I think he's under the impression he did explain the situation to her. Heck, since she got there all of the other characters have been trying to explain it to her in their own different ways and she just still won't get it. Bruce told her that's it's an artisanal establishment, then when she didn't get it he said they only use the finest ingredients and craftsmanship, and then finally she shut up for a minute when Alfred condensed it to "fancy." She doesn't seem to have asked Bruce for help with the menu itself, though. She just jumped right to asking the waiter, and in an admittedly pretty narrow minded way.

If I were on a date with someone that said loudly and obnoxiously to the waiter "Can I get a NORMAL x? All the stuff you have here is too WEIRD." I would be embarrassed. I guess I can get why they'd be pissy if I sneered at them and asked them "really?" like that but I'd still have to do something to communicate my side of the situation.
