The writers did say that we'd get to see more of the Galra Empire now that the characters have been established, I'm expecting that to be true for Earth as well. And it's been fleshed out just enough, plus the fact that they were consciously hiding the truth about the Kerberos expedition and doing experiments on Shiro after he returned, that I expect there to be more to the Garrison than it just being a bit of early worldbuilding.

Completely ignorant of this, Hunk tracks down Shay because he's lonely, gets pregnant.

During the entire episode people are freaking out over how to deal with this, all the while Hunk grows bigger and bigger very quickly.

The episode ends with Hunk passing a fuckton of gas. Turns out Balmerans spawn as microscopic spores which are dispersed into the atmosphere via flatulence where they grow and feed off of the Balmera's energy.

It'll proably be a sniper rifle for precision long-distance combat. Really though I don't think Lance will end up with the Red Lion as the endgame. Everything about his character arc is shaping up to him being meant to stay with the Blue Lion in the long run and for it to turn out that his character trait is being able to adapt to situations (both a very leggy/supporting and watery trait to have). Remember how it rejected Keith at the beginning and only responded to Lance despite supposedly being able to accept everyone.

For Shiro it'd definitely be pretty weird, but not insurmountable. Sendak went through similar procedures as Haggar so they could bond over that. And yeah he did beat the crap out of Shiro and keep him and Lance hostage, but it was for the sake of the Galra Empire, and they haven't haven't exactly been trying to get their top general out of Team Voltron's hands during the however-long period in between the end of episode 5 and episode 9. That's what they said about the original Shirogane(s). Really the thing that makes me more assured about his survival is that he's got too many unresolved plot threads, plus the talk about his arm having more secrets.
They're decent and experienced writers, they should know by now that character death is not a plot element to be used lightly except on characters who were purposefully set up to be disposable, or proper ones who've exhausted their arcs. Shiro's too fleshed out to be the former, and doesn't seem to be close to the latter.
