One Month /co/. One month until every thread is bombarded with webms from this horrible movie. Are you ready? I hope you're ready. Fuck Steven Universe, here's a webm of a sentient douche fingering a rat's asshole. How about a bagel lavash and hotdog pissing on a taco and bun.

And don't think it's going to stop after a week or two. Oh no. We're in this for the long haul. A year or two in the future and people will still be posting food eating eachother out.

So I ask you again /co/.

Are you ready?

Y'know, it makes me really worry about how the Wonder Woman movie's gonna turn out.
That's still being made, right?

Like, the whole idea of "GRRRRL Power" is such a shallow and shitty gimmick.
And Diana is such a big target for falling into that, but she's got so much more to her.
Like, I was talking about it with my mom (50 year old woman so of course she loves bridesmaids and wants to see the new Ghostbusters), and I was explaining the balance between Bats, Supes and Wondy.
She responded saying how she didn't realize she's supposed to be put on the same level as those two. She just knew her as that goofy old show with the amazon and the lasso that made people tell the truth.
Is it possible that we'll get a movie that actually captures how Wonder Woman really acts, or are we doomed to just "HEY, IT'S A SUPERHERO WHO'S A WOMAN! 10/10!"?
>>
>>84581242
this movie is what happens when men are allowed to make a movie.

disgusting.
>>
>>84582678

Well the big wildcard I always bring up is Fury Road. Fury Road is about women. The main character is a woman (I honestly consider Max to be a co-star here). The villain is a villain because of what he does to women. The plot is about bringing women to safety. And in the end, the best action sequence of the movie is a bunch of old women kicking ass.

And you know what? Everyone loved it. Because it was a well made well written movie.

And yet when everyone talks shit about Ghostbusters, feminists are like "HAHA EAT SHIT FUCCBOIS JUST BECAUSE YOU HATE WOMEN DOESN'T MEAN ITS BAD."

But that's not how it works.

People hate this movie because it's an unfunny unfaithful unfeeling cash grab of a beloved film from the eighties. This is no better than the fucking Robocop remake that 5 people saw.

That's it, 50 people at best out of millions who loved the movie, and because of that we have to deal with everyone and their mother bringing up some MRA boycott that never happened.
>>
>>84582927
Point being, there exists a vocal minority of movie goers who will not watch a movie if it stars, mentions, or takes a sidelong glance at women. Fuck, that's like the entire basis of all the Ghostbusters hate.
>>
>>84583016

I think the real backlash against ghostbusters is that it just looks terrible.

Notice the real "I am not seeing this fucking movie" posting started when the first trailer came out.

The basis of the hate, is that not only is it yet another beloved classic of years gone by being molested for profit, it's the sheer laziness and premeditated approach of "lets just flip the gender and make "I'm a woman" jokes" that has so oblivously been applied. It's calous, shallow, agenda driven shitness made ever more clear by the vociforous and ogerwhelming response. The fact it's a feminist statement is all it has going for it so they are banging bin lids to make sure everyone hears about it and sees it, because, you don't want to be a woman hater do you, anon?

It's vacuous shit.

>Fury Road is about women. The main character is a woman

No. The only characters with any sort of development or arc are Max and Nux. The girl squad, including Furiosa, are the supporting cast, existing to kickstart the plot and provide opportunities for the first two to develop.

>The villain is a villain because of what he does to women.

Yeah, sure, being a brutal warlord with god complex who commands a troop of of brainwashed psychopaths robbing and eslaving people and keeps unwashed masses groveling before him through holding all the technology (all of which is revealed before anything to do with women) totally does not make Joe a villain!

>The plot is about bringing women to safety.

No. That safety did not even exist. The plot is about Max getting over his trauma and gaining resolve to stand up against villainy, with a sub-plot of Nux going through a similar experiece, except replace trauma with brainwashing.

>And you know what? Everyone loved it. Because it was a well made well written movie.

Reminder that this movie has:

>An extended food orgy with all sorts of depravity and awkward dialogue
>A mexican rapist stereotype named El Guaco who leads the mexican food aisle. The aisle is presented as a Tijuana slum
>A Native American bottle of firewater
>A twinkie named twink who is a gay stereotype
>A french cheese who has an entire scene shouting "OH NO, THEY ARE EATING MY DICK!"
>A Box of Uncle Ben's rice who talks like a magical Negro
>A woman named "Camille Toe" who's entire point is to make jokes about women having vaginas
>A Jewish Bagel and a Middle Eastern Lavash who end of being gay for eachother.
>The Lavash murders a rabbi in the films climax
>Speaking of which, the climax is the food getting everyone high on Heroin. Which somehow allows the people to perceive them as alive. Which somehow allows the food to kill them.

