Will we get more adventures with bunny cop and her perpetually smug fox?
>>83869974
Comic's in September, right?
>>83869974
Well I mean they're doing Zootopia 2, and maybe a short or two along the way.
>>83870004
Is there a comic coming? I have been somewhat out of the loop on Zootopia threads.
>>83870008
I have no doubt that at least one short is coming, and it will probably be attached to a big Disney movie next year. Zootopia 3 is probably 3-5 years away, though I'm hopeful that the wait is on the shorter end of the spectrum.
>>83870008
When is stuff like that even released? Wasn't one done for Frozen?
>>83869974
God I fucking hope so.... I need this...
>>83869974
More adventures andShippingis required
>>83870027
You do these so quickly
>>83870026
Frozen Fever was a little more than a year after the original movie released. Frozen came out in November 2013, and Frozen Fever was March 2014. Tangled also got a short a year after release.
Pixar is a lot faster with their shorts, and they usually have one ready to include with the home video release whenever they intend to do one. The shorts are planned during production of the main film and worked on as side projects so they can be finished by the animators in the months after the movie's release.
Disney's way of doing thing is moreso to wait and see how the film does in theaters, and then they decide whether or not to do a short followup. Zootopia is definitely getting one, and we'll probably see it next year.
>>83870056
I've been working on this one for a couple hours.... I have like, 4 or 5 that I haven't finished...and possibly wont
So, going to run with this. Can't be arsed doing proper text and adding more objects since I want to finish this before England get knocked out of the Euros next weekend. Think Judy would be quite decent at football tbqh
>>83870069
Ah, fair enough. The ones you do finish are great anyway
>>83870069
It's quality work though.
>>83870067
It's gonna be that Wild Times thing, right? I wonder how they will manage without Moore.
>>83870053
Most certainly.
>>83870097
Why will he not be there?
>>83870053
I ship themas best friends.
>>83870097
I don't know, I could personally wait until Zootopia 2- every film that's passed a billion dollars (that wasn't already a sequel) has had, or has a sequel in the pipe
>>83870097
If they're doing a short about Wild Times, they already have tons of already-made assets. Shorts are usually done by B-teams anyway-- it's only going to be a 10 minute long or so short, not Zootopia 2. Even without Moore I don't think there's too much to worry about. As long as there's someone there to keep Byron from dragging us into his magical realm.
>>83870133
All that is required for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.
I wish to hug the bun
>>83870197
>only hug
She would be wasted on you
>>83869974
Zoo Detective when? Who would be the Rust and Marty out of the two?
>>83870004
Yeah, some sort of prequel, it was supposed to come out this month but was postponed, probably for two contradicting reasons:
It's good so they want to keep interest in zootopia longer
It's bad so they decided to polish it to avoid embarrasment after such good movie.
Third , worst option: it's bad and want to ignore its existence.
>>83870133
Byron will make Zootopia real.
>>83870133
>spoiler text
I am not sure I understand.
>>83870217
Let's hope it's for a good reason. Should be a fun read.
>>83870242

