Webcomic artist here. Can't blame him. I've found you really need to achieve a balance between updates and porn production. They compliment each other really, even if you never cross the streams and make porn of the webcomic.

In a previous post he talks about how he'd like to work with other peoples. I wonder if he could get another artist to work on Poppy while he take care of the story and just make rough sketches of pages for the composition. The other person takes care of the inking/coloring. And I bet that way he could go back to three pages a week like the good old time.

Lets not kid ourselves here. Poppy isn't that good.

Well yeah that's definitely disappointing. It doesn't help that the story is so slow-paced. It would be the perfect comic to read a book of instead of the current webcomic format. Or having a chapter released instead of the slow drip released of pages.

Most story-based webcomics feel like they move at a glacial pace unless they can update 3 or more times a week. Poppy's pacing is balanced for an archival read and it's actually really consistent in that regard.

I want him to stop making Poppy. Not permanently, not for a dinky-ass three months to slack off drawing bullshit without diligence, just long enough that he can get his faggotry out of his system and finally git gud at what he does. I'm kind of upset that he's been trudging along this path of failure without much regard for the webcomic he's creating anymore, just continuously getting slower and slower while mistakes pile on and he gets saltier.

I think Morbi bit off way more than he could chew when it came to Poppy, right from the beginning. He really should have started with a shorter comic he could finish within a couple of years to build up experience and connections before moving onto a big decade-long project.

Two was already pushing it. Gonna go ahead and remove this webcomic from my rotation, maybe check it out once every six months to see all 10 new pages in their "glory."

Why not just drop it altogether and come back when he's ready? He doesn't even want to keep going, we barely care.

Honestly it doesn't seem like a huge loss. Like many webcomics Poppy seems to have gotten so caught up in "world-building" it forgot to actually advance the plot. The actual updates were ancillary to the lore tumblr posts.

Right now, he is obligated by the patreon he set up to produce 24 pieces of art for his supporters. 14 unique "quick digital sketches", 8 unique inked images, and 2 full color unique images. Since he's getting paid $360 dollars per page of the comic, it's pretty easy to see why he's cut back. He kinda fucked himself with his funding goal though. Pic related.

I should probably mention, he's obligated to produce 24 every month he produces at least 1 page. So at 2 updates a week, that's 32 pieces of art every month. Then again, he was pulling in nearly 3K at that rate. He just dropped his income down to $1,440 a month. I imagine he must really be getting burnt out if he's willing to cut his income that drastically.
