I'm scientifically intrigued as to what would happen if you put a planet in a bottle.

Would the atmosphere expand to fill the bottle?

How would the planets gravity affect the bottle, how would the bottles gravity effect the planet?

How much material would be needed to make the bottle?

That was the end of the Axis tie-in arc. Inbetween arcs, they do flashback issues in different art styles as either a breather, or to set up the next storyline. The one you read was a Promotional comic about Roxxon Gamma Fracking. The issue delt with Wade's depression, and taking a job from them in the Middle East

Things go gnarly, then Wade dies.
Issue 250 is called The Death of Deadpool for a reason...

It thought it would definitely lead to a big redemption arc or something big.

Deadpool & The Mercs For Money has been almost nonstop Deadpool attempting a redemption arc for himself, doing shitloads of jobs pro bono and backstabbing his employers if he finds out he was hired to do bad things or people will otherwise suffer if he finished the job

it's been pissing off his wife something chronic since he's rarely just murdering everyone willy nilly like he used to

A planet-sized bottle?
Well, the gravity inside a spherical, hollow object evens out to zero, so if that's your bottle shape, Earth would remain exactly the same gravity-wise. And the atmosphere is held where it is by gravity, so it wouldn't expand anywhere. The bottle would need to be made of stronger materials than currently exist, though, or the planet's gravity would cause it to collapse, resulting in your planet being destroyed by a global rain of massive bottle shards.
If we assume that the bottle can take it, the biggest issue would become heat. The bottle would necessarily reflect and absorb some of the incoming sunlight, as well as some of the heat the planet is radiating out to space. Any change in the total energy flowing to and from a planet will have a drastic effect on the ambient temperature, and your planetary ecosystem might have serious trouble coping. You'll also need to install some weather control systems to compensate, or haul the entire planet to a different orbit.
If you can do all that, the remaining problem is that there really isn't a point. What's your planetary shell supposed to prevent? It'd put a stop to conventional space travel, but that's easier achieved with some orbital guns shooting down spacecraft. There's rocks and things out in space, but if your shell is meant to take impacts, that makes the material requirements even more ridiculous.
And if you somehow happen to get your hands on a moon-sized chunk of Indestructonium, there are better ways to spend it.

I don't know the issue or what the arc was about, but there was a great scene I saw posted on /co/ waaaaaaay back.

Captain Atom and a few other heroes were standing among the wreckage following their latest battle with some communist-themed motherfuckers. One of the Big Bad's henchmen's robosuit's reactor was about to blow, and so Atom carried the man up into the sky, where it could detonate safely.

The exchange between the two was pure goosebump-raising. Anyone happen to have it?

Thor's kind of massively depowered in the MCU, isn't he? And they haven't been clear about the whole god thing

This gave me chills even out of context.

Which I highly recommend, along with the rest of Dark Horse's Aliens metaseries.
The DH comics are by far the best Aliens material other than the first two movies.
