Considering in the comics is Xavier the one who gets turned on by underage Jean I see no issue with this.

Cyclops is a complete scrub and could hold off himself good enough. He literally had a few days at the school and probably less than one week since discovering his powers. Again, no issue with that. It makes sense for Scott not to know how to fight.

The action scenes at least had weight. The airport scene was literally 15 minutes of nothing happens. Nightcrawler fucks Angel up really quick in both encounters. Its how a superpowered fight should be. With consequences. Doesnt help that CW fights look like tv tier. Singer at least knows the basics of film making and film language. Everything is framed better, lighten up better, paced better in X-men fights.

I watched the 2 movies again this weekend and frankly X-men wasnt as bad as I remembered it, while CW isnt really as good as I remember it.

But honestly though, this guy has it right for most of his post.

The main issue for almost everyone is that it was a Proffesor X/Mags/JLawstique movie, not an X-men movie, and expectations were kinda high after Deadpool showing that X-Men movies can actually evolve.

Hopefully they fix it soon, but i'd be ok with Fox letting go of the FF franchise, if only because they have done so much damage already that giving it to Mahvel would be the only sane thing to do.

Merging with the MCU is asking for trouble and convolution. Mutants can work great on their own. Here's how I'd do it:

Set the Universe in an alternate timeline of the real Earth. Some 50-60 years before the movie, there was a big event where lots of people died and lots of cities got partially destroyed. Big-ass EMPs went off around the world. Never reveal what caused it. Some people think it was cold war missiles, some people think it was a mutant, some people think it was the military being afraid of mutants, who had only come to the public eye some 10 years before.

Here's the deal though, don't make it grim and post-apocalyptic. After these 50 years, society is mostly re-established with regular countries and leaders and everyday life. There's still some signs of destruction and debris and trash, but not to a Fallout point. Think the Philadelphia ghetto in Rocky 1.

Some junkyards, some cut-off highways, tons of bunkers and labs, a couple of fallen aeroplanes and/or sattelites, but all that happened in the past and is just waiting to be cleaned. There are however some biker gangs and some street violence (not as extreme as any of the Mad Maxes), particularly but not restricted to the mutants.

Deadpool struck this balance pretty well, destruction-wise. No need to go full 90's edge or full Snyder gray. Just a tiny bet to set things up.

Then the X-men show up with their bright and clean costumes (like Negasonic in Deadpool), and the contrast with the environment helps establish that they are a rescue team, created by mutants to help clean their name by helping people around, who eventually get caught up in super-heroics and paramilitary operations against the evil mutants, who are more ragged and biker-gang.

Slap some unknown actors and a writer that knows what he's doing, and you can even do a proper O5 story, because a lot of their powers can be used in rescuing situations.

Second movie starts with the second team and the transition.
