Yeah, this collection has been building since like 09 when I first started but I had like a 2 year gap where I stopped buying or caring about new releases so this year I've just been catching up on things and trying to get some newer stuff that interests me.I think I've gotten about like 40 books this year already limiting myself to about 100 dollars or less a month.

Not sure what's in the Anniversary edition, but the entire second half is a gallery of every cover Ross has done for Marvel up to that point.

Looking online it seems the art less cropped than the other editions in pic related.

So maybe not worth it, but it's really gorgeous.

I hate floppies, but I maintain a pull list of 6+ titles so I get a 15% discount on all items, the LCS is also the local cinema, and the discount goes for drinks and popcorn and sweetest too. and I want to support my lcs, first one we have had in town in 20 years, until it came ro be I'd have to take a bus or drive 40+ miles to the nearest lcs

Carol's 2006 run. Found the first volume at the SA for a few bucks, thought I'd give it a go. Got an issue and a half in a several pages were ripped out. Now I scrutinize all books I buy used like that. I was getting into it, too.

I wouldn't be against buying the Kamala series either, though. Have enjoyed reading that.

>Volume 4 snuck up on me, I was in the store earlier in the week, spotted it and snatched that shit up fast.
Had mine on preorder at Waterstones. It's not even out on Amazon yet but they seem to have pushed the release date forward a couple of weeks presumably for movie synergy.
>>
>>84540752
Brian Reed did a very good job at writing Carol, the art leaves something to be desired, but I'm not complaining. I'd recommend Kamala's run if only for the stellar artwork and little visual gags hidden everywhere in that series. Not to mention it's well written.

I prefer buying books as hardcover, but not every book is available. >>84547632
Man, DC is pretty fucking generous as far as the old Suicide Squad comics are concerned, they add in a few issues that tie into the story being told from other titles like Doom Patrol, Checkmate, Firestorm, even Bronze Tiger has a single issue featured in these trades, and I think that's just fucking awesome. The trades I picked up for Ghost Racers, Thors, and the Spider-Island tie ins to Secret Wars also featured bonus issues in them, until then I hadn't ever seen this is any of the trades on my shelf, aside from Triumph and Torment.

This is an insanely long shot. But are there any anons that know whether there are any second-hand DVD shops in Shrewsbury / UK where you can trade in old paperbacks and stuff?

A few places I've lived have had them but the only shops where you can trade stuff in I can think of are just films.

I'm slowly selling stuff on ebay but would like to just get it done at a loss - rather than listing and relisting over and over again.

Pretty cool. Collects almost all the appearances of Prez before the new series.
Pretty much half of the book is the original series, with the rest being appearances.
>>

I really enjoyed the Sandman issue of Prez. Worth a buy?
>>
>>84580548
I'd say yes.
The classic series is by Joe Simon (of Simon and Kirby). It is a very bizarre satirical series which I think still holds up nicely, in terms of writing and content.
The Sandman story is reprinted here as well, which I though was beautiful.
I haven't read the Brubaker one but it seems very much like the Sandman issue than the original. Looking forward to reading that.

If you're just doing the Levitz run onwards it should be pretty cheap. There may be one or two issues that run in the $10 range, but nothing pricey.

The main thing driving up comic prices is the first appearance of a major character, so Legion is safe from that since no one cares

>Do they decide to kill a series on single sales only or do they wait for the trade before making the chop?
It's complicated. DC and Marvel have high standards as to what counts as a success, so poorly selling books get cut regardless of how well the trades do. Save for some curious exceptions.

Smaller publishers have lower expectations on how many orders they expect to get, so some try to play the long game while keeping monthly ongoings as their bread and butter.

I only just got into comics again two years ago. I read Ultimate Spider-Man when I was a kid, but not the whole series, just an issue here and there. I'm thinking of selling the Edmondson Punisher comics just because of issue 3's ending. Lesson learned, I guess - never buy an ongoing series.

Right now, I'm waiting on Punisher MAX Vol 3 and 4 to be released at the end of the year. I might pick up The Boys Omnibus Vol 1 when it gets reprinted in January, might not since to my knowledge Vol 2 and 3 never got physical printings. I've also heard The Boys omnibuses don't have Herogasm or the Hughie and Butcher stories. And the Definitive Editions have been out of print for years and are crazy expensive. Might get all six volumes of Preacher when I have the money.