>>83870262

>>83870231

>>83870126
>>83870273

>>83870275
This is gold dust
>>83870273
The man worked on classic Simpsons, directed "Roswell that Ends well," and directed two Disney features.... and now spends his free time shitposting and shipping WildeHopps on twitter.
Not sure if madman, but definitely based as fuck.
>>83870292
Couldn't believe it when I found out he directed that episode of Futurama. So fucking based.
>>83870298
That is pretty baller!
>>83870292
I wonder if someone at Disney had to tug on Rich's metaphorical leash out of fear that his WildeHopps posting on twitter could be interpreted as spoilers / leaks.Really though, the "meet the Hopps" deleted scene had some pretty unambiguous shipteasing.
>>83870329
I could totally get behind that though~
>>83870292
>>83870329
A while back I posted about how Rich and Byron are like the 'Odd Couple' at Disney.
>One worked on classic Simpsons and now spends his spare time shitposting on twitter.
>The other is the 'straight man' who happens to be in a long-term gay relationship and might also be a furry.
>>83870231
>>83870271
I don't trust the guy, I appreciate he helped create Zootopia but IMO he cares more about one character he created than the world created around him
if you want to know how Zootopia would look like without Moore, just rewatch "original jumbo hustle"
Made me realize what a director actually do, and how his personality can affect the movie.
>>83870338
The scene with Nick meeting Judy's family was pretty great all around and it's too bad that they had to cut it. We got an amusing call back joke to Nick's selling the red popsicle sticks as "red wood," and overall the scene was very cute and funny, even if it didn't really serve the plot in the end.
>>83870349
Byron has a high power level that he struggles to conceal, and it spills sometimes.
Rich has a lower power level but he doesn't really give a shit about hiding it.
>>83870370
I love her "how dare you put that thing in my paw" look.
Especially on loop
>>83870361
The original Jumbo Hustle scene was pretty hilarious but it had no subtlty to it at all. I thought it was funny that they showed Nick exploiting political correctness by claiming Finnick had "species dysphoria" or whatever, although the scene was a bit more extreme and wouldn't work if it wasn't from Nick's perspective. The store owner comes across as being more pragmatic than prejudiced, but Judy comes across as just being a gullible twat rather than compassionate.
The scene in the final version was much more "human." Deep down you know Nick is pulling a scam, but you want to believe him. You can genuinely empathize with what Judy wanting to help Nick, even though she gets taken advantage of. He milks the sob story just enough to give you the hint that he's up to no good, as opposed to the cartoonishly over-the-top lengths he goes to in the alternate version.
is that deleted scene online somewhere?
>>83870083Put your samples to 24 and check the box "square samples" then re-render to improve.
>>83870469
Exactly, Moore gave all the movie's jokes subtetly, love we find all these size difference hijinks hilarious, while characters treat everything almost dead serious - like the polar bears around the shrew wedding.

It sounds like you and I are one the same boat. Looking at this from a more broad angle, it blows my mind that it's even possible for a human to find anthro animals more attractive than their own species. From an evolutionary perspective, it's not practical at all, then again, neither does down syndrome. It's at this point that I wish someone would do the research to give me some form of closure, but no one cares enough to make that happen..
>>83883605

Saint Nick Wilde of Zootopia will never abandon his fans.
>>83883870
So Byron was a young Fox that was transported to our world? That explains why he wanted to study physics in college and become a scientist (nuclear physicist I think). It was all so he could build the portal back home. When he realized his dream was almost impossible, t he went on to become an animator in hopes of recreating his childhood. Zootopia is his attempt to imagine what his childhood crush would have been like grown up. The closest chance he had to going back.
No wonder he loved Robin Hood. It was the closest thing he had to a reminder of home. And he probably imagined Robin would be what Nick looked like when he grew up.
Of course, this begs the question of why Zootopia was so dark originally. I hypothesize that young Byron and his family fled the oppressive Tame Collar Imposing Zootopia into the human world to be free from prejudice
>>83883962
How much holy Nick fan art is out there?
>>83883739

>>83884251
The sequel live is a action remake ala the Jungle Book is about Byron trying to get back to Zootopia. Or It starts with photoreal anthropomorphic Byron and his family fleeing Zootopia. The rest of the movie is watching human Byron grow up and then making Zootopia

It's a webcomic using the original premise of Zootopia, with the shock collars and worse pred-prey relations that it had, set in a '74 version of the universe instead of the 2010's version we got.
I do admit it's essentially using most of the original script's direction, but from what I've seen it's pretty damn good with the extra bits the author puts in.

>Scene in Zootopia 2 where Judy is in Nick's apartment
>She finds a really nice suit tucked away in a gold trimmed cardboard box
>Nick talks about how it used to be his dad's, and how he was a tailor who made the finest suits in Zootopia before he lost his business.
>Judy says Nick should wear it, but he just laughs it off and says "I'm not a suit guy," gesturing to his un-tucked tropical shirt
>Nick ends up wearing the suit to their wedding at the end.

Those things are awful if you wear glasses.
I've convinced myself that this is the most beautiful pose of Judy in the whole movie. Every time I rewatch I pause it here for a few seconds. I just love the body/facial expression on her.

