No, child development-wise, dolls/stuffed animals are good. It's sad that our society doesn't let boys play with dolls, but it helps a lot with nurturing and working out strong emotions. Maybe the latter has an effect with adults with stuffed toys?

This is Eduardo. My girlfriend bought him for me before she left to study in Germany so I'd have something to cuddle when she wasn't around. He's a lot fluffier than he looks. He was better than my pillows even, sometimes all I needed to get to sleep was to rest my head down on him.

Sometimes I'd call her on Skype, and we'd each hug our teddies, and pretend that we were hugging each other. That was my favourite part about being so far away. That the intimacy and affection still found a way to be there.

Long distance was hard. In the end neither of us could take it. The problems kept mounting up. She cheated on me and I cheated on her. It was awful, we just totally broke down and I in particular lost a lot of friends over it.

But Eduardo reminds me of when everything was simpler, and all you needed to show you loved someone was wrapping your arms around them.

I haven't really felt a genuine emotional connection with another human being since all that happened. I'm scared of hurting people, and I'm scared of being hurt.

But Eduardo is always here when I need him

Cuddling/hugging pillows are a thing, aren't they?

In my part of the world, I've had them since I was a kid and I always sleep with them. I can sleep without them but it wouldn't be comfortable. The posture is just too comfy.
>>
>>84814009
Some females collect them well into their 20s.
>>
>>84818022
Extroverts feel energized when interacting with other people. It has nothing to do with having plushies as stand-ins for real people. It wouldn't be the same for them.
>>
>>84814009
Anon there are adults who still buy and use coloring books. This is nothing compared to that
>>
>>84821165
That's more of a hipster trend, isn't it? But in the first place, I have nothing against coloring because that shit can be relaxing. Maybe it's the whole trend that bugs you.
>>
>>84821132
>Extroverts feel energized when interacting with other people

I feel the opposite. It drains me. If I spend the day with lots of people I need a few days alone after that.
>>
>>84821204
I know a guy who made coloring book specifically for adults. It has those trippy LSD induced mandala patterns. Which he actually made when he was high.
>>
>>84821243
Double edged, isn't it? Makes you anxious after being alone for too long, then you need to spend time with friends, too much and you need to be with yourself for a few days.
>>
>>84821243
Then you're not an extrovert but probably an introvert. I feel the same way.

Extroverts feel energized with other people. Introverts can interact fine but it drains them.
>>
>>84821261
Yeah I don't get why adults aren't supposed to color. Sounds especially strange on a cartoons and comics board.
>>
>>84821495
Why color when you can draw?
>>
>>84821261
Well I'm glad your friend made something out of it

>>84821761
Why can't you color just because you can draw?
>>
>>84820861
I'm pretty sure /trash/ has lewd plushie threads from time to time if you wanted to hear from people who do fuck their toys. Not my cup of tea personally, because again, I don't want my collection getting gross and less huggable. But if you want their insight I'm sure they'll be happy to share.
>>
>>84821761
Coloring is comparatively much, much easier, but still fun.

When the average person tries to draw it looks like an abortion from deviantArt. So most adults never even try.
>>
>>84821828
I produce pornography, both written and drawn.

Sometimes I need to produce stuff from a female perspective. Of course I can just improvise and make presumptions about what they might be feeling or thinking or doing when they're alone. But there's always a nagging feeling that I'm off base. I'm quite certain about what male sexuality is like, and while I can use that to interpolate female sexuality, there's always that gap that I can never be sure about.

So I like to get thoughts from females on occasion, about certain things, even if it's just anonymously and I have no idea who they are. It's not really so much about plushies.
>>
>>84820242

I'm a 20 year old man. I've been collecting stuffed animals for most of my life. I bought my last one when I was 17. A few months afterwards, I realized I no longer wanted to cuddle it, or any stuffed animal. I put them all on my shelf instead.

I actually miss the feeling I got when cuddling them more than I ever dreaded the embarrassment of people knowing I had them.
>>
>>84814009
funny thought. When I was younger I used to be so afraid of growing up because that meant that I wouldn't be able to browse the toy aisle at departmental stores or get toys for birthdays or christmases. It used to be a pretty big fear of mine because I was so scared of growing up and being a weird 20 year old who still wanted toys.

Thankfully that's no longer the case, but it's funny to think about how aware I was at the age of like 9.
