I don't even hate Johns and Rebirth but you can't completely absolve Hal for everything he did during Emerald Twilight.

Sure, fear bug/Sinestro can be responsible for everything after Hal leaves the Central Power Battery as Parallax.

Except it was still Hal stealing the rings from GLs trying to stop him from reaching Oa: dude then leaves them for dead, no less.
