I really hope it's just the trailer, because I really want this movie to succeed. This is Hollywood taking a huge chance on another female led project. Plenty of comics do the exact same. There are certain ones like Busiekvengers that use the long history of the characters to its advantage but for the most part you can start at the beginning of a writer's run on a series and everything you need to know will be explained.

I mean, we here in this thread love stuff like JSA and Legion and Thunderbolts that are geared towards hardcore, longtime fans, but that's really the minority when it comes to cape comics.