I really have no interest in someone else's personal affairs. I find the banter about Byron in these threads amusing though.
>>83888892
It's fun for a post or two, but not half of the thread.
he's nothing more than backup director who just got lucky with his movie because Rich Moore pulled him out of the mess he himself created.
>>83888801
Nah, there's only 90+ posters in the thread when there's usually a good 100+.
>>83889034
That's not really a fair thing to say. The movie wouldn't have even happened if Byron wasn't so adamant about Disney being long overdue to make a new anthro animal movie. He was in over his head and needed someone like Rich to reign him in and make the movie actually work, but they were both essential parts in actually making the movie. Byron may have had some really bad ideas, but he was still the one who had the idea for the movie itself.
Can someone explain this Byron meme? Haven't been here very long.
>>83889197
not questioning it, it's just praising him over and over in this thread gets tiresome, We need to be realistic:
better watch out for the sequel if he's gonna work on it, he might pull groovy of ankama/felicity of gugenheim , too much focus on one character will make the movie repulsive.
>>83889388
in short: we're on fumes.nothing left to talk
i cant even find any new merchandise
>>83889197
I'm just happy that, for once, Disney let a director reign in another director as opposed to just having the executives impose their will over Byron and the finished product.
At least that's how I imagine it went down... unfortunately since the film is a cash cow the sequel will probably have more executive meddling so that could be an issue.
>>83889501
>the sequel will probably have more executive meddling so that could be an issue.
after what he tried to pull off with edgetopia i totally undestand this decision.
still , we have like 6 years of waiting.anything can happen.
>>83889651
Eh, I still prefer having a director or directors have the main controls over a cold, soulless studio that only cares about the money.
I mean, look at Rogue One. They don't like how 'dark' it is and executives are ordering re-shoots to give it more levity, despite the fact that most people were looking forward to seeing something different from the Star Wars universe tonally.
It makes me wonder if Disney had Zootopia change because of story issues, or if they're just too chickenshit to do anything that is "too dark" and could jeopardize their paychecks.

in SW case you're totally right, it's a pew pew movie about war and the like.
"Zootopia" or the movie that had no title yet, was far from being a cheerful movie, focused around two groups hating each other while one of them was unjustifully treated like dogshit, and it was used for "jokes".
this would really ruin the streak of disney's good movies, yes, it would make the disney lose BOTH money AND reputation
>>83889983
I'm proud to have ended up in a screencap.
>>83889501
Going by what Disney has been doing lately, I suspect that there will be no executive meddling unless it's absolutely needed.
Like if they have a really bad idea that no one on the tea, realized was bad until the executive pointed it out.
They seem to have realized that you make the most successful films when you have a more or less hands off approach to things, only intervening when absolutely necessary.
>>83889983
that's alot of autism.
>>83890126
Meh, maybe not all of it would've worked but I have no problem with Disney going darker with their animated films.
In fact, I encourage it. If their movies are going to win Oscars and financially snuff out all of their competition by sheer power of marketing and brand-name, they very least they could do is shake things up a bit.
This goes for Disney as a whole too. They're basically a monopoly that has taken over the film industry -- at least give us something different from your usual batch of flicks.

>>83890317
I think Disney intervenes quite a bit actually, but with certain films they sort of let directors do their own thing.
That is why Zootopia stands out above the rest of Disney's recent output, and why Guardians of the Galaxy is by far the most uniquely crafted Marvel film and the only one that feels like it was made by a single director with a vision as opposed to a studio. Disney saw these as 'B-movies' and let the directors do their own thing while their big, 'A' movies tend to be much more by-the-numbers and bland.
Of course now that both Zootopia and Guardians were hits, look for more executive meddling in their sequels.
>>83890588
While that's somewhat true, they're not above meddling in the "B" movies, either. Just look at Edgar Wright and Ant-Man.
>>83888586
>Nick doesn't wear suits because he feels that it's like saying he lived up to his dad's example
>has always secretly been ashamed of his life choices
>putting on the suit ends up being a sign of character development
>>83874796
Not sure why visual confirmation was requested, but okay. Maybe they were picturing something bigger and more elaborate.
>>83890696
Very true, but they do take a more hands-off approach with a select few.
Either way, I'm sort of a walking contradiction here. I really am not a fan of Disney at all, especially on the soul-sucking grip it has on the film industry, but I actually did enjoy Zootopia a lot.
>>83890588
I'd say thr opposite, since the financial investment in both "b movie" projects and "A grade" films are very similar.
It depends on the director and the crew working on the film.
Disneys animated films are made by their own studio(s), and are very internal projects. While Marvel and Star Wars films are very much collaborative efforts between multiple companies.
Considering the amount of money they reign in from just the Marvel and Star Wars licenses, they can take minor risks by giving their own studios free reign over their animated projects.
Seeing how long Frozen 2 has taken, I'd claim that's a sign of little to no executive meddling by Disney in WDAS projects. So I wouldn't worry about Zootopia 2.

