I agree with the first part, but not with the second. We don't know anything about how long Pearl had that appearance, much less when during that stretch that she picked up the mirror (it could even have been after they met Greg). The closest things we have to benchmarks on that front are Pearl's appearance in the extended intro (when Steven sings the song he wrote), Pearl's appearance in The Answer, and her portrayal in the painting or picture from So Many Birthdays (with the latter possibly being a costume to pose in rather than her regular appearance).
