Ankama isn't very good at the whole female protagonist thing, are they? Or female characters in general.

Bakara just recently became a huppermage, though, when the black Dofus got taken. She's not exactly like Kerubim, who was an experienced warrior. I have no idea. There a few things that are really confusing in terms of continuity between Dofus and Wakfu, or across animation, comics and manga.
Osamodas shouldn't be blue in Dofus and should have tails.
Ecaflips should have to wear pants (Kerubim).
Dragons shouldn't be beast-like and speechless (Wakfu OVAs).
Dark Vlad's head shouldn't be a detached flaming skull (Wakfu S3).
Harebourg should be a midget with a cool hat, not some kind of bishie faggot with a Nox mask (OVAs).
Percimol should be dead (OVAs).

It seems dragons native from the World of 12 can also reincarnate, just like Eliatrope dragons (they just don't have a twin sharing their Dofus). Dardondakal is supposed to be slain by Hyrkul, yet, he appears in the OVAs. There's also Ignemikal who reincarnates asa human named Arty, and later on reincarnates again in his natural dragon form to appear in the OVAs.
Maybe reincarnation wipes part of their memory/personality. Another possibility is that they were just controlled by Ogrest while he had ingested all six Primordial Dofuses. Yet another possibility is that they may have a more bestial behavior under their physical incarnated form, and a more sapient behavior while trapped in their Dofus waiting to be reborn. There's no canon answer to these behavior changes, but they are not unexplainable inconsistencies either.
>>83907060
I'm looking up this page
http://krosmoz.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon
And I'm a bit confused in regards to the dragons of the World of Twelve. How many dragons are there, exactly? What are the primordial dragons? Since they're primordial, I assumed they were the first, but they seem to have parents?
>>83907060
>Yet another possibility is that they may have a more bestial behavior under their physical incarnated form, and a more sapient behavior while trapped in their Dofus waiting to be reborn.
There are plenty of interactions that can refute this. Aguabrial when Djaul tricked him with the Ondine, Aguabrial in Les Larmes turquoise, Bolgrot's friendship with Rykke Errel, Gresgaoulian's relationship with Calypso...
>>83907264
>How many dragons are there, exactly?
There's a list of known dragons on that page.
>What are the primordial dragons?
Direct descendants of Osamodas' dragons, also listed on that page.
>Since they're primordial, I assumed they were the first, but they seem to have parents?
They're the first on the World of Twelve, but not in the Universe.

So we all now Ankama love their tragic villains, and Julith was one much the same as Nox and Qilby. However, did anyone else feel like they kinda didn't get it right with her in the movie? (Warning, major spoilers below)Julith is doing her business to get her husband back, whom the Bontarians think she betrayed, but in reality she didn't betray Jahash, but then she also now genuinely hates the Bontarians because they think that of her and specifically chose to revive Jahash by making a spectacle out of the Boufball game - so although we're meant to feel somewhat sorry for her and support her redemption, really she is still quite an asshole kidnapping Lilotte to force Jojo to become complicit in her twisted shitFurthermore, once it is revealed that the Huppermages fucked up and are the ones who got Julith killed, we don't see the impact this revelation has on their standing - clearly they're highly revered in post-destruction Bontarian society, protecting the King of Bonta and presenting the statue of Jahash who was himself a Huppermage. A little more exposition on this would've been nice and not too much to ask for since the film was around 1 hour 45 mins long, 2 more minutes or so wouldn't have hurt but I can accept maybe that's just a personal criticism
Perhaps it was due to time contraints however that they, in my opinion, didn't do Julith as well as Nox or Qilby but overall I quite liked the film

