Would've been much better if the show wasn't about Batman constantly hogging the spotlight. Hell, it's his fault the show had all that "hurr Batman shouldn't be goofy" shit.

Turbo FAST. It was done by the same crew that did Motor City, so I guess it makes sense, but man for such a terrible boring movie they actually made a pretty funny cartoon. Except for any Skid Mark episode. Comedy relief sidekicks should never ever get their own episodes.

Confession time: I always thought it was silly that one of his sidekick friends was a birdperson. Now, I haven't watched this show since I was a little kid and I'm sure they probably had a perfectly reasonable explanation for him being a bird, but even as a kid I found it a little distracting and thought it made the show look a tad more ridiculous and babyish. Though I'm probably forgetting a lot of other outlandish shit it had that never bothered me for some reason.

Talespin. They just took characters from the jungle book, shoved them into the setting, and called it a show. And it was pretty damned good. It should have been just a bad spinoff, but managed to be fantastic in it's own right.

Earthworm Jim. Yet another video-game licensed show following in the footsteps of all the SMB and Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons. Should have been as bad as the others, but instead was probably the best video-game licensed show of the bunch. Having a pretty good voice cast didn't hurt.

Young man has to stop Undying Skeleton Wizard King Tim Curry from enslaving the world, with the help of a sagacious birdman and an immortal viking warrior.

Side quests involving horrifying side villains are also common.

For a show designed to sell Polly Pocket for boys, it was impressively hard core.

I really wonder how SWAT Kats Revolution is going to be when they finally go and start making it.

From what I've heard it's going to be like this:
>Megakat City is on the brink of being torn apart due to T-Bone and Razor being absent for years.
>The reason they are absent was because their tech is old and they cannot catch up to the villains.
>Callie is holding the city (barely) and Manx is even more corrupted than ever (probably he cut the Enforcers budget and thus no new junk appears for Chance and Jake to salvage).
>Dark Kat managed to create a villain alliance over the years and is slowly putting his plans into fruition.
>SWAT Kats are going to meet a hacker girl that will help them get back into the vigilante business and save Megakat City by supplying them with tech to upgrade their gear and the Turbo Kat.
>The duo will also go to Viper's creepy murder swamp to find an old acquaintance who stood up to them when Feral wanted to bash them. Said acquaintance mutated due to being too long in the swamp and at first he's a mindless mutant. He gets better but he's still mutated and becomes their ally.
>Show will go deeper into the setting and characters (there will be a Dark Kat origin story).
>There will be new villains appearing (the kids of the Metallikats...even though how the two would have kids is something of a mystery).
>The radical levels and crazy action remains.

Two-fold, the Legend of Zelda cartoon, and the Captain N cartoon along with the comics.

Neither of these shows had any right to be as great as they actually were.

Any sort of licencing deal related to Godzilla is a big barrel of money-sucking complicatedness.

Which is why this cartoon, the Hanna-Barbera show, the 2014 American movie, the proposed 1994 American movie and the canceled sequel to the 1998 American movie all had to make up their own monsters.
>>
I'd kill to see a movie get made where Max, starting from the beginning again, uses his knowledge of past events to make better decisions. He convinces villains who could have had a second chance to rethink their lives, prevents some of the many deaths from happening, all the while Virgil has to warn him that his knowledge of the previous timeline can have dire consequences, however Max is counting on this as a means of finally vanquishing Skullmaster once and for all.

Toho was, for completely understandable reasons, loathe to loan out the IP for their monster line up.

But honest to god Adelaide productions knew what they were doing with this shit. One of the running gags with the artsits was they'd take a name for a Toho monster when it came time to design a new monster for the show and then just draw something utterly unrelated to the source material.

Also this show was bought like a solid year before the movie hit theaters. There was an entire smoke screen called "TEAM H.E.A.T" where they pretetnded they were making something else, had a dog made of fire as a team pet and everything.

so the movie drops, is pretty goddamn bad for a godzilla movie (more a "it came from 20'000 leagues than godzilla) and they're left working with scraps from the movie.

and they do a pretty goddamn good job all things considered, even go so far as to make an episode that's an homage to the thing.

It's a pretty hard tie between season 3 Ben and the breakup flashback Ben from Omniverse where he literally acts like a heartless monster to Julie because "lol, he's not paying attention and shouting at a video game!"

If it weren't for the new shitty art style, I wouldn't be all that bothered by the reboot because at least they could try to make a Ben who is enjoyable.

If there was one show I'd remake, it'd be this. It wouldn't be a remake per se; instead touching up the original set of episodes to fix any animation issues and be more presentable for modern tvs, and then a full new season that concludes the original story as intended.

Granted, that's if the original people aren't all dead or have forgotten what they intended.

Pretty much all of the non-Japanese made series are fairly well received. Animated was like a modern-day reincarnation of Beast Wars. The two of them came into the world utterly despised by the established fanbase, and they both had a lot of things going against them at first. They even shared a lot of the same flaws, mostly around a fairly weak first season. Then things just took off from there.

Animated's toyline was consistently one of the most awesome in the franchise though.

I can't recall much hate for Beastwars beyond the retarded "truk not monky!" thing, whereas Animated I know had a lot of flak for the art style as many (myself to some degree) couldn't quite get into the "armored people" look many of the bots had. Sure, they had had Transformers in the past who looked like people in robot suits, but at least they still overall looked like robots.

