I certainly am, first one was a big part of my childhood and I never played the second.

If all the DLC comes with the first one then I'll go for it. I didn't really like the second, it glitchy and felt unfinished.

Short reaction: Yes.

Long reaction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2t4MBhGAg8

Now we need MUA3 and XML3 one day.
>>
>>84832600
I don't think its a meme. Most people just dislike 2 for some reason.
>>
>>84832480
MUA 2 had fantastic graphics and costume designs, but yeah it was overall way watered down and the roster was weak sauce in comparison
>>
>>84832723
It's because it was a watered down, simplified version of MUA1. It looked nicer but that was about it. Many characters felt the same in terms of powersets. Buffs couldn't be stacked as effectively. While trying to make Team Specials a big deal they actually made team play worse because it was easier to just tank one character then use a Special to get out of danger.
>>
I'm excited. I had the first as a kid, but admittedly I didn't really get into comics until they went mainstream with the movies. It'll be a lot more fun now that I actually know all the characters.

Even if I wasn't super Marvel familiar back then, it was still fun hearing my friend narrating the story of Venom leading his team of heroes to Atlantis.
>>
How could they downgrade the Spidey design so much.
>>
>>84838243
I was also annoyed because they kept pulling characters out of my roster because they were plot important.
Also, you couldn't use Hercules and that sucked.
>>
Will it be available at Steam? Where can i buy it digital?
>>
Huh, I still have this for 360, but I bought a PS4 recently. Maybe I'll pick them up.
I remember loving The Mandarin level, and Ghost rider was great.
>>
Where can you buy it? I don't see it listed on steam.
>>
I can't wait to see people do mods on the PC.
>>
>>84838309
Both valid points. B-but Civil War now you can't use Mr. Fantastic. Thing is gone. No Iron Fist even though he's the only healer.

You remember MUA1 with boosts? You could have Strange healing, Stark cutting energy use, Thor Boosting powers 3+ tiers, and Spider-man tanking using WebShield taking no Damage.
>>
If both have all the DLC char's i'll consider it.

I lost the MUA1 DLC people during the rights loss because i had purged them for space at one point, still kept the mua2 people.

I want to play Cyc again.
>>
>>84838243
Also, they dropped their story halfway.
>>
>>84838591
I'm pretty shit at the game, so most of my complaints were more about characters. Like how you couldn't use Cable or Bishop.
And yeah, the first game had some great moments. I loved that you could do Fastball Specials with heavy/stabby characters, or how even though I was fucking Thor I could pick up a pipe and wail on thugs.
>>
>>84838690
they drop it because the made up an actual badguy eveyroen needed to work toegether to beat born fo their infighting.

I loved Ultimate Alliance 2. I thought the first game wasn't bad but I didn't enjoy it as much for whatever reason. The biggest problem with 2 was the bugs like the infamous talent reset bug every time you went into the menu or loaded the game up and the fact that they jew'd everyone out of juggernaut DLC codes. And there wasn't a lot of unique team special moves. Other than that I loved it and the hardest difficulties were fun as shit.

>>
>>84832581
>Why do people dislike 2 so much?

I can't speak for everybody else, but for me, I thought the Civil War storyline was insipid (not a fan of the comic book version of Civil War, either). The first MUA tapped into the wide-eyed wonder I had when I first started reading Marvel's superhero comics as a kid. MUA2, on the other hand, featured some of my least favorite aspects of the recent Marvel output.

I do think the gameplay for MUA2 was significantly tighter (the combination attacks are much, much better executed) and the level design was at least as good as that seen in the original.

I do agree with many of the anons in this thread, though, that the X-Men Legends games were relatively better given the other games they had to go up against during their era.

>>
>>84853922
The camera angle is disorienting and fails at the basic functions of a camera: showing you what's going on and what you need to see

The combat is stiff and placid. Even when there are real threats to your survival that manifests as losing chunks of health and not as a visual threat

The graphics were sub-par even back when they released

It's incredibly repetitive and most characters are just a mix-and-match of powers and passives from other characters

Just get MUA1 on PC and head over to Marvel Mods to get all the DLC characters and more for free.

You can download Hank Pym with shrinking, growing, or both shrinking and growing in one moveset, Monica Rambeau, tons of DC characters, Iron Fist, several villains from the game to play as like Mysterio, tons of alt costumes like Anti-Venom, MCU outfits, Ben Reilly Spider-Man, etc. High quality models from Marvel Heroes to replace both playable characters and NPCs, etc.

And they keep coming out with shit, they don't stop.
>>
>>84853989
So how would you fix these supposed problems? How do you make a team-based action-rpg-brawler and not use a similar camera and similar combat? Have you ever played similar games? They all basically work like this. I will agree that the co-op camera could use some work and not require everyone to stay on one screen.

As for the powers, yeah there's overlap. But that's an extension of the source material where every other hero is a flying brick. It's either everyone has a few similar powers out of a large pool (so you customize them to your preference) or everybody only has 4 powers that don't represent the extent of their capabilities. The important thing is that the characters' powersets feel appropriate. Shitty complaint.

Sub-par graphics? It was a cross-gen game released in 2006. Doesn't make it objectively terrible.

I really don't know what you expected but you clearly went in with the wrong mindset. That's a problem with you, not a problem with the game. I've never held the game up as some all-time champion of vidya but it accomplishes what it sets out to.
>>
>>84854337
>So how would you fix these supposed problems?
Total square 1 overhaul. Different engine, different mechanics, different everything.

>the game being a total mess is a failure of your expectations and not of the game
Please. It was a barely-passable budget game when it released and it's aged terribly. Take off the nostalgia goggles.
>>
>>84854395
>Total square 1 overhaul. Different engine, different mechanics, different everything.