Perhaps your questions will be revealed in Book2 which will be released in 2099. As for Julith hating Bontarians, probably isn't that new since she is Brakmarian.
I'd have to disagree with you on the handling of her tragic villain aspect though. The movie keeps mentioning that she had a desire to see Bonta's fall, but this was just a red herring to the audience.
Julith simply wanted to have a family. There wasn't much need for exposition since I believe the flashback scenes from Julith's perspective was more than enough. What tugged my heartstrings about her character how well they showed her motherly side whenever she an Jojo would have their tender moments.
I'd say Julith would be on Nox's level when it comes to 10/10 villains.
Where is the love for amakna, eh?
>>83910843
>we're meant to feel somewhat sorry for her and support her redemption
There's your problem. She was always evil to begin with. She has no qualms with killing people who get on her bad side, and there was never a "redemption." She just kept her murderous side in check because it wouldn't fly with Jahash and she was willing to make that concession for his sake. When the people she always considered her enemies unjustly turned on her, it's no surprise that she wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice them.
You can feel bad about her losing her family and so on, but she was never a good guy turned bad out of necessity like Nox. She was a bad guy who calmed down for a while, then found new reasons to kill people.
>>83911495
I love dem buns.
>>83911503
But as >>83911212 rightly said they're giving us the family side to try and nuance her, which I do appreciate rather than "lol Julith is the incarnation of Brakmarian evil", but even Qilby felt more tragic because they didn't sell her enough to me personally
Although if you take it as in your spoiler, it's an interesting way to look at it - I just took the redemption as trying to portray her as the latter rather than the former
>>83905939
Dunno why maskemane was even there in the ecaflip dimension?
>>83911605
You can be inclined towards murder while caring about family. A lot of people are dicks to everyone except their relatives. If anything, her "family side" makes her more believable as a human being than if she just wanted everyone dead for the lulz. That she wouldn't let her bond with Joris get in the way of her plan is understandable considering she hardly knows him and he was raised by one of her old enemies. Making him see things the way she does was a thing to take care of later. When he defied her in the finale, she was willing to fight him, though indirectly, because he was essentially "one of them." But when it came down to it, she wouldn't outright kill him either, because he was of her flesh. That conflicting relationship, to me, felt precisely like the way an "evil" parent might feel and act. Always torn between "I can kill whoever opposes me" and "This is my offspring and I would give my life for them."
>>83911746
uhm, cause ush brought him there maybe?
>>83911925I suppose her attitudes towards killing and Jojo fits her idea that if she just reunites with her undead husband and son she never knew everything will be okay and they can live in peaceful quiet idea, she's clearly not in a good state of mind
So, uhh..who was it that set off the black dofus in the first place?
And why is Joris immortal and lives for so long if the dragon soul is out of him now? Or is it back in him and in the egg?
I loved the movie. It was pretty much everything i hoped for minus the idiot iopscipades but it wouldn't be Ankama without bulge's of both sex's flying in our faces.

The biggest culprit of that in the movie was Kerub and Atcham's divine parentage and that could've more elegantly fit into the theme of family if they had chosen to focus on that bizarre dynamic instead of Khan's idiocy.
>>83915489
>It is only Livre 1, the intention is to leave open a possible sequel but I guess that depended on the success of the movie
The only open plot point is who actually activated the Ebony Dofus.
Although the way THAT played out in the climax was equally dumb since Julith's flashback revelation and Joris' subsequent encounter with the artifact revealed that its master (ie Julith) could've just turned it off without slamming the Ivory Dofus into it and blowing herself up.

The joke was literally on par with fartbending. There's a time and place do "lol UNDIES XD" jokes and it's not when you're trying to revive your dead husband by sacrificing thousands of lives to do it in front of your twelve year old son.
>>83915658
Yes, because Nox's grand genocidal scheme revolved using his wife's panties to travel through time and Qilby needed to wipe out the world to power his sister's interstellar push-up bra.

Because your argument is you just copy and pasting the same thing over and over. It was a stupid idea and bad writing.
>>83915623
>Julith could've just turned it off without slamming the Ivory Dofus into it and blowing herself up.
But she wanted to die and be with Jahash again.
>the villain of the movie's motivations revolved entirely around her matronly instincts and wanting her husband's D again
And here I thought they were exaggerating when they said this movie was sexist
>Simone's budding relationship, while largely toothless, was a rather dignified depiction of a homosexual relationship, and gays in general
>movie has a hysterically camp secondary antagonist who is wackily abused by and because of his man crush
Wow. One step forward, about a kilometer back.