I'd also like to pick up some of Frank Miller's work on Daredevil and Batman, specifically Allstar Batman and Robin. Maybe Sin City, even though I've been told the movies are pretty much directly adapted from the pages.

The only thing I hate about having physical comics is that sometimes I'll read a comic online that's been out of print for years, maybe even decades. The Thing from Another World goes for hundreds of dollars online, and it's a good comic but not "hundreds of dollars" good.

Any recommendations? Don't let this lowly "collection" fool you, my taste in comics isn't "mature comics for mature people like myself." I'm open to pretty much anything.

Oh, man. Thank you for this. I'm leaving for Comic-con tomorrow and will add these to my search list!

Ellis' Moon Knight.
>>
>>84607300
Try Preacher, I get the feeling you'll like anything by Ennis.
>>
>>84608468
I've already read that one, didn't like the artwork and the ending was completely stupid.
>>
>>84607300
you should try stray bullets and criminal
>>
Oops, this >>84608722 could've been attached to this >>84608720
I liked Preacher, but Dillon's artwork was very distracting, and the ending felt forced.
>>84608752
Both of those are ongoings, but they look interesting. Thanks.
>>84608709
I've heard that's a good run, I'll check it out. Would you recommend Transmetropolitan? Keeps getting mentioned on /co/.

Too lazy to take new pics and edit them.
Here is the new stuff not in the pic:

>FF omnibus by Hickman 1 and 2 (good deal on clean copies)
>Other two Grendels and last Prison Pit
>Chew Omnivores 2, 4 (rest on the way)
>Lazarus Book 2
>Demon Knights 2 and 3
>Prez seen here >>84580365
>Animal Man 4 (6 is on the way)
>Black Science HC (it's not that bad)
>Doom Patrol Omni (was on sale so didn't wait for the TPBs)
>Remaining two Ditko archives from Fanta

Couldn't read much these last few days since I got some eye infection. Still making my way through Dylan Dog and loving it.
>>
>>84609001
>Would you recommend Transmetropolitan?
Not him but yes.
>>
>>84609001
/co/ seems to like Transmet but Ellis has never really worked for me.

Why is something being an ongoing a problem, just curious?
>>
>>84609001
criminal isn't ongoing anymore is it, sometimes they do some special or whatever but it's done
>>
So I've been thinking of starting on Dredd's Complete Case Files, but I'm not sure if I really want it all.
Anyone who's read it that can give tips on which volumes contain the best material?
>>
>>84609097
Volume 5 is the best place to jump in from that perspective

It is Judge Death Lives
Block Mania
and
Apocalypse War
>>
>>84609119
Thanks, that's what I'll start with.
>>
>>84609093
>>84609046
Ok, good to know.
>>84609071
I just don't like having to wait is all. Like I mentioned before, I'd rather not be built up with anticipation only to get a shit ending. A weak ending is enough to ruin a whole thing for me. It's why I've only read Preacher once (though I do want to read it again eventually). Same thing with GotG (the movie).
>>
>>84609257
If an ending ruins the WHOLE series for you, you never enjoyed any of it to begin with.
Also you might want to add Scalped to your list.

>Marvel Book Previews (January - April 2017)

>>
>>84609311
I guess I worded that wrong. I really like everything about GotG except the part where Ronan gets defeated because he was distracted by Star Lord dancing. Just came off as very lazy writing. And with those Punisher comics this year, L I T E R A L L Y everything in the story goes unresolved so Frank could leave to be part of some comic tie-in. I had to use wikipedia to find out what the fuck happened at the end.

I didn't like Aaron's Punisher run, but I'll try Scalped.
>>
>>84609482
scalped is aaron's best work
it's several leagues above anything else he's done

Things of note that we haven't seen before
>Mighty Avengers by Brian Michael Bendis - The Complete Collection

>Iron Fist: The Living Weapon - The Complete Collection
>Avengers : The Complete Celestial Madonna Saga
>X-Men Legacy: Legion Omnibus

>X-Men Legacy: Legion Omnibus
only a matter of time till spurrier announces something new for marvel now
>>
>>84609634
I fucking hate Living Weapon but it's cool to see some Marvel NOW 1.0 stuff get complete collections. I've been hoping for a couple series to get them because Marvel's default trades are uuuuuuuugly.

