Remember, Vriska notes that he's too angry to speak, and in Mister Seven, Crowbar muses that the boss doesn't talk anymore--Scratch does the talking for him. Hussie just decided he wanted the character to be mute, after he had the character introduce himself by talking. Go fucking figure.

Hussie seems considerably more capable at writing the buildup to an event than to the writing of said event happening and the aftermath. The latter of those being the standout in terms of dropped quality. It's made doubly frustrating as much of the time he's done the hard work in the build up, having characters interact and gel, a good example being Kanaya and Rose which, even if you didn't like the pairing, had an enjoyable chemistry of snarky broads with a thirst for knowledge. After they have their big get together moment that wasn't all that well handled they both just fade into nothingness, individually and as a relationship, it's fucking mind boggling given you can just have them doing what they always did if nothing else.

All I know so far is that I love stands that are simple and not too gimmicky. I hated pretty much every stand in Part 5, especially Golden Experience. People give King Crimson shit for IT JUST WORKS, but GE is ever worse. Stone Free and Kiss are refreshingly simple, and in only 3 volumes they were both already usec creatively.
