Well they told the aftermath for two of the three characters. Star will learn magic without her wand. (Which would have destroyed Ludo with a wand) And Ludo is learning how to build a army and not just being given one. Now we just need to find out what is going on with Toffee.

The use of quiet in this episode was stellar, especially for a show that can be a little obnoxious with the "XD so randum" time to time.

I like how Ludo's bizarre adventure highlighted his tenacity in the face of adversity. Is this a step to him becoming a serious player in his own right, or is Toffee starting to pull Xanatos gambits?

I actually figured this one out. He wants the monsters to win a fair fight. If he simply stole the wand and took over stars home, you have a repeat, just monsters and Munies switching places, eventually wand switching places. If the wand was destroyed it would be a fair fight but that didn't happen. If both the Munies and monsters get a part of the wand there will be a true winner... Or maybe even peace.

Literally they had a wall beetween them, but the episode setted up several plot points, most importatnly the fact that star can use magic witouth the wand and that the dip down thing was triggered by marco, just like in the end of storm the castle, also the fact that star is hiding what she feels for marco, be it romantic or not, Glossaric fucking with marco to trigger stars magic,and something is clearly wrong with the horse in the wand.

And holy fuck the whole ludo episode turned him from a little shit to a somewhat likeable character, it felt like a samurai jack episode.
Now the point of that episode bieng what is gonna happen during those 90 days that ludo spent in the wild before finding the wand, either he is gonna be abscent till mid season or until the finale.

I'm trying to temp down my Starco wiles here, I agree that it's probably the second. Maybe on the first few days she actually harbored some mean feelings for him that she no longer had by end of S1, but she is still ashamed about them.

I also find it interesting that in the end the 'spark' for her dipping down is the old form of personal journals, while she started the episode in the new form of personal journal.

If Star will blurt out those mean feelings eventually, then it can be seen as the development of how teenage girls use diaries. Vlogs are far more public than personal diary and the user of the latter may slip up after experience with the former.

Well both were clearly setup episodes for the new season, so they were both going to be somewhat subdued. With that in mind I'd give both a 7/10 as they both did a solid job outlining where our main characters and primary antagonist are in the wake of the blow out season 1 finale. In addition they had their moments, Star and Marco's friendship is still solid but given Star has both secrets and new powers to master there's some room for new developments. Ludo learning to be a more competent regular antagonist is also a really good sign, I enjoyed the simplicity of the episode but I felt the environments could have been a bit more magical for it to have scored higher.

I wouldn't be so quick to jump on it being about shipping, given Daron is the one at the helm. From her numerous interviews it seems pretty clear that Daron wants to tell a story focused on Star and her coming of age, split between two worlds. Marco, whilst a main character, is really acting as a supporting character for the focus of the show in the form of Star.

However, despite that he is his own unique character with his own trials and tribulations; so too are other big supporting characters like Ludo, Toffee and both sets of parents. I suppose my point is, it's unlikely they're going to be characters purely tacked on to develop some shipping formula, they're likely to be their own characters who may play some part in young romance, given it's a big part of the whole coming of age story.

Janna's already been shown to be a unique case, she's weird and a bit morbid, there's tons that could be done with that. For now we don't know enough about Jackie to really say, she seems chilled out and down for excitement but you're right in that she could just be 'the love interest', but given the consistent unique character setups with the rest of the cast I'm confident she'll be interesting in her own right. I mean, even Oskar has things going on and he's going to be in one of next weeks episodes playing a part, future's looking bright in my mind.
