It's a mortal sin to kill anyone, really. But full culpability of sin requires two things. First, that you KNOW it's a sin in a first place (i.e. have a well-informed conscience). Secondly, that you are doing it of your own free will and are not being coerced, manipulated or threatened into it. Intent also plays a role in Catholic ethics, and sometimes people are faced with choices where there are no options that do not incur sin. In this case, someone might kill because it is the least bad option (see: self-defense, the Just War doctrine).

You know what I hate and I had a similar argument with a friend. The idea that the churches would find mutants as unnatural or cursed or evil.

I pointed out that yeah that angle works for newer Christian groups but for older religions like Islam and the Catholic church mutants would be regarded as both heavenly and demonic historically and that current stories need to stand as such.

Shit like ISIS would gladly accept mutant individuals when it came to useful powers.

I'm sure that you'd have tensions within the individual parishes and churches with them regardless. Even if the official doctrine says one thing, you're always going to have people who are either ignorant of that teaching, or fail to follow it regardless. I know personally, that's the most common reason I've found for people who have left the Church, they have a bad experience with one asshole who isn't properly being an example of Christ to the people around him or her, and then take that to represent the Church as a whole.

The issue with a lot of Protestant groups (particularly the American brand of Protestantism that carves off new denominations and churches with no set hierarchy every other week) is that then those individuals go on to found their own church and DO represent what that narrow group believes, and if they're particularly charismatic (in the personality sense, not the capital-C denomination Charismatic), they'll attract people with them to found those new churches.

They may or they may not. From what I remember them saying (and I'm not a canon lawyer, so take what I say with a grain of salt) that God's covenant with Adam in Genesis was just for human beings, and other alien species may have their own relationship with God. Hell, they may not have even fallen from a state of grace like we did and may not need to be baptized in the first place.

Immortal souls like humans do? We don't know that for sure. It might be that God saw fit to give aliens souls like that, or they may just be another creation like the other animals here on Earth. We don't know, this is all just speculation and thought experiments until we find some aliens ourselves.