>>83891007
I'd say it's not just the corporation, but the blind loyalty people seem to have to their products.
It really is almost like a cult imho. Also doesn't help that the movies they won Animated Feature for weren't deserving while the ones that were lost (i.e. Tangled, Wreck-it-Ralph, and - sadly thanks to the Pixar circlejerk around Dory and Moana coming out during Oscar-bait season -- Zootopia will probably lose too despite being arguably Disney's best film in at least a decade.Meanwhile shit like Frozen and Big Hero 6 win over superior competition from other studios.

I feel really bad for Chris Sanders.
Though if he wasn't fired we wouldn't have gotten How to Train Your Dragon so it might have been for the best.
Still haven't forgiven how Disney treated that though. Let's not forget Lasseter wasn't even a fan of Sander's other film ("Lilo and Stitch") and I don't understand why. Is it too quirky for him visually?

50/50 is awfully pessimistic, especially considering WDAS' track record so far and how they're treated by the higher ups of the company.
The team that made Zootopia know what they're doing, and are probably filled to the brim with ideas for the sequel. I highly doubt that Disney's higher ups would want to kill the golden goose.
I mean, it's not the post-Renaissance era anymore. Ever since 2010 or so they've really changed, probably brought along by the departure of the previous CEO.
>>83891890IK or FK? I'm classically an IK user but jesus christ I'm beginning to hate the free-form corrections. Probably because I'm a scrub

>>83891716
I don't know much about the story, but I was genuinely interested in the visual style and the characters (giant radioactive rabbit, one-eyed cat, etc.). It might have worked out brilliantly -- but we don't know for sure unless we see the finished product.
Personally I think Sanders was too much of a rogue artist and it made Lasseter uncomfortable. Like I said, that he apparently disliked Lilo and Stitch AND how Bolt was changed from a quirky looking film from an animation standpoint to generic CGI animals makes me a bit skeptical and think he may just be set in his own Pixarfied ways of colorful and cutesy as opposed to doing anything that might be conceived as 'too dark'.
>>83891612
I dunno, animals shedding in real life is only really a nuisance because they don't groom themselves well enough. If regular grooming was expected of furry mammals in Zootopia, it wouldn't be a big deal. It'd be not too much different from brushing your teeth or combing your hair every day, or shaving. A few times a week you run the furminator over yourself and dispose of it.
The landfills in Zootopia must be chock full of animal fur, though-- unless they just incinerate everything like Japan.
>>83891990
>post-Renaissance era
Oh god, the endless deluge of horrible direct-to-VHS/DVD sequels. I am so glad that's ended.
>>83892069
>unless they just incinerate everything
Hey, those giant-ass heaters in the desert zone have to get their power somehow.
>>83891990
See, when I see you say this
>I highly doubt that Disney's higher ups would want to kill the golden goose
I disagree, because I feel like it is BECAUSE Zootopia is a 'Golden Goose' that the executives will be more intrusive in the sequel -- to make sure that golden goose is as profitable and safe as possible.
>>83891693

>>83892234
Yeah, there seems to be a thermal exchange system of some kind between Tundra Town and Sahara Square.
>>83892127
The counter evidence to that is all of WDAS' previous projects (Tangled to Zootopia).
The "worst" meddling they could do is provide more resources and desired consultants.
If it isn't a collaborative effort, like the Marvel and Star Wars films, they're going to be very hands off since they've seen that's how you make a hit.
If this had been old Disney, each of the latest WDAS films would have had a spinoff tv series and direct-to-DVD sequel by now.