No joke. A super early, unfinished version of the movie was screened a while back at SXSW (Like unfinished as in it was basically an animatic version). Variety gave it a good review.

>All of which suggests, with “Sausage Party” following “This Is the End” (which he also co-wrote with Goldberg), that Seth Rogen may be the most subversively sincere religious allegorist working in movies today. Better still, he can be pretty damn funny while spiking freewheeling zaniness with food for thought.

Full review: http://variety.com/2016/film/festivals/sausage-party-review-sxsw-1201730120/c

Here's some stuff that Rogen has said on Howard Stern about it regarding the religious stuff and Sacha Baron Cohen's thoughts on the movie.

>“Its subject matter inherently has to do with religion, so conceptually its somewhat R-rated.”

>“Sausage Party appalled him [Sacha Baron Cohen] in some ways. We brought him to a screening where we watched the hand drawn version of the movie and he could not believe it — ‘that is the single craziest fucking thing I’ve seen in my whole life’ He said, ‘Just know you’ve gotten successful enough to make the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.'”

Two take out one car then get run over
Rictus tosses one off the rig

One gets their jugular cut with a hedge clipper. Women and men were treated as equals in that movie. Max, Joe and the warboys kicked ass and most of the women did too

This movie is a double edged sword. If it's successful, we get more adult animated movies. Except they'd most likely and try to copy Sausage Party's gross out humor. If it fails, we don't get any more adult animated movies for a long time
>>
>>84584614

which is the second option.

Here's more. A positive and spoiler filled review from The Hollywood Reporter that is summed up with...
>Foodstuffs, metaphysics and a heap of raunchy action add up to something surprisingly hilarious.

Source: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/sausage-party-sxsw-review-875703

There's also a Cartoon Brew article that's filled with audience reactions in embedded Tweets.

>SAUSAGE PARTY is an existential, vulgar comedy about food wanting to screw ferociously. I liked it. And that scares me. #SXSW

>I am still tearing up thinking of SAUSAGE PARTY gags. The PRIVATE RYAN bit might be my favorite scene of the year right now #sxsw

>Can't say Sausage Party was the best film of #SXSW, but it was definitely the most fun I've had in a screening at the fest.

>Just saw a work in progress of the film "Sausage Party" and all I can say is, it was comedically...interesting. Very funny! #sethrogen #SXSW

>Well, there has never been an animated movie anything like SAUSAGE PARTY. Starts feeling one-joke, ends in a brilliant, uh, climax. #SXSW

>If Deadpool changed the R-rated superhero game, Sausage Party changes the R-rated animated-movie game #sxsw

>Sausage Party was AMAZING. Never heard an audience laugh so hard. Seth Rogen & other crew/cast doing Q&A now. #SXSW

>SAUSAGE PARTY is incredibly funny, filthy, insane, ambitious and it blew the roof off #SXSW

>It took 17 years but SAUSAGE PARTY is finally the R-rated smart and crazy animated comedy we've wanted since the SOUTH PARK movie. #SXSW

>SAUSAGE PARTY: TOY STORY by way of R. Crumb. Example of the anthropomorphized humor: "God hates figs." #SXSW

>Oh my god. @sausage_party was the most outrageous, hilarious, ridiculous, insane, dirty, crazy movie ever. #SXSW @Sethrogen #dead

I actually saw the whole movie in theaters.

SPOILERS:

It greatly differs from the script, the Orgy is actually put in the end, and The Douche instead of fingering Rat's instead sucks the juices out of other products. There's also some shitty ending where they all discover they're a cartoon at the very end, but I think they'll take that out considering nobody in the focus group thought it was that clever.

Also, that Orgy in the script is FAR bigger in the movie. The whole fucking theater was losing their minds, it got insane.

>>
>>84585192
Yes, it's the grand finale of the whole film. At first I thought it was just going to be between the Sausages and the Buns, but then everybody gets involved. Firewater, Twink The Twinkie, and a box of Gritz are pretty high and start ass fucking each other. A group of lettuce of whatever are fingering a block of moldy cheese and start smelling their fingers. A piece of gum in a wheelchair starts getting his cock stroked by some wine-bottles. Frank is used as a Strap-On and plundered through the Bun, Bagel, and starts sucking the Lavash's dick. The Bagels eats the Lavash's ass.

I could go on, but I feel like I've already said too much.

I got the tickets through a friend who received the invitation through Fandango, saw the movie along with other friends in a pre-screening event at Cinemark.

They needed people ages 17-39, and had us all write down on these forms of what we thought of the movie. I was randomly chosen along with my friend to be apart of the focus group at at the end, and we all talked about it with some asshole in purple loafers. They had cameras and microphones all over the theater so they could record our reactions.

