Why was she such a cunt?
>>
She's 11.
>>
>>84043247
>short blue hair
She could have the personality of cardboard and treat me like dirt, but dat short blue hair would make me keep coming back for more.
>>
>>84043247
no parental presence. not sure why since her dad is obviously there and present, but everything about the way her mom acts is straight up 'absent dad, doing this myself, frazzled single mom'
>>
>>84043302
Blue/purple hair is my weakness, too.
>>
>>84043307
I don't jerk off the Shadbase because it's hollow
It's nice to look at and I can appreciate the idea, but it doesn't make me feel anything
There's no real lust behind it, he's more of a pinup artist than he is a porn artist, more of something you joke around with the guys about instead of shamefully wiping from your memory every time you jerk off to it
>>
>>84043380
dunno, everyone here is anonymouse as far as I know
I've heard of some people "tripping" but I'm not sure how anyone can tell who's on drugs
>>
>>84043380
you can just make any name you want. you then type ## followed by some kind of 'password' you can remember. so name##password and it creates a unique string of symbols after your name that nobody else can replicate (if they typed that same string of symbols, something else would appear instead)

The family is in a rough place. Coraline and her mother were in a car wreck which is why the mother wears a neck brace. From their conversation it seems like Coraline feels a bit guilty about it. She probably distracted her mother and they crashed. They had to move to a new place that looks like shit, and the father is struggling to get his work done. With all that shit going on her parents aren't paying much attention to her so she's acting out and shit.
>>
>>84043444
also th eyr emonstrously deformed.

whoa, her hair's dyed? i'm so disillusioned..

>>84044610
Yeah, people on /co/ just blow up aggravating character traits. Coraline is pretty well balanced, tending towards the ornery, but she's a preteen who can naturally be a bit ornery plus she just moved / doesn't have friends or any method of mental stimulation (notice how the house doesn't have TV or books or anything yet).
>>
>>84043726
I read this one a long while ago. I don't remember there being much in terms of major differences, although I think Coraline came off as more like Alice (confused innocent girl in a strange world) than in the movie adaptation where she's more obviously headstrong and frustrated by lack of parental attention.

Because she can't get over killing her parents

Near the beginning of the film, Coraline's mother makes a comment about how their plans had changed 'since the accident' and points to her neck brace. Throughout the film, the parents have no interaction with anyone but their daughter. Coraline even resorts to building her mother and father out of pillows to sleep between them. She makes a comment to the cat about them never coming back on their own and when she sees them in the snow globe of Detroit zoo it's because thats where she had her last day out with them. She actually lives with her two neighbours who are both senile allowing her free roam to do what she pleases. The groceries left on the counter have rotted because they've been there for months.

I find the comic a bit bland compared to the movie, it's hard to compete with the fantastic visuals. The movie made the Other world feel more like a fantastical fever dream and actually seemed like something a kid may consider replacing their eyes with buttons for it. The comic in the other hand felt a lot more mundane and the Bedlam seemed like she put a lot less effort in trying to entice Coraline.

There's an island in my country. Quite large. Quite forested. Sandy beaches, rocky cliffs, pines. There's a giant natural stone with a hole stood on it's side in the heart of it. The locals say that if you see it, you'll never leave the island. So they never show it to anyone. But that's OK because their ancient meteorite crater lake is more interesting anyway.

Maybe she was just wearing a costume. Also, judging by the boy's clothes, it was normal to dress young boys in dresses and have their hair long. It was just the victorian thing to do. Once you reached a certain age, you'd get your hair cut and wear pants, that's just how it was back then. Look, even Roosevelt went through it when he was little.

Well, they certainly did have legitimate fetishes but it really was chalked more up to a history of babies dying wicked early. For a long time, you many people didn't name their children until they reached a certain age since it meant they were less likely to die of a horrible disease. I think dresses just make more sense in terms of ridiculous clothing for babies to begin with. Easier to move around in and all that. I think another good chunk of it was up to a certain point, a kid would be sort of genderless and then eventually it's like well, time to be a boy now and wear pants. It's really all very silly, I'm glad it's not something we need to put up with now.