That's not explaining how would you actually DO things differently. How do you create a team-based action-rpg brawler without using a top-down camera and beat-em-up combat?

You basically just want an entirely different game. Which is fine, but you can't hold it against this one and act like it's a legitimate criticism.

>hurr durr nostalgia goggles

Way to prove you have no argument.
>>
>>84854507
>That's not explaining how would you actually DO things differently. >How do you create a team-based action-rpg brawler without using a top-down camera and beat-em-up combat?
I would not describe MUA as beat-em-up combat. It's far closer to a MOBA than a beat-em-up.

Camera should be more heavily isometric, the only reason the camera in MUA HAD to be top-down was because of the way they built the environments, which is ass-backwards. The controls themselves are alright but combat needs to have impact; the game's sound and visual effects are lazy and interact poorly, mainly as a result of being built on the X-Men Legends engine.

Heroes need more variation than just "this is a beam hero! this is a punch hero!" Actually bother to give them unique abilities and differing playstyles. Make Iron Man have high burst but have to deal with overheating, give Spider-Man low health but a powerful capacity for evasion, allow Cap to block incoming damage for his teammates, etc.

I didn't just want another game, I wanted a better game. I love brawlers. I love Marvel. I love what this game purports to be. It is extremely low-quality in its execution.
>>
>>84854693
>Spider-Man
>low health

u wot m8
>>
>>84854693
See, it sounds like you haven't really played it.

Half the point of having all the costumes and powers is that it allows you to spec the characters differently. Take Iron Man for instance. You can load him up with projectile damage powers, or you can give him a costume and powers that turn him into a high-speed close-range fighter. This is more representative of the comics than forcing the characters into individual boxes just so there's no overlap. Doesn't sound fun to me.

And I don't understand the MOBA combat comparison. In MOBAs you click and hold a primary attack while using special powers on a cool down. That's more like Marvel Heroes. MUA requires constant interaction, an energy meter instead of cooldowns, and has varying enemy types that require you to change your strategy on the fly.

Of course the game can be improved but that doesn't make it terrible, especially when there's still nothing better to compare it to.
>>
>>84855063
Oh and I want to reiterate, I don't think this game is perfect at all. The worst aspect IMO is the ordinary "boss fights" because they're just usually just tanks that are immune to 90% of your abilities. Can't combo em, can't disable em, can't use status effects. They just have a big health bar and do a lot of damage. So you use projectile heroes and shoot them til they go down. Not very satisfying.
>>
>>84855063
>See, it sounds like you haven't really played it.
I played about halfway through solo when it came out and then I played all the way through in 4-player arcade mode with Deadpool's ultimate costume for his broken regen and spin2win.

>Half the point of having all the costumes and powers is that it allows you to spec the characters differently
99% of specs fell into a few broad categories and, as I said, actual playstyles didn't have much variety regardless of build.

>I don't understand the MOBA comparison
Overhead camera, stilted movement, units that don't seem to directly interact, a focus on power activation, and in general the gameplay and camera work to make the game feel like a custom RTS map instead of a brawler.

>Of course the game can be improved but that doesn't make it terrible
No, it being terrible makes it terrible.
>there's still nothing better to compare it to

Those are vague comparisons at best and have little to do with the actual gameplay of MOBAs. I mean custom RTS maps? The levels are nothin like RTS maps. Power activation is completely different and can be eschewed entirely if you actually wanted to do that for some reason.

No offense but you sound like you really don't know what you're talking about.

Jesus, that's ugly.

And no DLC. Maybe when the bundle is less than $10

this is MUA2? Shit I remembered it looking better.

No its 1

I think he meant that as them being cheap, more than them being greedy
>>
So who do we moan at on twitter to get DLC?
>>
they really just ported it?
And what
added controller support to pc?
>>
>>84853732
No all of them.

Thor, Venom, Phoenix, Green Goblin, Spidey and Cap all had pretty good alts.

DLC is in 2, just not in 1.

To everyone in this thread, the game isn't worth purchasing at this current moment. Games controls are utterly broken and the game lacks any rebinding feature for controllers. Also no dlc for the first game which is a giant slap in the face. Demonstrate with your wallets to the publishers this behavior is unacceptable and pirate this fucking game. Already trying to get a refund

>they make a MUA3
>all default costumes are based on movies
>all alternate costumes are paid DLC
>fan favorite costumes end up as pre-order DLC that's never released later for everyone

>You could have Strange healing

How? The only way I remember you could heal was using one of the Silver Surfer's powers and to get him you had to get gold on every training mission.

I like the idea of the Fold but I haven't played MUA2 since I platinumed it when it and the DLC was new back on PS3. So no idea what the execution was like. I remember liking playing as Nanite Nick though, dumb as that was.

The new steam release of MUA1 has different file types. Mods for the old PC release won't work with this.
>>

Wasn't MUA1 released back when most PS360 games were ports of PS2/OG Xbox games?
>>
Has anyone else tried doing single character runs in MUA1? I love shitting on everything with Cap and Cap alone.

>>84851395
It didn't go too in depth into the X-Men/Mutant side of things. But considering that already had two full games for just that leading up to it I can understand it.

I like the way you think
>>

All the tag team powers were just one of four moves. It was shooting beams at each other, running together, jumping together, or one picking up a rock and the other doing something to it before it was thrown.

Also message them with what you want fixed and what would make you buy it. Hopefully they'll be able to patch the issues out and make the games worth buying.

>59 fucking dollars
No way i'm buying this out of a sale