Still, Animated did have a better premise compared to Beast Wars initial set up which was just "it's prehistoric earth instead of a semi-future earth". Though I think they overdid it with the Decepticons always being huge compared to autobots.

This show had many other problems, though. For example, the writers had no idea where they were going with the plot and characters. To be fair, Launchpad was bit more competent in Darkwing, not crashing nearly as much as he did in Ducktales. Eh, I'd say a bit more like Avatar, if that had been largely more episodic (without nearly as much of TLA's interweaving plot), what with how Max is a kid thrust into a world where he had to wise up quickly against the encroaching threat of an immortal enemy and the coming apocalypse he sought to wreak upon the world.

Only thing that made Max like Ben was being a cool, hip kid with an attitude. And that's about it, considering Ben was just obnoxious for the most part, whereas Max was pretty damn intelligent even when he acted like a goofball, but took the situation seriously when the time came.

This is some sick logic here in the industry lad.

>Show is screened.
>It actually gets high ratings.
>People genuinely love it.
>Gets cancelled for no reason or truly stupid reasons.

hell it even got a super nintendo game

>Though I think they overdid it with the Decepticons always being huge compared to autobots.

Nah, that was a good idea. Decepticons inherently get fewer toys than autobots, and are usually larger vehicles, so that was a good way to make them more of a threat with lesser numbers. In theory, the G1 model sheets did the same thing to a degree(which wasn't always reflected in animation), and BW/BM also had a higher number of huge bad guys compared to tinier heroes.

My friend said it was pretty good, but I never watched it because of how cheap it looked.

Came here to post Life in the Dreamhouse.
It's so fucking good, I truly can't believe the writing is that great, I'm blown away every time.

Oh I remember. But I still cry. Cuz I'm an over emotional bitch that cares too much about fictional characters and Daleon might've legitimately been my first crush in this world.

>Animated's toyline was consistently one of the most awesome in the franchise though.
Too bad it suffered from so many quality control issues and the distribution was utterly retarded. Only the first few waves came out here in Yuro, and everywhere there was a massive overstock of Ratchet and Blackarachnia figs, basically dooming the line.

I think Beast Wars managed to win over a lot of people simply because its premise and "uniqueness" (animals instead of vehicles, 3dDCGI instead of hand-drawn cel animation) meant that it could find its own voice a lot faster. Whereas Animated was more or less an updated G1 in concept, so fans compared the two every step of the way, and many of them hated it for either being "not Geewun enough" or "too Geewun".

I eventually grew to enjoy the art style, but I also found some designs off-putting. Mixmaster was essentially just a man painted in weird colors.

The anime bubble popping in the west, One Piece flopping (it was expensive as shit), Nintendo getting Pokemon's anime rights back, and finally Konami suing them to get Yugioh back. 4kids systematically lost every lifeline they had.

>It's one of those exceedingly easy, fast and cheap to produce cartoons. The fact it stuck around for so long, like Johnny Test and probably Teen Titans Go! is probably down to how cost effective it is.
It stuck around because Lego foots most of the bill to make it, since it's essentially a commercial for their product. Much like Ben10, if a toy commercial show's toyline is actually successful enough to merit dumping more money into, it can stick around for a long time.

As much as I love this series, I still harbor something of a grudge.

Apparently, when Heavy Gear (my favorite RPG setting ever) got adapted to a TV series, they had to drop the plans serious war story angle because Roughneck Chronicles was already on the air and execs didn't want to "confuse viewers" with two sci-fi war action/dramas.

So the Heavy Gear series ended up being trite goofy shit that was almost nothing like the actual game whereas the original was basically Tom Clancy + Dune + Votoms.

I was more of an RBG kid, but it sounds like Garret was maybe a proto-Toph? Some of my favorite moments in ATLA are Toph making blind jokes. I remember thinking it was such an amazing way to portray a strong character who had a disability but wasn't defined by it. Nothing about Toph felt like "token disability character".

for starters 4kids is notorius across the industry for butchering shows to an absurd degree. I mean when you consider Macross had a recurring character who was a transvestite it's unsurprising that you get nonsense like a recurring character whose a secret agent in drag.

but what does 4kids do? It will edit out any hint of blood, death, and violence to a degree that is unprecedented in the animation industry. It costs them MORE money to remove guns, swords, and so on than to just leave that crap in.

Oh and you know what we need to do? We need to confuse kids who've watched shows that don't fetishistically edit out any signs of japanese culture. "What are they eating anon?" "Rice balls kid." "Why are they eating riceballs?" "This show was made in japan and that's what they eat there." "Huh."

So you have low quality adaptations of shows. Like breath takingly low quality adaptations. Obviously once certain properties take off the japanese companies are gonna look at this and go "We could hire 12 NEETs to do a better job of this" and get their properties back.

So yeah it's gambling on too many IPs and making the worst possible adaptations of japanese licenses on top of the changing market and death of the saturday morning cartoon show.

I heard it was because season two was going to focus on both teams from season one forming an alliance to stop an invasion from the earth government that decided they wanted to take control of the planet for whatever reason, and the execs figured that was too confusing for a child audience to understand.
Either way, it's a shame. I tried to re watch it a few years back, and dropped it one episode into season two.