Yeah, the whole underwear thing was a bit retarded.
>>83916006
This is probably bait but I wouldn't really expect any better from Ankama, and I don't say this in a critical way. It's pretty obvious it's a studio made up of mostly male anime fans who draw porn of all of the women characters in their spare time.
Again, I'm not saying that's exactly a bad thing, it's just obvious where their preferences lie.
>>83916013
yeah, but before getting throned, the Emperor actually beat down his enemies most of the time instead of letting a bad math equation, a tummy ache, or a goddamn egg do his work for him.
>>83916006
Am I just blind to this identity politics stuff? I saw Julith's family ambitions as a way for Tot to try and get us to try sympathise with her to add nuance by adding a distinctly human component to what could've been ME BIG EVIL FROM BIG EVIL CITY I HATE GOOD
As with the fanboy I can see more where you're coming from but at the time of watching I saw it as star-struck-ness rather than a portrayal of a gay man
>>83916190
I thought his dialogue about being ready to "receive" from Kahn made it pretty obvious what Ankama was going for.
>>83916102
Her motivation is EXACTLY THE SAME as Nox's. Family is kind of the big thread that ties most of the series' plots together. Even Qilby wanted his family to come with him exploring the cosmos.
Just because it's a chick this time doesn't mean there's any sexism or even the slightest bit of bias on display. If anything, they should be praised for consistency in theme.,
>>83916190
>Am I just blind to this identity politics stuff? I saw Julith's family ambitions as a way for Tot to try and get us to try sympathise with her to add nuance by adding a distinctly human component to what could've been ME BIG EVIL FROM BIG EVIL CITY I HATE GOOD
She tried to kill a thousand people because her vagina told her to.
>As with the fanboy I can see more where you're coming from but at the time of watching I saw it as star-struck-ness rather than a portrayal of a gay man
Did you glance over the voice, the lips, his clothes, his flailing, his shower perving, and the ass slapping?
>>83916240
That's not how this works, anon. If someone says it's sexism, it IS sexism and you better check your damn privilege.
>>83916240
Uh maybe I should have been clearer but I was actually specifically speaking about how a romantic relationship between two women was handled better than a man showing sexual/romantic interest in another man was. It's the same old thing about how lesbians are cute/hot but gay guys are icky.
I don't think there was anything sexist about Julith's motivations.
>>83916240
Her motivation being so close to Nox's actually bothered me a little bit, but her character was different enough so I didn't mind it as much.
>>83916280
Simone's relationship had more time to be developed, but also Khan's treatment of Marline was another way to show us that Khan is a total asshole.
>>83916247
Nox tried to kill literally everything because he wanted to get some vagina by that reasoning?
Maybe with the fanboy I did block it out a bit however
>>83916330
But they didn't need to make Marline into a walking stereotype. They didn't even need to have him be attracted to Khan.
>>83916298
>Nox's scheme involved a machine that would suck the life out of people
>Qilby's scheme involved a machine that would suck the life out of people
>Julith's scheme involved a machine that would suck the life out of people
Oh gee, I wonder what the bad guys in Season 3 will use as their ultimate doomsday weapon.
>>83916366
Fair enough. I didn't mind it
>>83916280
>but gay guys are icky.
It's because of the hair. Why do you think so many of them wax.
>>83916389
It'll suck the life out of virgins, so Yugo dies and it's up to everyone else to save the day.
>>83916337
>Maybe with the fanboy I did block it out a bit however
His name was Marlene, dude.
>>83916520

>>83916337
>>83916190
>Am I just blind to this identity politics stuff
>Nox tried to kill literally everything because he wanted to get some vagina by that reasoning?
The symbolism of his horrifying plan was that he had lost time and was trying to get it back (i.e. the giant spider clock)
The item that symbolized Bakara's? Her husband's underwear.
>>83916556
Marlene, thank you mon ami
>>83916612
That is a classic Ankama-ism though and fitted the tone of the movie, for better or worse
I think the imposition of this extra lens to view Julith's plan through simply because she's a woman is a bit unfair, why must a woman's family ambitions be sexist when it's certainly a recurring theme in Ankama works as >>83916240 points out
>>83916612
That's a fair point.
But look at the way Julith reacts to Joris, she's shocked when she finds him and then she tries to get him back. There's nothing sexist about trying to reconstruct a family. The briefs were even stated to have been hand made when she was pregnant with Joris, it's a symbol of family. Albeit an odd one.
>>83916750
>That is a classic Ankama-ism though and fitted the tone of the movie, for better or worse
So, If Julith had been a male antagonist, would the writers have had a pair of his wife's panties at the center of the device?
>>83916836
Probably, yeah.
>>83916836
I know it's going to sound like I'm not trying to be amenable to your view but honestly I'd say yes, it would be pretty classic Ankama
>>83916808
>The briefs were even stated to have been hand made
Via knitting. A traditionally feminine thing to do. So you know, based on that and all of the above, the writers seem to be implying that her being a woman had something to do with all the badness.
>>83916836
>>83916846
>>83916878
I think it would have been a bra but either one would be likely

