Valkyrie Drive started airing, which was uncensored. We wanted to discuss the show and posted screen caps. A new mod wandered in and started deleting pictures and banning people.

He posted in the thread about how nipples were never allowed on /a/, spoilered or not. Everyone tried to tell him he was wrong but he didn't think he was. People contacted Hirohito and he fixed the problem. We then continued posting nipples in Valkyrie Drive threads. Might have some screen caps from the shit storms it kicked up around the board with nipple spammers.

The whole episode felt like the kind of thing that should have never been approved. Don't get me wrong I thought it was good but it went places I wouldnt have expected this show to go. To be completely honest, no. I love thst they're just good friends, in contrast to every other cartoon ever with male and female leads. It's a huge breath of fresh air. I feel like I'm the only person in the world who doesn't. It always bugged me that in movies and shows you can't have a boy and girl character just be friends. By the end of the show they're going to become a couple no matter what. Like, I really enjoyed the dynamic ron and kim had in Kim Possible, but of course they had to hook up in the end because boys and girls can't just be friends.

I think the only example I've seen that hasn't followed this formula is American Dragon. There was an episode where it was valentine's day or something and everybody kept suggesting Trixie and Spud hook up. At the end of the episode they give in, kiss, then shrug and realize they both have absolutely no feelings for each other.

I really like marco and Star's dynamic, I feel like making them a couple is a bit forced.

I think so. It might just be the lighting of the scene, but the illusion Star Ludo saw had green eyes, and just before she showed up, Ludo saw a green shooting star in the sky.

I also love how much the show seems to be heading away from the pure and sweet nobody-ever-gets-hurts theme that seemed present in the earliest episodes. Yes its refreshing to see them being just friends but come on is an actual romantic overarching polot even that common in cartoon a series? In movies, yes, Disney has made sure the princess and the prince kiss at the end but in the regular saturday morning cartoons that have come out since the 80'sm I think Kim Possible and AtLA (and Korra) are the only ones that really focused on the romantic subplot. There are a couple of others out there I guess but overall any actual emphasis on a slowly developing romance between main characters is pretty rare in animated cartoon series, even though its a very common trope in other media and animated movies.

They will have to overcome a lot in order to be together with all the ex-boyfriends, competing crushes, evil sorcerers, the threat of being sent back to Mewni or princess-jail or whatever and never seeing eachother again and all that. The romance in this case will increase the stakes and improves the story, and isn't forced really.

I want the story to be about two friends going on adventures and facing danger, not two lovers seeing how much they can avoid and overcome just so they can make it to each others love handles at the end of the night. A lot of people go on about the parallels between Marco and Toffee, but don't mention the parallels between Star and Ludo as much.

Star is the main protagonist, and Ludo is the main antagonist. He's the ice king to Star's Finn.

Star is a princess, and while Ludo is never referred to as royalty, he grew up in a castle and had a squad of goons to wait on him hand and foot, so he's probably more privileged (and I mean that in the actual way not the tumblr way) than the average monster.

They can both act foolishly, but have/had someone smarter as a sidekick. Star has Marco, Ludo had Buff Frog and Toffee.

In the season 2 premiere, they both learn how to adapt without something they had previously depended on or used as a crutch. Star learned to cast magic without her wand (which will probably be useful if Ludo/Toffee/someone else swipes it to cleave the wand together and/or set up the season finale) and Ludo learned to take care of himself and bend others to his will without the aide of his goons or the resources his castle had (I'm assuming the monsters stuck around because Ludo fed/paid them.)
