I've got 40 or so minutes before work and have been catching up a bit on some Marvel books I missed, why not share the Korean love?
Special props to Sonia Oback's outstanding coloring.
thanks champ
So the Hulk is essentially about the duality of man, yes? Everyone who Hulks out is expressing the side of themselves they typically suppress.
Bruce suppresses his anger and so becomes a raging monster, Jen suppresses her sexuality and is shy and so becomes an outgoing bombshell, Ross hates the Hulk but secretly wants that power so that comes out in Rulk, and so on, not going into the multiple personalities of Bruce's Hulk.
So Cho is typically kind of an egotistical douche, so what is it that's coming out in his Hulk? Wanting to be the hero and not the scientist? That's what I've been getting from it (I'm up to issue 4). He talks about how Bruce is underappreciated as a hero and everyone views him as a bomb waiting to go off. And there's a recurring allegory of the power of the Hulk being an out of control high speed car, with Cho at the wheel and a dark vision of the Hulk looming in the background.
I'm taking that as Cho's fear of the raging monster side of the Hulk, the doubt in his mind about whether he can control it, or even if Bruce could.
Oh, and if you haven't noticed, Frank Cho is the patron deity of THICC women.

>>84493699
BLM declared its not his fault, its the fault of the evil rich white man Tony Stark, flying around policing the world, shooting countless innocents.
>>84490795
I love that this series acknowledges Tony and Bruce's long and fucked up history. They've been outright enemies and the best of friends, sometimes at the same time.
>>84490537
Why doesn't this cover say "The Totally Awesome Thor"? Why isn't he in a Thor outfit? This makes no sense.
>>84493737
I was more going for the fact that Cho blames Stark for a lot of the stuff the whole hero community, and more specifically Ross did to Hulk, because for a while Iron Man was Hulk's most public rival.
I mean besides Thor and Thing and no one can hate Jane-Thor and Thing hasn't been relevant to other heroes in forever.

>>84495525
I've always been a fan of Cho. He's such a dork under Pak.

>Wee babby Jack Kirby drawing Hulk
D'aww.
>>84496197
>Baby Jack Kirby
I....I never noticed that.
>>84495525
Who was complaining about this? Cho was probably the best accepted one of these legacy dealies out there mostly because people liked the team though. And they didn't yank everyone around with stupid gimmicks.
The only time anyone had an issue with it was when they were hiding it was Cho and even then everyone was making jokes about how it was a black tranny or something lke that.
>>84495525
Newer Marvel fans seem to be allergic to legacies in general, I think they see characters being "replaced" as some kind of attack on classic characters. Especially with Marvel doing a lot of transparent publicity stunts with these legacies.Personally I think it's a very /v/mentality.
Also to be fair, most of these so called legacies are clearly gimmicks. But I hope Captain Falcon and Whor and Cholk stick around for awhile (under good writers) while the old guard does new stuff.
>>84497222
Lots of people, and plus whenever people list out the complaints of modern marvel
>Hulks is asian
Is always up there.
>>84497435
I think it's fair to see it that way since Marvel couldn't introduce a legacy character organically if their life depended on it.
>>84497489
>Lots of people, and plus whenever people list out the complaints of modern marvel >Hulks is asian Is always up there.
I guarantee you that's a kneejerk reaction from people who haven't actually read Totally Awesome Hulk. Or, like, enough Hulk to know who Amadeus is.
SJWs who applaud every diversity replacement and neckbeards who decry every diversity replacement are two sides of the same, non-comic-reading coin.

What kind of garbage is this? I guess I missed all the outrage when this first happened, but how is this kind of crappy writing acceptable?
>>84502081
Bendis is the worst writer who literally gives no shits about what anyone does before or AT THE SAME TIME as what he's doing.
The only silver lining here is people are actually starting to wise up, even CBR the biggest Marvel Shill site is turning against Bendis.
>>84501991
Cheque is a noun and refers to a very specific item. Check is a verb and means something completely different.
There should always be a =/= sign between those two words unless you're speaking metaphorically.
Also, I'm not even a Brit.I'm Canadian.
>>84502136
If it's pronounced the same then people don't bother spelling it differently. I guess that's why.
>>84502134
Can't really say "better late than never" considering the damage he's already done, but at least there's hope for an end to this fiasco.
But then again, someone at the office should have stopped him when he finished with the Spider-verse. He's already shown what he was capable of, and what he isn't. There's no reason why he should allowed to continue as a major writer after that point.
>>84492232
Then he got Bendis'ed. I get it. I see why everyone is mad.

>>84490331

>>84497222
I'm just gonna say it, out of all the Hulks there's been, Cho is the one I like the least. He just feels like such a tool as the Hulk and that's really not a trait I find attractive in a Hulk. I wouldn't care as much if Banner was still around but the fact that they depowered and then killed off Banner to bolster up Cho makes me dislike him even more.
>>84489480does she keep gasher and gnasher around for the dp
>>84502134
This idea suddenly came to me, but if we just bought the Hulk Trades when they come out and pretend that was the end of Banner's story and completely ignore everything that happen in Civil War II, would things go back to normal after a while? If we just waited long enough, would the timeline eventually unfuck itself?
Based
>>84503691
Interesting thought.
Someone should tweet Marvel asking if CW2 takes place on an alternate earth since it's making such illogical choices
>>84491048
>dwarven fortress

>>84498649
Because bendis is a hack that literally doesn't care about comic books other than the ones he writes (and even then that's dubious).
I don't go throwing the h-word around with abandon, but for him, it fits.
>>84501145
He actually sounds like Spider-Man in this.
>>84499358
I wish math really worked like that.
>>84489267

>>84490427

>>84503639
>they depowered and then killed off Banner to bolster up Cho makes me dislike him even more
That isn't a 'they' fault. That's Bendis. Given the end of this story time they were setting up Bruce for actual peace but Bendis needs some more shitty, out of character fuel for the fire.
And him being a douche is a character flaw, something that all well written characters should have and as a hero he gets to work on fixing it.
>>84507230
No it's more than just Bendis as people like Brevoort and Axel Alonso have shown to be behind Bendis on this for the sake of "diversity" as if the MU isn't big enough for both.
>>84502136
>>84501991
Not to be THAT nerd, but "check" is a noun in chess play, which is where the etymology of the word comes from, and in either form (cheque or check), the actual source origin is the French "exchequer."
In the case you two are both using, it's refers to the noun form equivalent: bank check or bank draft, or blank check (all noun forms, irrespective of spelling).

>>84510246
>err, what?! how did he get the flu? I thought if you're the hulk you can't get the flu?
The issue was about Cho starting to become afraid of the Hulk so showing that he gets sick when Banner doesn't is the reaffirmation that he's his own Hulk with his own problems.
