TCW had god damn decapitation, immolation, asphyxiation, impaling, and the bloody remains of a shark dude's head floating past the camera, all on screen.

And that's just one show. Hell, one of the first things we saw about the Samurai Jack reboot was him literally covered in blood, they didn't have that in the fucking original.