Sure. The game is pretty short & cheap, especially if you can catch it on sale.
While I said that the writing is inconsistent, and I'm not a a biggest fan of the ending either, the game still touches on some neat ideas and themes.

His stories are usually pretty good other than the ending. Look at Under the Dome and Tommyknockers for examples of a fantastic story with a shit ending by him.

Now his greatest stories are fantastic with fantastic endings. Look at The Stand, Carrie, Christine, The Running Man, Rage, The Long Walk, etc.

King writes a lot of mediocre stories, but every once in a while he writes a fantastic one. And with the quantity of his work he gets a good amount of fantastic stories out.

You have made this same exact thread every several months. What is wrong with you OP?

You get the same answers every time. Which actually makes me happy, since the general consensus on /co/ is a resounding "No, she's not. She's young" or even nicer.

And no, she's not a cunt. You've never been around anyone who's been neglected, been uprooted, and/or is young without the knowledge to handle such things. Actually Coraline is still pretty mature and well behaved much of the time, given the circumstances.

Seriously dude. These threads were old six months ago. Stop repeating yourself. You're just going to get the same answer.

Hah! No hate, but I'm surprised people missed that. I suppose it's easier to notice if you've rewatched the film multiple times. There is a ton of tiny details all over the place, showing the love and care of the animators.

I suppose 'recent kill' is a relative term, given that the other victim was from, what, 60+ years ago? Maybe 80? Not that a firm time line really matters.

Knew a girl just like Coraline irl, she at first appeared to be this basic white bitch who acted big and sarcastic. I had no idea what to think of that, to be honest. We started to hang out quite a bit, talk about stupid shit; music (she had patrician taste), how high school went, stuff along those lines. Eventually the conversations got deeper; she told me about her parent's practical joke of a marriage, how she messed up her friendships, how she couldn't let go of so many things. Recently we have stopped talking due to a few mutual life issues (I'm in the middle of trying to get back on my feet). We had also had issues due to problems involving her ex.

I think in the end she is just lonely

Not all of them. It was a long process. What they did was basically get everyone they could who was drafted at the time (you still have to do 1 to 2 years of compulsory military service in Russia and most East European countries if you're a healthy man), and then they sent them in and changed them very quickly so everyone only got dosed for a short amount of time. My uncle was one of them. He used to have a thick head of hair before (his father still does in his 80s not even a small bald spot, same for his brother in his 40's) but now the uncle has bad hair and a huge bald spot. Also his third child (the one he had after the liquidation) has health problems.

Then he's basically covered up, talking about how he just wants to be dead because he can't see or hear or feel nature outside his room ever again. Then finally his wife talking about how he died, and basically there was no skin left on his muscles and the authorities didn't even put an obituary for him because they have a policy of not talking about it.

Don't live in Russia and the other former Soviets then.
Or pay attention to them.

Russia's current political controversy is dealing with the retarded. People are still killing mentally handicapped children, and modern hospitals outright encourage parents to abandon them to orphanages and, I quote, "just try again for one worth feeding".

Public opinion is on the side of keeping them out of sight, with proposed laws popping up prohibiting where they can go and when, so instead of being a Wallmart greeter like in 'murrica they can't even go out in public places during the day or their caretakers fave a fine.