The didn't want ANY coverage of the film, and they made it pretty clear on the wavier they had us sign when we were in line.
>>
>>84584173
saw a youtube review claiming this had happened.

can't really blame the movie personally. I think Bill just likes playing characters that die in movies. Remember in that zombie flick when he died (zombieland)? Kind of like how supposedly Han Solo was supposed to perma-die when frozen but Lucas decided that wasn't kid-safe.

Fair enough. I don't particularly mind since I've dug the fuck out of Space Jam since I was a kid, it just seems a bit weird to keep posting them alongside comments that are in no way related in a thread for a Seth Rogen movie about sentient food products.

Like, I've been playing pic related recently because I've just started emulating PS1 games to go on a bit of a nostalgia trip, but I don't feel compelled to spam screenshots in an unrelated thread where I'm not even discussing it.

I've never been a big fan of Rogen's stuff. The only movie he's done that sticks out in my mind as something I really, REALLY liked was This Is The End, because they managed to do a really cool apocalyptic rapture plot with them all just being themselves and ripping the shit out of each other while trying to figure out how to survive and figure out what the fuck was going on.

It was like this cool supernatural horror wrapped around Rogen's predilection for dick jokes and pot, and that was enough to make it feel a bit more interesting on the whole.

It's pretty awesome getting to play through it again. My emulator started acting like a royal prick last night though. In Bruges was like a bad mix of Tarantino and Neil Jordan; the plot was scarce and the characters were ridiculous.

Midnight in Paris: Allen has better movies, much btter. The premise was solid but it becomes tedious; Cotillard was fine, thanks.

Well, that's your opinion, man. I respect it. I saw the movie, this is what happens

Bill Murray appears on a news segment as a "professional debunker" but all that happens is the news caster asks "did they really catch a gost?" to which he responds "NO LOL" rather than making an actual argument against them or seeming at all like a professional." Then after they catch the ghost at the music concert he just shows up at their HQ to say "ur frauds lol" to which Kristin Wiig responds with "o ya? heres a ghost!!!" and she releases it and it throws him out the window and he fucking dies. The police show up and its treated like a gag that they got this man killed, and I guess the police already believed in ghosts because they didn't even talk to the women, let alone treat them like suspects. The police scene lasts a whole 5 seconds anyway because its just a segue into "the evil government" plot.

In what way is Wright pretentious? Is this something you say because his movies are popular but not TOO popular? Even if I were to admit Scott Pilgrim was a bit pretentious, that's more thanks to the source material then the director.
The preachiest of his movies was At World's End and that's by far the worst of the three. Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are fun movies with wonderful scene transition and memorable jokes.

This. A movie like this succeeding does not signal the beginning of a Renaissance for the kind of mature animated films that American animation fans have been looking for for ages.

I still feel that the best way for American animated features for mature audiences to flourish is for a major film studio to take a risk by animating a PG-13 blockbuster-style action-thriller picture and launch it in the summer alongside live-action features from other studios. They need to take baby steps rather than drive the fucking car into a brick wall like what Sausage party is doing.

I will never in my life understand this. To me James Rolfe has always been an irrelevant dude that made a living being a cringe factory just because he had the good fortune to jump on the train early. He's completely irrelevant to normal society. He's got people that actually have careers that your mother would know down his throat for doing what honestly was the most adult thing possible in the situation. "You know im pretty sure this new thing is going to make me mad. I'm not going to do a thing that I know will make me mad." That's all the guy fucking said. I mean, Furiosa also has an arc: going from the grudging servant of Immortan Joe to a rebel taking his concubines to freedom in a dimly-remembered home she had long given up hope of seeing, realizing that there truly is nothing to go back to, and then turning around to go dethrone the false king and establish a NEW place like the home she lost.

You know you can acknowledge that there were some feminist themes and important female characters without it making the male characters worthless, right?
>>
>>84588540
The police are superseded by higher governmental authorities, essentially paranormal investigators, who make their living covering up shit like that (but who also are reasonable people and don't really want a bunch of successful ghost-fighting scientists and their sassy black friend jailed for a murder they didn't commit). Presumably, they covered for them while at the same time painting them as frauds, as part of their truce.

The media spin on this story is complete bullshit. People were already harassing Leslie Jones and she was retweeting it all, including the Hamtaro porn. Milo's response was to tell her to stop playing the victim. When she blocked him, he then said he'd been rejected by "yet another black dude."

In other words, he didn't contact her until partway through her tantrum, and didn't mock her until after he was blocked. He did nothing to stoke the flames. That was all on Leslie. But the media is pinning this entire thing on him, and that really pisses me off.
