It would be so easy, too. She was able to control her urges because of Wolverine's healing factor blood. Where is she getting that now? A writer could just have her start to loose control and panic, leaving the kid in the care of her room-mates so she can seek out Laura.

An easy way to complicate the situation would be to have Daken on a quest to restore his healing factor and lost arm. While Laura's out shutting down scientists who experiment on mutants, Daken could be seeking those same scientists out, looking to do work for them in return for their help. He could end up hunting Jubilee to use as a specimen or alternately to become a vampire himself as a last resort. This would keep Jubilee and Laura busy for awhile, I figure.

And since Daken would be no match for them in his current state, I'd have him working with Wild Child, who still has regenerative healing factor from that stupid Romulus story. He's the sort of character who needs someone to lead him. It wouldn't be hard to give him a reason to help Daken.

There's so much to work with, really, and it would have a nice balance with two female main characters and two male main characters, all with their own motivations.

Seriously been thinking of pitching this idea to Marvel if I can flesh it out enough to write a good script.

The missing arm and messed up healing factor are such a great opportunity for character development he desperately needs though. One think he can't stand is feeling vulnerable, and yet there is fuck all h can do about it in that state.

Honestly the only good X-23 story I've ever seen was the one with Jubilee in France. Every other story she just comes off as a boring "I am a slightly emotionless and sad monster though I do not want to be" type like they constantly try and make Black Widow. I don't like that she was brought in purely because Quesada had a boner for her and got shoved into NXM (she was forced onto the book by editorial before it was decided to have Yost/Kyle write it).

She's a character who's been pushed pretty consistently since her debut over other, frankly better, characters but isn't particularly interesting IMO.

I don't like how she's being handled, ether. It's like she lacks any cohesive narrative and any character development or quirks she gets are undone by the next writer. Her current book is especially garbage. Just completely generic strong female lead type with no personality.

and my story idea centers around identity crisis. That would be the theme for all four characters so I could play them off each other and use them to build each other's narratives up. Take the broken pieces of characterization and bad continuity and shape it into something that might stick.

And yeah, well... I liked Wolverine when he was a character with personality flaws and a limited healing factor, named Logan. It was bad enough when they made him effectively immortal, it was even worse when they made him James, and presented him as morally superior to everyone else. I like trying to think of ways to fix characters, but god damn, Wolverine is wrecked.