Since most of Russia is still ultraconservative and ultranationalistic, deviating from the Cold War days culturally moves slower than women's rights in the middle east, and the official stance of the government on all things is "talk is bad, change is bad, be silent because Putin knows best" so any protests have been prohibited and any attempt to organize an official awareness group is banned.
Being part Russian kind of sucks, ya got more to cringe at than to be proud of.
>>
>>84072143
That seems very excessive, but I do kind of agree with the "kill the mentally handicapped children". They aren't beneficial to the species as a whole, and it'd be doing the human race a service to remove them from the gene pool.
It's a horrible thing to say, and I'm sure if there is a God they'll play a sick joke on me and make all my children have mental or physical deformities; but I stand by it.
>>
>>84072208
You do realize they don't usually reproduce anyway, right? Plus there's plenty of jobs higher functioning mentally disabled people are good at, like working a cash register. They're actually focused, ask for help immediately if they need it instead of just staring at the machine, and aren't a resentful cunt making it clear to everyone who comes to the front just how much they hate their job.

But Russia takes it all a step ten times too far.

>>84072208
It's not that simple, Edge McSharp. Think of the moral, social, political and economic ramifications of sentencing "inferior" people to death. Just encourage abortion and draw the line there.
>>
>>84072208
It's a big world. They find ways to contribute.
>>
>>84072208
If you want to remove them from the gene pool you better start by doing what the Nazis did and not let the parents nor their immediate family breed at all. Or everyone for that matter, since a lot of cases can happen without any other precedent in the family at all.
>>
>>84072279
>Just encourage abortion and draw the line there.
That's what I support when I said "kind of agree". My apologies for almost cutting you.
I mean, if they're already born let's not go rounding them all up and executing them ala-Nazi Concentration Camp style; but like, if you get an ultrasound or whatever and the doctor tells you that your child will have a deformity, I'd push hard for an abortion.
>>84072393

>>84072269
>>84072306
And yes, they can contribute to society and lead wonderful fulfilling lives. However, like I said, as a whole they're inhibited by their disability and in-turn limit the species. That's why Natural Selection is a thing. We have evolved and have made medical advances to help mitigate the losses, but at some point I feel like we're doing a little bit more harm than good.

At the end of the day, my opinion is just my fear of having to work harder than I'd already have to when raising a child with physical or mental disabilities.

I ain't gunna raise somebody else's spawn without having my own first. I'm passing my genes on. It's fundamentally what life wants to do anyway. Pass on their genes in the hopes that they'll be desirable and beneficial to the species as a whole.
Think of your pet (if you have one). They're probably neutered or spayed. It's normal in our society, but if you think about it it's one of the most cruel things to do. Life wants to reproduce, life wants to evolve, life wants its genes to be successful. Mutations happen, and it's part of life. Sometimes they're beneficial, most of the time they lead to the organism being unable to survive naturally.
I said earlier that our medical advances mitigate this, and there's nothing wrong with that, our species has become the dominant lifeforms of our planet because of it. However, I'm selfish, and don't want to work harder than I already have to when raising a child. Which is where my mentality comes from.
>>
>>84072548
I'll never understand the adoption mentality either, especially with all I hear about children rebelling and rejecting their parents' philosophies, so you aren't even passing that on to them.

I guess its because I'm more of the mentality that we aren't animals anymore, and are going to start transitioning to the existence of robot bodies where thoughts and lessons mean everything and genetics are just a start.

I think of sex, I think of fun. I think of having a kid, I think of the species not dying out, not any passing of genetics or what have you.
>>
>>84072597
That's all children.
>>
>>84072653
>we aren't animals anymore
We're not, and that's so fucking cool to think about, how far we've come as a species and what we've accomplished. However, we are decades, if not centuries, away from the Sci-Fi Cyborgs we all know and love. People do have prosthetic limbs and shit to replace missing body parts, but we're still in the baby stages. I can't wait till I'm an old fucker, just to be able to compare our technology now with the technology we'll have then.

>I think of sex, I think of fun.
I envy you. When I think if sex I think "Goddam I wish I wasn't a fucking virgin. Holy shit, how is getting laid so fucking hard for you. Jesus Christ, you're a piece of shit, all you have to do is not be awkward or get in your own way."
And in a way, having a kid is ensuring the species doesn't die out, but children happen because you pass on your genes. So, you can't really have one without the other.