>>83916846
>>83916878
>>83916930
Because that's totally what this cornerstone item used by male villains looks like when they want to turn back time or power a mountain space ship.
>>83917085
Ankama wants it to be their Quidditch probably. A beloved and iconic fictional sport.
But based on how freakishly hard they're trying to force it, it's just not catching on.
>>83917236
Turning back time and powering a mountain space ship don't involve a humanoid body or clothing. The underpants were a personal thing that connected to the individual. The eliacube was a source of power for pumping up the macguffin.
The underpants were pretty dopey but it's not like they were the weapon Julith used to murder a couple thousand people.
>>83917315
I'm sure they'll try again in season 3.
>All those /co/ fantasies of Slam Jam finalies showing up in comics finally come to bite us in the ass
>>83913253
>isn't a character without faults and who never makes mistakes.
Yeah, but she was a complete fuck-up damsel-in-distress.
>>83917236
You know that if they did you'd complain that using a woman's underwear would be objectification and that the man is only interested in the woman for what's between her legs.
And if Julith used her own underwear you'd complain about her reducing herself to her sexual identity.
And if a man used his own underwear you'd complain about his phallus being an icon of power encouraging male domination.
You'll always complain about everything because anything can be twisted and framed to look like sexism and push your brainless crusade.
>>83911212
Why hasn't anyone impregnated Julith yet? Are the men beta?
>>83917362
She definitely wasn't a damsel in distress. She was just a fuck up.
Why another Iop when they could of used another class like Sacrier?
>>83906317
i bet, that ankama is just got lazy and reuse old assets, or butchering their own lore and story like they always do

>nearly gets beaten to death by the living mascot and needs Khan to bail her out
>loses her Wakfu first
She was both, anon.
>>83917541
We have different definitions of a damsel in distress then.
>>83917520
I think there's some censorship issues with Sacriers.
I liked how Khan and Bakara came out as less sympathetic than Julith. Khan was a huge, selfish, self obsessed asshole and Bakara was a cold-hearted, vengeful, fuck up.
>>83917567
>I liked how Khan and Bakara came out as less sympathetic than Julith.
She murdered an old man, would've killed Joris if he hadn't been her kid, tried to murder a 1000 people because ME good-BONTA BAD, and spent years trying to get her husband's dick back into her pussy instead of looking for her child.
>>83917567
I didn't find Bakara to be less sympathetic than Julith. She was just a little girl when she lost her brother and since then she's been unable to find an outlet for her anger against Julith while dealing with the pressure of growing up in her brother's shadow.
Khan was just a useless dick though.
>>83917631
And Nox murdered several countries, killed two, maybe three main characters all in the name of a family he abandoned.
>>83917639
Well I focused a bit on her betraying everyone, getting Atcham killed and then getting drunk and almost giving up on going after Julith. Khan at least just abandoned Joris and was an asshole.
Although Bakara was what, 20 years old? 18? Her behavior isn't too unreasonable.
Reminder that Nox did literally nothing wrong and Blue Bill Cosby is a more evil individual.
So there are supposed to be two more movies or something?
>>83917971

It's not that, but that she had to let go of her obsession to bring Jahash back/get revenge on the people who caused her family to be torn apart in the first place. Dying/sacrificing herself the same way Jahash did was simply a part of that. She couldn't very well let Joris take responsibility for her own actions, you know.

Athough, by you very own conclusion, posting it was pointless since progressives gonna prog' , they are impervious to logic. Still true nevertheless.
Also I find it ironic how people who won't shut up about being heralds of muh love and muh feelings completely missed the point of Julith's motivation. Claiming she wanted her husband back because her ovaries told her so, or that her knitting something for him is a sign of women enslavement to muh patriarchy ... uuuh ... yeah... because there is no such thing as actual, pure, unadulterated LOVE for another human being (that you happened to marry, no less).
Always count on progressives to reduce women to soulless creatures only driven by their base biological instincts, while claiming they're liberating and empowering them ....

That is, Marline IS a stereotype. But he's a realistic one.
There's no point in complaining about a character being a "walking stereotype" when the original intent of complaints like that is that the stereotype in question no longer applies/never did/is unrealistic. Just admit that you don't like the negative portrayal of a gay character, since that's the most honest you could ever be without trying to hide behind any kind of presumed moral high ground.

