Everyday Marvel strays further from God's light...
>>84432423
Are you talking about no x-books besides death of X in october ?
>>84432333
The way they drew Magma's lava body on this cover is interesting.
>>84432637
Yes. I am slowly but surely losing faith on that company.
>>84432637
Have faith, fellow followers of the X, for the Uncanny strength of the characters shall guide the writer's back to the true path should they stray for too long...
>>84432792
I don't know man, it does feel pretty hopeless...
>>84432459
>that 3rd panel
.....
Maybe a billionaire will buy the rights from Marvel/Disney some day?
>>84432871
Err... no comment there.
Although to be fair, NY getting fucked up was a pretty common visual back before 9/11.
>>84432924
the fetish maid costumes have taken away the awkwardness from that
>>84432887
While I hate how Marvel treats them these days I don't know if I want to see the X-Men out of the MU. As we'll see along this storytime, the muties have been an important cornerstone of the Marvel universe for a long time.
>>84432832
Trust me, the zeitgeist has a healing factor.
Ideas and concepts always have a way of course-correcting when enough people of goodwill are involved.
That's kinda a principle of constitutional democracy, the foundation of American governance, and if that can keep the U.S, going for over 200 years, I'm sure it can keep something really important, like the X-Men, from self-destructing too.
>>84432832
>>84433038
They've been cancelled before
>>84433038
Let's hope you're right.
Doesn't this lead to a really weird Conan thing happening?
>>84433059
True, but that was back when Marvel couldn't really afford to waste any characters, so they would never be away forever.
>>84433084
What was so weird about Pimp Conan, the barbarian?
How are you guys doing tonight?
>>84433159
That shit was fucking awesome.
>>84433173
when i first read Claremont I stalled forever because of this issue. Conan don't do it for me.
i wonder if these'll be reprinted ever
>>84433059
>>84433142
How many #1s of Uncanny X-Men are out there? it's gotta be at least five...
>An Age Undreamed Of
That's how you know you're in Conan territory.
>>84433218
I think just 3? Lee/Kriby, Bendis/Bachelo(?), and Bunn/Land. Claremont/Lee was just X-Men
man that's a fucking cliff
>>84433249
I wonder if they planned for Barry Windsor Smith to draw this or an issue in this arc.
>>84433218
Four.
>>84433258
You forgot Gillen/Pacheco.
>>84433314
By the way, is the lack of shirtless men in this line-up fucking bullshit or what?
>>84433314
Shit... what a short run, i guess i assumed he wrapped up the original Uncanny #
>>84433489
That's modern Marvel for ya.
I'll admit this Conan shit really does come out of nowhere but it's fun.
>>84433314
Why isn't Strange solving this problem?
>>84433314
>>84433364
i like this scene of mutant racism
>>84433651
Oh. Smart thinking because Strange ends fools. Dracula and the vampire race found out the hardest way possible.
>>84433581
>>84433581
i'm laughing really hard at him (seemingly) randomly wanting revenge on Spider-Man
>>84433794
that's a fun What If...
>>84433829
Gath and Spidey have crossed paths before.
>>84433846
What if? Strange murdered the entire vampire race one time. The Doc in his prime was NOT to be fucked with.
>>84433907
No, there's a what if where he doesn't and Wolverine becomes a vampire and the Punisher has to Frank vampires.
It may not be from the same story but still Strange vs Vampires.
>>84433900
did he just eat her?
>>84434004
Because of this cover I always think this issue is an Avengers issue crossing over into the Conan story
>>84433106
>Xavier's outfit
Anyone else remember Malvolio's crossed yellow garter's on Twelfth Night?
>>84434122
is this the first tentacle hands? Because it becomes a pretty big claremont trope.
>>84434275
I think so, yeah.
>>84434204
I enjoy they aren't even gonna try and explain how Vision would work in Conan land
>>84434347
wait did he just change star fox's clothes?
>>84434347
>my darling rahne
Claremont doesn't even try to be subtle
>>84434351
Enchanted statue maybe?
>>84434420
Dani and Rahne have a more sister thing iirc.
>>84434470
I would never refer to my sister as my "darling"
>>84434470
Why would you say that? Why would you take this from us? ... We have soo little.
>>84434572
lol
>>84434470
I always thought you could take pretty much any two original New Mutants and have a decent ship.
>>84434444
Pretty much, called him a golem
>>84434543
That is all for today, more UXM tomorrow!
>>84434846
Good night!
>>84434846
Good night
>>84433210
Yep
https://www.amazon.ca/X-Men-Epic-Collection-Marvel-Comics/dp/0785192174
Pretty much 189 through 214 has been collected in
>X-Men Epic Collection:The Gift(#189-#198which also includes part of the Asgardian Wars and the Nightcrawler mini),
>X-Men: Ghosts(#199 to #209), and
>X-Men: Mutant Massacre (#210 to #214, plus the tie in issues with New Mutants, Thor ect)
Reading the three of them is a nice little arc. Basically you see the gradual transition from the Post-Phoenix Saga/New Mutants era X-Men to the beginning stages of the late 80's early 90's edgy X-Men.
>>84434122
This is some /d/ level fetish fuel Cleremont. My God.
>>84435104
What if Disney read all of Claremont's pervtacularness and when they bought/purchased/assimilated Marvel they decided to SANITIZE global culture a little more?
And THAT is why all the X-books have been cancelled and Cyclops has been vilified and Wolverine is dead and *Death of X* is coming...?
>>84436378
Bullshit. It's about money and copyright and lawsuits, same as ever.
>>84435053
Fuck yeah, this is my fav X-era. Also since it looks like they're collecting it I just need to figure out/hope for a collection of 144-153.and some reprints of other books would be nice
>>84437137
Tsk * Tsk * Tsk * , oh you innocent child, that's just the coverstory! Wake up sheeple! Slapstick getting his own book and a positive attitude to go with it is just the beginning, next comes the "subtle" messaging...
Beware the tween themed group with the signature iconic archtypes! That's how Disney lures in new pod-people victims!
>>84437275
This? Okay, but what about the late '80s when everything went off the rails and they had to do another #1 relaunch?
They said the switch to Blue/Gold teams saved the franchise, you know they were "saving" it from some truly horrible stories.
There's stormy seas for X-Anon's threads in the future.
>>84432333
>Part 36
>I'm on archive part 3
>Only threads I've read live were Dazzler and Iceman threads.
I feel like I may never catch up with this readalong.
>>84437786
Well you're damned lucky, for some reason I can't get the archives to load anymore, so if I miss one I never see it again.
>>84438279
They're at Desuarchive now. Desustorage got vanned.
>>84433396
Why did the colorist make Callisto black in panel 3?
>>84437385
Oh god shut up.
>>84434820
And this is why the Marvel Universe after this point is an alternate reality.
>>84439069
Shutting up, Sir!
>>84432459
Go, my kinky bdsm assassin!
>>84432538
Kurt should dress like a stripper more often
>>84432777
>I cannot escape my kinky past.
fucking love claremont
>>84432777
>sexy maids
Really Claremont? That's the kinkiest you could come up with?
>>84433879
Everyone loves dressing Rachel up in sexy/fetishy outfits.
