think, Rucka saying he must have played too much Mortal Kombat), but I wouldn't call his stories or themes edgy.
>>84903540
>Flash is cornered by Parademons
>A green light fucking destroys them
>"I'm gone for a year and the whole place goes to hell huh?"
>>84904618
He should torture Guggenheim until Guggie quits.
Like make him bring back Laurel and then force Kevin Smith on him.
Then when Guggie quits have the new guy make Felicity into a lesbian.
Everyone but the Ollicity fans and Guggie wins.
What are the chances that Geoff is too successful and jumps ship to be a big-time Hollywood blockbuster screenwriter?
>>84902749
Nope, but hes definitly working on a script.
And Kylefags will definitly join the Suicide Squad
>>84903108
He fucked with the guy who scans early unreleased comics for /co/ and this in turned angered /co/ he also tends to steal /co/ content.
>>84908996
They gave Laurel's actress a contract across all the shows right? You never know.
>>84903614
The whole seven seas thing? Abnett said he talked to Geoff about it when they announced the Rebirth stuff and that he's going to work with Geoff on writing it.
>>84903699
I am Irish Mexican and I don’t even like him.
>>84903343
Need I remind anybody?
>>84903814
>THANK YOU BASED JOHNS
>>84902673
I like the slight irony that Johns became a star when James Robinson quit JSA, because he was hoping to get out of comics and into movies.
Johns took over, became DC's star writer, and now he's a movie guy.
>>84910024
>no Booster Gold
>>84910024
>Flash TV show
uhhhh That's not exactly a unanimous positive anymore.
>>84910138
True, but S1 was instant classic material.
>>84902673
i am happy for him, but i will miss having him write something, For fuck sakes, i am reading his stuff since JSA this will feel so damn weird
>>84910340
Yeah in more than one way, this promotion feels like being kicked upstairs. I wonder how much influence over DC's other properties he'll actually have, or how much of that influence will result in noticeable change regarding DC's output.
WAIT WAIT WAIT
Does this mean he has creative control of the CWverse now? Could he say, save Arrow?
>>84910412
I honestly think that the whole "Rebirth" plan will actually be way longer now because he can control everything better
>>84910596
No, from a interview that he did we know that he loves Black Canary/Oliver and though that killing Dinah was bullshit
>>84910685
Whoever's working on Legends of Tomorrow this season had better pray that he likes how they handle Stargirl or he'll be gunning for them.
>>84910685
Oh, well. RIP Arrow then. Guess it ended with season 2.
>>84910685
Yeah this, Arrow is dead to him
>>84903814
THANK YOU BASED JOHNS
>>84903341
Yup.
A year from now, people will be blaming everything we don't like on him, now.
>>84903343
>Infinite Crisis
>>84910886
Infinite Crisis was okay, but it's completely overshadowed by both the two other "main" crises of the DCU (COIE and Final Crisis) as well as the series that immediately followed it (52).
>>84910886
>>84910960
I've still never read Infinite Crisis, just 52 and the SCW issue spotlighting Superboy Prime.
>>84911000
Yeah that's its biggest problem, you really don't miss anything by skipping it and reading other (better) comics written around the same time that deal with its fallout.
DC immediately following Infinite Crisis had a lot of good shit though, a lot of it written by Johns even.
>>84910960
>>84911000
It's good, but to me it feels like the climax to the events that had been building rather than a story in it's own, though it has the structure necessary- build up, climax, resolution.
>>84902673
This he has enough pull to fire shit editorial?
>>84903654
Johns on Wally would be amazing. Outside of Waid and Ostrander Johns is the only one who can do him justice.
>>84903814
THANK YOU BASED JOHNS
>>84904124
What's in the lemonade?
>>84908997
0, the guy is pretty dumb in general
>>84910024
>CW flash

>Forever Evil

>blackest night
Literally when johns went to shit
also, liking infinite crisis is almost secret invasion tier.
>>84912818Lemons.
>>84913049
Why do you feel that way Anon
>>84913049
>secret invasion tier
But it made Dark Reign possible, the best Marvel era.
>>84904655
Never. Normies' only exposure to him has been in JLU and Injustice, one in which he's a pathetic wife-beater, and in the other he's a sniveling cuckold.
>>84908103
Yeah. That can lead to some weird disconnect at times, like in JSA where an evil speedster is running through innocent women and children and a couple of pages later people are chatting about cute costumes and inspiring people.
Whatever his faults are, I think it's really cool that an everyday fanboy could take himself this far. I hope his story motivates more people to try to get into the industry.
>>84902673
The good-
He genuinely GETS & LIKES the DCU in a very traditional way. When he isn't tryharding his stuff is great so hopefully he can damage control the Snyder stuff.
The Bad-
He's still a company man & he'll only go so far for character integrity before he tells Diane Nelson 'yes Ma'am' to a really inane idea from high above. Also his favorites Cyborg, Jaime Blue Beetle, & fucking Stargirl will probably get obnoxiously pushed as a new DC Trinity.
The Ugly-
The Shazam movie will probably be based on his reboot with Gary Frank. God help us all....
>>84915433
>Implying DC would let there be a new Trinity.
They couldn't make it happen if they wanted to, so they won't even try.