I ended up liking Marline a lot more than when I heard of the character. He doesn't turn on Khan because he rejected him sexually, but because he thought he was a lousy player. Not that the other applicants didn't join in in getting revenge on Khan for that.
At least he got to redeem himself in the finale, which gives him as much of a story arc as most secondary characters in these shows.

They were pretty underwhelming actually. The power to intimidate hair eaters and to fight slightly faster.
>>83916925
But when Nox tried to kill people to get his family back, he was a "fun" villain character. Julith is genderbent Nox. Same motivation.
>>83927077
Just talking about the super strength thing he had going on. Like at the beginning when he threw that ball at Khan or when he was overwhelming Atch during their fight (even though Atch was more skilled, he was pressed by the strength behind Joris' attacks).
It's not about being flashy or stylish, just that it's strong enough for even someone as skilled as Atch to be pressured by it.
>>83927182
He's also still a 10 year old. We see him be a force to really reckon with in Wakfu. All he needs is more experience.
>>83927077
Being able to knock Atcham down in a swordfight when you have no training whatsoever is not "fighting slightly faster."
The ability to run so fast that you cause a shockwave when you take a turn can also have its uses.
>>83927225
Well, no, I believe (from what I've pieced together so far) he lost the two Dofus he was protecting to Ogrest, and the dragon that was hiding inside him had already returned to its Dofus. >>83929746
I complain about boufball episodes but I didn't mind it so much.
I mean plenty of things bothered me about the movie but I still enjoyed it overall. No point in focusing on what I disliked.
>>83929913
Yeah, unlike the OVAs, the movie's problems weren't enough to really ruin it overall.
Honestly I'd like a villain that isn't some tragic fuck up trying to fix his problems. I want some guy that's just evil for evil's sake or completely insane like kefka
>>83930371
Yeah, sure. I mean, as much as I felt for Nox and Quilby on their particular issues and how it was that they become who they are now, an unambiguously evil villain would be nice.
I did like, however, the change in how Yugo treated each villain. Nox, defeated, was no longer a threat and Yugo could feel that he was too broken to continue on after his plan had failed. Quilby, on the other hand, would remain a constant threat because of how far gone he had become and there was no way to treat that, so Yugo had to regretfully punish him again.
Julith does bring her own flavor of sympathetic villain too, though, in that she has no compunctions in regards to her evil acts in the first place, but sought to better herself first and rise above her selfishness for the sake of her loved ones. She stumbled hard after Jahash died, but set herself right at the end for his and Joris' sake.
Then there's Ogrest who was pretty much just a depressed child. So that makes 4 for 4 villains (never read the comics, so don't know what the situation there is). So who knows if the series will ever move away from this particular theme of tragic villains.
>>83930371
How about Remington? Sure he's not grandiose but with all the shushus that he possesses, he might have some semblance of finale tier baddy.
>>83930587
Maybe if he gets possessed or he betrays the Siblings at a crucial moment to usurp power? But he has that thing with his brother where he'll unabashedly sacrifice himself for him, so he's already partially sympathetic. Might even expand on that relationship and why they are the way they are (that is, why he's siblings with a Bow Meow).

>>83933947
My first time watching, I felt like they overdid it a bit with the rule of cool, like they crammed too many elements in a fight that could have been a bit more straightforward. Maybe it just feels unusual to have the first fight in the movie be the most intricate and impressive one.
Let's be honest though, I could watch half an hour of that stuff and still want more.

You just described S1 with Grougal and Nox not being the grand finale but instead it was a bunch of grass savages and hatboy vs Nox.

Although this is some weird case of black humour. Not that I care too much about those pants tho. Kinda giggled at it for a second and forgot about them for the rest of the movie.
>>83917236
Well, come to think of it, eliacube or other magical item can get old. They used a ring in dofus to symbolise the love too. So maybe they rolled with what is left, so to speak.

Nah, Kerubim would be the kinda person to be way more open if Lilotte was the granddaughter of his best friend/rival.

