I was pretty much a Marvel fag, but I'm looking to read a lot more DC right now.

At Marvel, most of the stuff I'm still keeping up with is either confirmed as soon being cancelled or on shaky ground one way or another. The only one who seems like he's both good and going to stay around is Ewing.
Not to mention that they're down to one ok X-Men book that's really not getting anywhere and Death of X is probably going to be some ole' bullshit.

Marvel has a lacklustre CW2, Nazi Cap releasing the same day as Rebirth #1 and confusing Marvel NOW 2.

While DC took an honest look at themselves and wrote a big apology to fans and look to be making correct adjustments. For example DC had a "no love" mandate because they thought happy characters would be boring, that has been removed. Marvel is throwing out more gimmicks and tricks and reboots which fans are getting tired of.

Anybody read the interview from an earlier thread? It really highlighted a lot of problems of current Marvel for me. The biggest one being that they're always in a constant state of hype. Before Secret Wars was finished we knew about Civil War II before Civil War is finished they show "Divided we stand" It may not be an event but it let's us know the outcome of CWII more or less. And that nobody seems to have their own supporting cast anymore, all the heroes seem to be living in each others pockets and appearing for absolutely no reason

Aside from fixing the editorial staff (which was DC's main issue), I'm amazed DC finally got smart and locked the next generation of great writers (King, Seely, Orlando, etc.) and artists into exclusives around the same time Marvel had a massive talent drain to Image. Marvel is basically composed of old holdovers (Bendis, Slott, Ewing, etc.) and DC's New-52 talent wave (Lemire, Soule, etc.) and those are still stuck in the seemingly standard DC-to-Marvel quality drop. And DC has had the better talent scouting and development programs for a long time (as opposed to scouting Tumblr -Anka, Henderson, etc., or pulling from dick sucking outlets like CA - Leth), so the talent disparity will probably stay pretty disproportionate for some time.

Am I missing some nuances, or are we basically praising DC for rolling back their own fuckups here?

Just think about the genre "cape comics". There's a lot of countries where people make comics but the only place where capes are this important in the comic industry is the USA. There's a lot of stories in comics all around the world about people with super power fighting super bad guys and saving the world but few heroes are like the American super hero, symbol of hope, protector of the citizens.

I mean what does it tell about a country, the feeling of safety of its citizens living in its cities and its police forces when there are so many stories about super heroes saving average citizens from random thiefs, rapers and killers?
