Well, I think Cheetah is great as a Frenemy to Diana. Like she villainous but it's more of a rivalry and Cheetah doesn't want to be reformed.

This would be a good moment to reintroduce a lot of her old villain characters.

Most of her Nazi villains can easily be explained away because fucking half are princesses and royalty from random countires.

Baroness Von Gunther is the only villain I can see as being explicitly Nazi. And she can be descended from Hitler or something and be in the search for magic and alien artifacts that her grandaddy left her
Think of her as a Spear of Longinus lady.

Queen Cleo is a perfect enemy for Aquaman and Wonder Woman (the former also needs other villains).

Dr. Cyber is a bond type terrorist villain. She can have many others under her command including Dr. Poison, Blue Snowman, etc.

Giganta's gorilla origin needs to be changed. I suggest that a frost Giant actually possesses her so she can be giant and have weather powers to sweeten the deal.

Giganta's done pretty well with everyone ignoring the gorilla part of her origin.

I think the problem with Nazi magical artifacts and aliens is that it's pretty old hat by now. Having her be a time traveller could make for some fun characterization. Maybe she's the source of Nazi supertech, sending modern technology to the past. Maybe she's completely disillusioned with Hitler, seeing what happens in the end, and has abandoned her mission so that she might build a new Reich free of the meddling, short-sightedness, and infighting that doomed the last one. Maybe she's the last true believer, a refugee caught between a future that despises her and a past she knows will die.

Yeah, most writers don't mention Giganta's gorilla background if they bother bringing up her origin.

I didn't mean a direct 1:1 comparison with Superman villains, I meant more that Ares works best as her ultimate arch-nemesis. Like Luthor and Joker to Superman and Batman, Ares is pointedly and diametrically opposed to everything Wonder Woman stands for. She's peace, he's war. She's healing, he's slaughter. She's love, he's hate. And of course, she's fundamentally feminine, he's fundamentally masculine. Thematically they're completely opposed, which is what makes a great arch-villain.

And on top of that, he's a huge powerful Olympian god, so she can beat the shit out him in a dramatic issue-long fight if she has to. In terms of Superman villains, he's almost like Luthor and Darkseid rolled into one.