As much as I like Groovy (and the rubilaxia arc that was rad as fuck), I wish they had killed him for good. The rez was a bit of a cop out imo, and it would have been good to focus on the other members of the brotherhood instead of the Eva/Pinpin drama. And we would have gotten single mom Eva
>>83936307
Yeah, don't you think that's the reason why her design was updated/changed? To make her look more different? Lilotte doesn't have the different colored ears and her hair is a different color (pinker, not as brown), for example. What one anon said earlier about Ankama just repeating designs too much seems more reasonable.
>>83917631
> instead of looking for her child
Well, that is one real thing that bothers me with Julith. Seriously, wtf. She basically abandoned her kid because "Baw, mon a'mour is ded". Sure she didnt know about her son being alive, initially . But she did find him in the movie. Why she do this?
>>83936573
No, I don't think so. Your guess is as good as mine though, I can't think of anything that outright states she's the same character. It just seems really obvious to me.
>>83936731
That was my guess until i actually saw the character.
However, this is like the last episode of season 2 where we saw all those child Eliatropes. Because of the same-face, a few of them looked like Yugo with slightly different hair. The case is the same here with Lilotte and Indie's granddaughter, but there are defining differences.

Ah! Then expect a colorful fantasy world filled with sexy people, backwards names, puns and innuendo. There's a lot of silly humor, but when the time comes for feels, they hit you hard. The comics tend to be more serious than the animation.
Since Wakfu was made first, its animation isn't great at first, but you can see their evolution throughout both seasons. They've really come a long way by now.
>>83939937
It's a Hand, not a sword.

Dofus the game was originally made first, then Wakfu the MMO, then the shows and comics came after.

>>83940264
Give it about 20 episodes, then he'll get about 20 minutes of screentime, but while he's on it's great.
>>83940264
Yeah, the first episode gives you a nice taste of what's to come. Be warned, though, the first several episodes he won't show up much and it will be mostly villain of the week content. It's a good opportunity for world-building and character development, but if you want full focus on the plot, that is relegated to the second half. It's a compromise they had to make with France 3 because they wanted kids to be able to start watching whenever.
>>83940249
Justice's artstyle was pretty great, I liked the book.
Pic not related (Wakfu TCG).

Are there people who play the game yet don't watch the show?
>>83940799
over at /vg/ probably
>>83940799
Oh yeah, a lot of people get very annoyed whenever Ankama posts news about anything that isn't the MMO they play (whether that's Dofus or Wakfu). They cry about the company dedicating resources to anything other than the game and post things like "Who cares" or "lol that's for children" (this coming from teenagers) on all other news.
>>83940799
As someone who plays and watches %70 of the people i see didn't watch the show
>>83940864
Sounds terrible.
>>83940916
The French community does look terrible, at least from the outside. I seriously pity their community managers. Another of my favorites is "They expect us to pay for this?" and its variant "Don't they think they're milking us hard enough with subscriptions?", as if Ankama weren't a company trading goods for money and a Dofus subscription should get you all their products for free.
>>83940910
I'm always surprised at how many players haven't even /heard/ about there being anything outside the game(s).
>>83941074
Yeah and im not talking about newbies like some 160+ people doesnt even know other ankama stuff exists
>>83940100

>>83941074
Maybe they should stop making their goods with shit and taking people's money and running off with it and also be competent at their jobs.
Even now after Tot's crying in community letters shit still isn't better. They don't make it easy for the community.
>Hey look we have a payment option here on our website so you can give us money directly.
>What's that a Credit/Debit card no fuck you go buy a specific pre-paid card, go off-site then pay us there, we're not going to fix out website payment.
>hey everyone here's some nice deals that are mathmatically wrong and objectively ripping you off!
>oh we're getting DDOS'd, eh deal with it
I swear Ankama makes it so hard to love them when they make it easy to hate them at times. It keeps getting tougher and tougher to continue supporting them as the years go by.
>>83941281