I think he was being sarcastic, those are neatly organized shelves anon.

I dig Spurrier. His X-Force was good and his Cry Havoc book at Image was intriguing. But I don't think Marvel knew what they had in him as a talent.
>>
>>84609634
Still think it's disappointing that Excalibur Epic Collection vol 1 doesn't include the Moore/Davis Captain Britain stuff. Marvel needs to put out a new collection of that

Nice!

Nice Dredd comics man!
Here's mine, I've posted it multiple times, but I'll bump this thread.
>>
>>84619075
Yea it was your exact pic that's the reason I found out they published those megacase files do u know why my number 9 is different from yours though? And is it possibly to get all 27 in person or is eBay my best bet
>>
>>84616808
I wonder if there are some problems with the rights like any original character Moore may have co created. I don't know how the Marvel UK stuff fits into the rest of Marvel

in comparison I know that the Euro branch of Disney handles business and creative rights differently than the US Disney branch based on what Don Rosa has said about working with both
>>
>>84619505
Well your Case Files 9 is the British edition.
They're releasing the Case Files in North America with white spines. Their are 10 so far. If you wait for them to release them all, you can get them in person if you live in America. But I couldn't wait so I ordered the remaining British editions off of Amazon.
>>
>>84617343
Just give me a reprint of the Jack Kirby stuff and the Captain America run from the 70's
>>
>>84619652
Oh okay I was hoping it was something like that, that means I won't have to rebuy it. Also in the comic stack is a bunch of predator comic and judge dredd comics
>>
>>84618740
>>84619075

This is going to make me sound like a total pleb, but do you guys have any req's on where to start with Dredd in colour?
>>
>>84619610

I assume it's something like that, tho it's not like there's huge demand they're sleeping on
>>
>>84609343

I love how when the Canadian dollar is on par with US dollars, we pay canadian cover price still. And when it goes down again we get screwed even harder, so quick to update the prices here when its to their advantage but not when its an even playing field.. I see what you're doing Marvel you hook nosed pieces of shit.
>>
>>84621361
Well in the Case Files it starts to be in full color at volume 12. Modern Dredd trades i'd recommend are: America, Tour of Duty and Day of Chaos trades.
>>
>>84621454
>tho it's not like there's huge demand they're sleeping on

I feel like from a marketing stand point slapping on FROM THE AUTHOR OF WATCHMEN is a easy well to sell some books

Then again there was the whole " Original Author" thing
>>
>>84621478
It's fucked up especially with the overpriced books
>>
Is Boy's Club actually worth a look or is it an actual meme?
>>
>>84602442
>>84602442
how is the deadly class hardcover?
>>
>>84622261
Boy's Club is... weird. it used to get posted here fairly regularly before sadfrog/pepe became so ubiquitous. it's not really plot-based and each page is a self-contained joke or situation. the humor is both surreal and juvenile. the closest comparison i can make is Meg, Mogg and Owl, if the crew was more PG13-rated and were 90s kids in the 90s. so, yea. an acquired taste, at best.
>>
>>84623074
Really nice actually. Probably the best quality image HC from the current generation of them. Image is weird about not making every book uniform.
>>
>>84627002
I think its b/c Image is about the creators' wants for the design of the book. Maybe?
>>
>>84628240
That could be it but the image HC released in the last two years are fairly standard. They all about look the same. Except Sex Criminals, Invincible, and Chew.
>>
>>84628240
>about the creators' wants for the design of the book. Maybe?
I actually asked Brandon Graham about this on his tumbler

The creators are able to make certain changes and requests, but the collection department has standard formats that most people just go with because they're the cheapest option. Any changes increase the production cost

So how's Lone Wolf & Cub? Seen it on lots of shelves.

It's decent, It's kind of like Marshall Law in that it's a parody of Judge dredd. The art alone makes it worth a read.
