They weren't specifically Countdown, DC just comissioned a bunch of covers from Sook for a bunch of reprints, and most of them happened to be Kirby/Countdown themed.

There's also one for Rogues/Flash for that short ongoing with Bart, two issues of Atom reprints for the Search for Ray Palmer and one for Eclipso cause Didio has a boner for him or something

I thought the idea of using some random guy's covers for Kirby's reprint collections (traditionally hardcovers, but hell, even for tpbs) would be weird. The only exception would be a variant cover for an omnibus collection.