>>83941540
called a Hand. What do you not get? It's a Hand of a Clock.
>>83941567
and it's used as a sword
>>83941381
Eh, you won't hear me say Ankama doesn't deserve criticism, but whining every time they do something that doesn't directly benefit either MMO is just stupid and a total lack of understanding of how businesses function. When they have to cancel a comic series because it doesn't sell, I don't go crying that they should inject money from the MMOs to keep them on life support.
Speaking of which, the letter to the community is nearly a month late now.
>>83941596
Just because he swings it? A mace is swung around, do you call a mace a sword, are you stupid or what?
I was very dissapointed at Wakfu season 2 and the ovas. Nox was a much more interesting villain than Qilby. Qilby had a lot of potential, actually, if they developed him more slowly rather than revealing he had been a cackling, mustacho-twirling maniac all along so that they could turn the show into DBZ lite as quickly as possible I'd have liked it. Tristepin should have stayed dead.
Hahahahahaha.
>>83941567
>>83941596
>>83941654
It's a weapon you see. It was made for offensive posterior attacks.
>>83941662
Also, in true DBZ fashion, it seemed that the only characters who mattered were the Eliatropes and occasionally Tristepin. Eva at least got to be in the limelight a few episodes and set the plot in motion, Amalia felt just irrelevant
>>83941662
Season 2 was weird because so much of it was just filler while Qilby was built up as a villain. It felt really strange since the plot took a backseat, although that's not necessarily a bad thing there were plenty of good episodes. I liked it since it felt like the party was taking their sweet-ass time having fun traveling since they didn't know shit was going down back in Sadida.
I don't think Tristepin should have died at all if they were just going to bring him back though, same thing with turning him into a god in the OVAs.
The fighting was really boring to be honest, it was just "watch Yugo get the shit kicked out of him until you really have to question how the fuck he's surviving all of this" by Qilby's OP pls nerf bullshit.
Also the hat reveal was pretty underwhelming.
Who krosmaster here?
>>83941611
Do you not understand how MMOs work? They need constant GOOD support from the devs to stay alive. The games did come first, so they should have some priority. Comic also did bad because Ankama has a really shit Marketing team, most likely the same behind the game because the game has bad marketing too.
Without all the bad steps they've been doing, they need a smack upside the head to wake them up. Enough bullshitting around.
>>83942287
I bought the board game and i don't know how to play nor i don't have any friends to play it so pretty depression for me
>>83929250
Haven't you been paying attention to the franchise?
Wakfu Season 1: Nox kills Yugo after they both power up
Wakfu Season 2: Yugo loses to Qilby despite getting super charged twice and gaining an army of Eliotrope children. Only the egg saves him
Wakfu OVA 1: Yugo gets defeated by Harebourg
Wakfu OVA 2: Yugo gets beaten down by Ush
Wakfu OVA 3: Yugo unlocks the power of 6 Dofuses and still can't bring down Ogrest
>>83942352
Yugo is a pretty shitty fighter.
Although Nox beats him because he gets distracted by Ogrest.

Ankama's writing is always enjoyable but there's some trends that seem to be repeated quite a bit.
Villains who are family men and people sacrificing themselves to save others, namely. I hope Season 3 does things a bit more freshly
>>83944761
track 18;_;7
>>83946375
Tot has said a few times that family was an important theme for him and I don't think he's about to set it aside. It definitely permeates most of their stories, from adoptive fathers like Alibert, Kerub and Black Ink to sibling loyalty with Yugo/Adamai and Remington/Grany, to Nox's and Julith's motivations and Qilby's need to bring his people along, and several disfunctional families like Ecaflip's attachment to Kerub and Atcham's jealousy, Remington and his father, Otomai's difficulties with Ogrest...
As for season 3, your wish may be granted seeing how the Brotherhood of the Forgotten hate their parents and I probably wouldn't call them family men, but then again I can almost guarantee that Adamai and Yugo will reconcile and tell us how twins should always stick together.
>>83913138
they can always put in a fight scene where Yugo overloads himself with power that just ages him up like what they did with that fag in hunterxhunter
>>83946782
That'll be awkward seeing as how Yugo is a manlet and Adamai is now Perfect Cell
Okay, I wanna hear an honest answer: Should I even bother watching this movie?
Reading down on the thread I notice a fuck ton of negativity. Same with the wakfu OVAs.
I kind of fell off watching for a long while. Watched both Wakfu seasons and Treasures of Kerub. Haven't watched the OVAs nor this movie nor read the Wakfu manga. The catch however is that I did not find Season 2 as bad as people make it seem.
Will I enjoy this?
Because everybody seems to make it out to be a disaster.
>>83948511
I didn't watch the movie yet but im sure you will enjoy OVAs
>>83948511
Watch it and tell us why you think it was a disaster.
>>83903432
Sounds good to me, why should a character be "perfect and immune" solely because they're female. That kind of thinking is part of the reason why you get so many shit female characters in the first place.
>>83948511
All things considered it was well executed. Definitely watch it.
>>83925182
>that godawful butcher of his design
Coming from someone who likes bishi shit, like boys in magical girl series and stuff, Harebourg looks miles better, and a lotcuter.
The one on the right looks like something you'd find in a throwaway seasonal anime. It's garbage.
>>83948511
It's beautiful, but the story and characters are pretty awful.
There's a phenomenal fight scene 1/3 way through the movie, but the rest of the film limps along from there.
Joris never gets to do anything truly awesome, his supporting cast outside of his foster father and puppy friend clutter up the plot and don't really add anything to it, everything wraps up awkwardly (iris out and 'fin') and once again, the billain is undone by something else.
The ultimate Litmus test, the crossroads that will determine whether this movie is for you or not is the fact that the villain is trying to resurrect her dead husband by stealing 1000 souls with said husband's used underwear as the medium through which he'll be resurrected. And these golden briefs aren't thrown into a vat or anything, they're on proud display given prominent shots all throughout in a cartoony lightbulb-shaped device
This shouldn't be much of a spoiler, since that's what the plots of Season 1 and 2 ultimately were, villains trying to accumulate a large amount of Wakfu via mass murder to serve their own small-minded personal goals.
But the underwear in the lightbulb is the clincher, so to speak.
>>83948700
That sounds goofy as shit, but given I'm just off the more shenanigans-focused Dofus cartoon, I don't feel like it bothers me.
I guess I may enjoy it then.
>>83948851
It's goofy but that's part of Ankama's charm. The people complaining are just miserable fucks who want everything dark and edgy.
>>83948511
The stories of the OVAs are horrendous since they're more concerned about setting up the circumstances of Season 3 than telling anything worthy of note.
Gist of it is, Grovy was actually the God Iop all along and has to fight Ogrest with Yugo to stop him from flooding the world.
Unfortunately, it's a rather lackluster final bout. Ogrest, in spite of having all 6 Wo12 Dofuses, is still a moron, and all he does is brawl and tank hits.
And Ankama TRIES. This is clearly where all the actual effort went into this OVA trilogy. They have Yugo go all super saiyan with the Eliotrope Dofuses, they bring the battle into low orbit atop a floating island, and they even bring in a bunch of dragons, but they just can't get over the hurdle that the big boss of this occasion is just Brown Crybaby Hulk. It's so sloppily put together and poorly realized and ends on a real whimper of an ending with Ogrest's father, Otomai, giving him indigestion and having him vomit out the 6 eggs.
Then Goultard has to rescue them all, because, why let the heroes of the story actually get to do anything of importance when you can have cameos do it instead.
Oh yeah, and when I say heroes, I mean just Yugo and Grovy. Eva, Amalia, and Ruel don't get to do much, so if you're fans of any of them, tough. They're all reduced to cursory supporting roles. Eva is just Grovy's wife and mother to his kids, Amalia's brought down to being Yugo's unattainable love interests, and Ruel is everyone's driver.
>>83949098
Why the fucking fuck would you straight-up spoil the OVAs for this guy? He asked if he might enjoy them, not to be given a plot summary. Let him watch them himself, for fuck's sake.

I feel like I should know this.... Come on.... Ah!

Oh sweet, I actually didn't know about that
>>83955154
The style looked familiar, but I have so much fan art saved on my HDD that I wasn't sure where to look. Interesting that another bikini shot would give it away.

But Eva's not even the best girl in her own family.

Which comic is this in?

BD image is have the size of the itunes one..
does that have something to do with it?
>>83955533
No, the BD is of course 1080p with black borders and I downscaled it to the 720p itunes one.
>>83955589
Downscaling can cause banding artifacts like seen in the pic.
>>83955641
Not really, I used spline64.
>>83955665
No matter what algorithm you use, if you don't use a gauss filter with a low-variance filter, you can get noise similar to that.
>>83955756
No, you have no idea what you are talking about. The whole Bluray is 80% banding just what I expected from Ankama. Now go away Ankama rep.
>>83955854
So they're probably downsampling from a higher resolution themselves and didn't do it right.
>>83955904
No, the animation is done in something inbetween 720p and 1080p, but they just suck at encoding their lossless source to deliver a decent bluray.
>>83954831
So humans with elemental powers?
>>83955973
Like every other class, yes.
>>83956156
I do remember playing them in the wakfu beta thing, but I got confused with them and stopped (although to be fair, the spell descriptions were french so...)
